Being new to the area and missing LA's dining scene, I was excited to try this restaurant because the decor and ambiance were beautiful. We visited during brunch, and the live music created a pleasant atmosphere. What surprised me, however, was that the restaurant was almost empty at noon on a weekend. Nevertheless, I thought this would be a nice spot to take my team for our Christmas lunch. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not live up to our expectations. My Mexican mother-in-law was not impressed with her chilaquiles that she refused to take left-overs home. We specifically requested that our dishes be prepared without onions, yet our queso fundido was topped with green onions, and my Carne en su Jugo had fresh white onions at the bottom of the bowl. My husband also asked if he could have cilantro with his quesabirria, but we were told the restaurant didn't have just cilantro available, which was surprising for a Mexican restaurant, especially at this restaurants price point. Another thing that stood out was that I overheard the table next to us being offered the dinner menu, while our table was never given that option. I don't know why the experience was different, but it left us feeling overlooked. Service also fell short. Our used plates remained on the table throughout the meal, even though the waitstaff came by multiple times to refill my son's horchata. The table became crowded with dirty dishes, yet no one made an effort to clear them. Overall, it felt like there was a lack of attention to detail and genuine hospitality. It's unfortunate because the restaurant has a lot of potential with its attractive setting and live music. The food was, as my son would describe, "mid" but it was the service or lack thereof that really made a lasting impression to me and my family. We called a day ahead for a party of 25 and made it clear that we were gathering during a very difficult time of mourning. Unfortunately, we were seated directly in front of a live karaoke performer, which was not appropriate for the type of gathering we had explained to them. The food was good, but the service was very slow. While waiting, we received very small portions of salsa and stale chips for such a large group. We were even offered pan dulce for purchase, but it would have meant much more to see some thought put into accommodating our group with fresh chips and plenty of salsa while we waited. For large parties, please be more mindful of the circumstances, have enough staff available, and make sure fresh chips and salsa are provided. We've had much better experiences with large groups at Pancho Villas, where they are more attentive to these details. My partner and I stopped by as we stumbled to this place on Yelp . The decor is trendy and the ambiance is great , perfect for happy hour or a celebration. We came for dinner, and the lighting was very dim, making it hard to read the menu (they also use QR codes, but I prefer a physical menu). We started with the ceviche verde limon, which had very little shrimp, lots of onion, and it needed more lemon. Our bartender, Carlos, was friendly and made excellent cantaritos (10/10). Unfortunately, the entrées didn't impress. The Camarones de Don Lupe were chewy and tasted previously frozen, however the salsa they came with was very tasty and the carne en su jugo was just okay. The ambience was really nice, the mariachi really knew the songs and had excellent voices. The food was just ok. On the other hand, the service was not great. It took 25 minutes to get a glass of water and 45 for them to take our orders. The attitude from our waiter, Danny was very rude. She would not have eye contact and 3 times, "Telling" us we were not ready to order when we were ready. We just stared at each other in disbelief of her attitude. Then, I order a Margarita, and right away I changed my mind and told her never mind I'll take a coffee, I mean I changed my mind right away and her reply was, I already ordered it and if I cancel it my boss will yell at me. Really? If her boss was really going to yell at her, then I do not wan to go there any more. If she was making it up then I don't wan to go there again either. The table was also loose and we had to hold our drinks so they would not spill. After several attempts they came and fixed it. Conclusion, the service doesn't match the fancy looks of the place. The ambiance here is great. We had breakfast here during the week and we enjoyed it. It wasn't very busy which was a good thing because I'm certain this place gets busy in the evening and weekends. It was my 3rd time in the same week. The 1st and 2nd time went great, food was delicious and service was excellent but unfortunately the 3rd was so disappointing. We took family for breakfast since we had such a great experience before, but things went way different. The waitress, her name is Nadia, was very rude and seemed like she was having a bad day. She took a long time to take our drink order, then took longer to get our cafe de olla, which was warm, not hot. We told her that the coffee was warm, not hot and if we can please get hot coffee. She didn't even apologize or anything, she just took the mugs and left. Took about 10-15 minutes to bring hot coffee. We ordered our food, then when she brought our food, my egg was undercooked, not over hard well down like I asked for. She took it back. Brought the egg back and it still wasn't cooked all the way. She took it back again, didn't apologize for the inconvenience or anything, she had a straight face the whole time. Buy the time she brought my egg back, I was already done with my Chilakiles. Also, my husband had asked fir a side of creamy green salsa, and she brought the wrong one, so he asked her agai n if she can bring the creamy one. She ended up bringing the right one after, but we were still charged for the 2 sides of salsas even though he didn't touch the wrong one she brought out first. She never came to ask if we needed refills or anything, we had to ask other waiters that were around because they asked if we needed anything, I guess they noticed we were trying to find our waitress. Then, we decided to order 2 orders of pankekes (pancakes). They took forever to bring them out. My husband abd brother asked for more coffee and when they brought the coffee it was cold. We told the waitress that the coffee was cold. At this point my brother was already upset and told the waitress that he didn't want anymore coffee, but husband did, so she took my husband's coffee mug. About 10 minutes later, Nadia the waitress comes back with my husband's coffee, she had the mug on top of a sm plate since it was too hot to carry by itself, and you could see the coffee steaming, almost boiling. She placed the coffee on the table abd she looked at my husband and told him (in spanish) "pruebelo haber si ahora si esta caliente" , "taste it to see if it is hot ". She knew that it was extremely hot, why would she say that, she was being sarcastic. Obviously my husband didn't take a sip right away, he touched the mug and it was super hot, you couldn't even hold it. She obviously placed the clay mug in the microwave for I don't know how long and tgat is why the mug was extremely hot. We couldn't believe what she had just said and with a smirk on her face too. We were all just looking at each other and couldn't believe what had happened. I was gonna go to the manager and let her know what had happened but I didn't see her anywhere. I guess the waitress Nadia didn't care about providing great service to us since they automatically added the tip to our bill cause it was a party of 6, but I hope she doesn't ruin someone else's experience there. Their menu was this cute wooden heart - I'm old school and love paper menus but I loved this concept and was offered paper if I wanted/needed so that was nice but the QR worked perfectly and was organized very well to find what you were looking for. The food was so delicious, I felt like we had a feast, but I wanted to try everything I could. We had the queso fundido (soooo delicious & with fresh tortillas), the aquachili verde Limon (spicy but delicious) Enmoladas (were good but felt like it needed something, just couldn't put my finger on it) & the Mar y tierra (can never go wrong with steak and lobster - the presentation was awesome with this dish, I love that the plater it comes on says Pinche Caliente that made me laugh & it had a drawer to pull out more fresh tortillas) The service is very friendly and attentive, always making sure drinks are never empty, like not even close to empty they will have a fresh drink before you even finished. The hibiscus drink was a good choice for me. I heard great things for the alcohol drinks & the presentation, but we didn't have that this time next visit for sure because I will be back. read more

Wow! What a great experience. We found this place on accident, and we are so glad that we did. We have had a lot of Mexican food from various places. But this was unique and worth the stop. First off- We had wonderful service. Marisela and Diego were our servers and they were so accommodating. They made sure every detail was covered. Second- The food was outstanding. It was unlike anything we have had. I didn't get a photo of the carnitas, but it was on the bone, and it was perfectly crispy and wonderful. The shrimp were some of the best I've ever had. The sauce was incredible. It's worth noting, the shells were still on. I am not sure if I was supposed to eat them, I know some people do. I chose to remove them. We also got the sopes con pollo. They were very good. We got the margarita flight. That was a great choice. It gave us the chance to see what we loved. The margaritas have a great presentation- they come with dry ice bubbling up. It was a very cool touch. I would say that this place is authentic, unique, and they have thought of every detail. The decor is modern and beautiful. The lighting was perfect.
