Dry unique concept. A Blockbuster and a brewery had a baby. I loved the fridges of single beers. I made a case of random beers to take home.

Fun and funky! You can browse the DVDs, which are creatively sorted by genre, director, actor...several ways, or just head to the bar to enjoy the myriad taps (many local) and food from whatever food truck happens to be there. (Ukrainian deliciousness last time I stopped in!) Casa Video has long been a favorite, and the addition of many screens, couches, the excellent beer bar, Flying Leap wines (less expensive here!), and food trucks has made it a great place to go any time. I came here Christmas night with my whole family to watch the movie they were showing and have some drinks. This was my first time here and I love the concept. The rooms with the comfy couch is cool but was taken so we sat at a large table inside. They allow dogs which is awesome, so I brought mine in a sling. You know, it's so easy to take for granted a place that you go to at least once a week, but I feel like it's time to shout to the world how much I LOVE Casa Film Bar. My friend group and I come just about every Tuesday for trivia (officially called SpeedQuizzing), and we love the competition. Each week, we get drinks from the massive rotating selection that Casa always has. I personally love trying new things every week, and I switch between getting drinks they have in cans/bottles and the drinks they have on draft. I'm partial to sours and ciders, and they always have a great selection of both. We sometimes take advantage of the great variety of food trucks that they have outside, but I love that they also have delivery of Fresco right to your table and several other restaurants within walking distance (Choice Greens, Graze, Raijin Ramen, Istanbul, to name a few) that you can grab and bring in to eat while you are at Casa. All of the bartenders are super friendly, eager to tell you about what beers they have at the moment that are good, chat with you about how you did at trivia, and more. Truly great service, and while I've become a regular here, I've always felt welcomed by the bartenders. I love looking through the movie selection, and although I'm so sad that they recently had to sell part of the building to new businesses, I am so glad they are still actively renting out movies (and the top prize for trivia is 7 free movie rentals, so that's killer!). They're also always playing great movies, and with screens everywhere, it's easy to see the action. Casa is a place I love to come to do homework, hang out with friends, drink, watch movies, and has even been the site of several of my first dates in the past. The unique aspect about this bar is that it is connected to Casa Film, where you can watch and/or rent movies. The have a variety of beers on tap, as well as a modest selection of canned and bottle beers for sale. If you've been to Tap & Bottle, it's like a similar set-up, just sized down. Since it is part of Casa Film, you can check out the selection of movies, including their large selection of international films and extensive genres. Each month Casa Film Bar offers special features and themes, like Bollywood night. It was a really cool experience getting to hangout with friends, drink beers, and watch a bunch of different Bollywood movies that I had never seen or heard of. Additionally, they hosted a food truck that served curry and other Indian food. You can check out their calendar on their website to learn about other features or themed movie nights/events. On other nights they host different local food trucks, which is a nice way to support Tucson and small businesses. I can't believe I've lived in Tucson for 6 years and just recently discovered this place! If this isn't the most amazing hidden gem in Tucson then I don't know what is!! We decided to stop by on a Friday night and it was the best decision we ever made. They have an amazing tap list and plenty of to-go beer selection. If you're into trying different beers, this is the place to go! The staff is great, they quickly attend to you once you're ready to order your beer, close your tab, or order another around. They also have food trucks come regularly, so you can order food there if you're feeling hungry. The best part about this place is that there are TVs everywhere and they play amazing movies. It seems like they have a general theme of what they are going to play every night. I went to one of their events where they had a Hayao Miyazaki film marathon! I was very skeptical when I heard that Casa built a film bar, but it has repeatedly proven me wrong. I can't pretend that I haven't sat at their bar and been completely puzzled and drawn in by whatever they happen to have playing on their screens. Even if you aren't drawn into the film, their atmosphere and selection of board games make for a chill night with friends for people who want an actual night of human interaction and engaging conversation (alas, a bar where you can hear the person across from you!). Without minimizing the value of their atmosphere and entertainment value, their selection of beers and partnership with local food trucks satisfies the hangry muncher and drink connoisseur in us all. Chill nights aside, plan ahead for their themed events. Parking is CRAZY and you will likely have to take to street parking in the adjoining neighborhood. Hit this place up for the first time last night, for their "A Christmas Story Ugly Sweater Contest". TVs abound every wall in the bar, so you have a good viewing point of, the moving playing no matter where you sit. Friendly, friendly.....and once again friendly people! Had a very enjoyable night sitting at the bar, chatting with the employees and a fellow customer, all while watching A Christmas Story. The hubby and I won the contest for ugly sweaters, and our prize was a most notable one and fragile (that's Italian).....collector series of A Christmas Story pint glasses (insert chuckle and smile here). They have a nice selection of craft beers to quench your thirst, and for special events there is a local food truck right out front. So I DOUBLE-DOG DARE you to check this place out! Casa Film Bar is 5 out of five and I'm not even really a beer drinker! I love that Casa Video has been a long supported Tucson business. They do things right and the same can be said about the film bar. Folks can get the best of both worlds here. Head over to rent a movie and grab a beer at the bar and maybe a growler for home. You CAN do that here. The video store connects to the bar but they still feel like separate places, which is great. The bar is well appointed, there is plenty of seating for groups in addition to the bar itself. There's plenty of variety and they host great beer events there too. If you're hungry, Fresco just down the street delivers! It's an awesome addition to the Old Pueblo and one that any beer and/or film enthusiast will enjoy. The team is is super welcoming too. It seems as though I have found a new favorite place to come hang out in the evenings in Tucson. I have been wanting to stop in here, but previously never did so. I came and checked out the video store for which is another review, and then sauntered over to the bar. Okay, maybe I ran. The bar had a nice relaxed, chill atmosphere with two huge flatscreen TVs playing a movie. Craft beers were on the menu, wines on tap, and gourmet coffee just to name a few things. I generally love anything by Ballast Point, which they had two nice variations by. I really wish they would get in some Victory at Sea. Not going to lie, I did get a bit tipsy and then proceeded to wander the entire store, eating popcorn and gesturing wildly at films I wanted to see. I thought it was an interesting concept to pick out movies you want to rent while you are drunk, you might discover that you rented only all romantic comedies. It's almost like never go shopping when you're hungry, or buy lingerie when you're horny. Never do both at the same time. The bartender seemed a bit distant at first, but once he was engaged in conversation he was actually very nice. He was a nice gent. So between watching a movie on the big screen, getting a nice buzz, and chatting with the bartender, it was in general a good time. There is only one other person there because we came very early at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The next time I return, I would like to come in the evening when I can take in more of the atmosphere and people. Did I mention they give out hot, free popcorn in small popcorn bags? read more

Great concept and feel. The draught beer selection is pretty good and constantly rotates. The cooler has a great selection of craft beer as well. The only things keeping this from being a 5 star, in my opinion, is 1) the small selection of games. We went on game night and would have enjoyed more to choose from. 2) the seating was not that comfortable. They have cushy chairs but only 6 and those are snagged quickly. The rest are hard wood and just high enough so your feet can't touch the floor. I highly recommend checking it out. Great old movies in the large tv's. read more

What a cool concept, a film bar connected to a video store. As if Casa Video wasn't great in and of itself, they've added a bar. I may not come here to view a movie for the first time, as it is a bar with socializing going on, but they seem to have cool theme nights and special showings of cult classics. They often have a food truck in the parking lot, but if I'm here, I'm walking to Graze to get a burger and fries to bring in. Yum. I was here most recently for a Game Night, which they host on Wednesdays. They had some classics, Battleship and Yahtzee, as well as some interesting novelty games like Star Trek Cataan. They have a pretty decent selection of craft beers and do growler fills. They also have some wine and a small can/bottle shop if nothing to your liking is on tap. The bartender was friendly but away from her post a couple of times as it was slow. Prices are fair. The place is a true Tucson gem. read more

I've been coming to Casa Video since high school, and beer has made it that much better. The variety on hand is respectable and changes regularly. There the possibility of a beer flight if you have difficulty deciding, and while there isn't food available in-house there is often a food truck outside in the evening. Some nearby restaurants also deliver. The bartenders are lovely people, even though I was amazed to find that there's an Alex / Alexey / Alexa combination going on. I wanted to love this place because of how creative it is. Buy a beer to enjoy while watching a film while enjoying free popcorn, what's not to love? The bartenders were unfortunately not very pleasant and it seemed like one of them was just waiting to take their break and we (the guests) were getting in the way of that. So I was impressed by the service. The movie choices are also a little bizarre, which is good and bad. The movie got a little gory and for some of the weak at heart, had a hard time stomaching the beer after that. I think that I would give this place another go and hopefully there would be a less unsettling my stomach movie on! read more

This whole time since the extinction of Blockbuster I thought the only way to get a movie was through red box or Netflix or whatever connected TV network that has taken the fun out of renting a movie. Ok so as you can probably already tell I actually liked going out for a drive to the store to pick a movie with friends/fam and take it home and enjoy it. There are just some things technology can't replace. So Casa video was fun find. The smell of popcorn right when you walk-in really sets the mood grab a bag free while you go about your search - it was great! They have a full selection of whatever you might want to see: Kids movies, drama, horror, action, porn, classics you name it! Now here's the real game changer of this place. A full taproom! Go in grab a pint of some of your local favorites on draft. They also have a few fridges on the side of the bar of other bottled items available for purchase and to enjoy in-house or to go. They serve Beer, wine and cider. While you are there you can grab a seat at their bar or a table or lounge on their sofa chairs. TVs in the taproom will be playing movies...we walked in on half of Armageddon with baby Ben Affleck's crappy acting! It was awful and but a great conversation starter. Haha! And if you want something more than just popcorn they have food trucks that will park out front to order something a little more filling. This place was a big hit for me. So I am just in love with this place! Whoever the genius was to add the bar to keep a video rental store current should be applauded! They seriously have everything you could possibly want to rent. I mean it's two floors if that tells you anything. They also provide free popcorn so you can munch on that while you're browsing the titles. The bar area is super cool and the bartenders are fabulous! They have a huge beer list, plus beer coolers if you don't find what you want on draft. They also serve and sell bottled wine for those non beer drinkers. Hungry for something to go with the alcohol, no worries, Fresco will deliver to you and their food is legit! Pizza, wings, subs, salads, they have you covered. I love this spot and my goal is to become a regular....to the point where they yell out my name when I walk in Go here. Drink here. Hang here. Oh they also show movies in the bar. They were playing a really old documentary on the coal miners in West Virginia when we were there and it was actually very interesting. I was very excited when Casa was able to reopen their bar area. My friends and I always enjoyed coming here for beers as we are mostly within walking distance and it was definitely one of the places we stopped in at when we knew everything was shutting down. Now that it is back open it is one of the few places I continue to frequent when I can because they are taking their job very seriously! We usually get to see a bartender named Jessi and she explained how things worked when we returned. Basically pick your beverage and you'll be assigned to a table that they know has been sanitized and wear your mask when not seated. Simple. In between pouring beers the staff is continuously cleaning inside and out and I mean everything from the complete chairs to tables, doors, bar etc, they all do a fabulous job! We happen to be in more when Jessi is working so it's always nice to see her smiling face but in reality all the ladies do great work and continue to make us feel safe. Unfortunately we have also been there when customers can't seem to follow these simple rules and they have no qualms about enforcing them. They are stern but friendly even when they get treated less than acceptably. So shout out to this place and the employees that are working hard in the situation they were given and continue to make this a place we want to be at regularly! read more

This place is a solid four stars for me. I've been dying to come here ever since it opened and my favorite food truck (the Curry Pot) was outside but not set up yet so I popped in. I was greeted with big TVs, a mellow feel and a welcoming environment. They had some clipboards laying around with the beer list. It it was a pretty decent list, with lots of local flavor. You can also buy beer in the fridges and drink on site if you don't see anything you like. They also offer growler and I forgot the other size but filling stations. I sat down at a table by myself and soaked in the local crowd. There was a good mix of young and old and people playing board games and people discussing the nuances of beer... It was very homey and relaxed. I also took in the decor which I can only describe as movie set-esc. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally or not but it was rather charming. The ceiling is unfinished with white beams but a very basic wood ceiling. The bar was done in a brick finish and the walls are also done in a brick like finish. I do wish they had more arm chairs because they're seating was a bit uncomfortable. Overall, my first impression was favorable. I will definitely be going back and maybe giving them five stars but like I've said in my previous reviews, it takes me a while to warm up to most places! It's definitely a place to support and check out. I've always loved Casa Video and I love seeing them evolve. read more

There is a separate listing for the Film Bar! Hooray! I came last night for another visit and try some different brews. This time we chose the nice comfy red seats in the corner and to my surprise a bartender came out immediately and gave the best service ever! Recommended plenty of good beers, and I still love that you can sample before you buy a glass. For a Wednesday night, the place was pretty busy! My new favorite spot to relax, and the best thing is that they have coffee and tea for those afternoons to hang out or when you're not feeling like imbibing. read more

First time visit with my wife and had tons of fun! Met others there from the 20s and 30s meetup group to play some games and have some fun. Great atmosphere and great beer selection. Prior to the meetup event we went to Fresco Pizza next door, highly recommend that place as well. Cool thing about Casa Film Bar is that they allow you to bring in food from Fresco Pizza. We happen to be there when they were celebrating there 1 year anniversary so it was a little loud, but everyone was having a good time. This place is great. Comfortable environment, friendly service, and knowledgeable staff. They have a nice amount of chairs, including bars and stools, tables, and comfortable plush chairs. Plus, free popcorn. The only downside is that with the addition of a bar there was no additions or improvements made to Casa's restroom. It's not very clean, sometimes won't flush, and builds a line on weekends. Beside the restroom, I have no complaints, and even that is not enough to take it down from 5 stars for me. read more
