I went to this place on May 20 based of the high recommendations here on Yelp. I was terribly disappointed. Our waiter was a hustler who wouldn't take no for an answer when I asked for just the a la carte green burrito and he insisted that I add rice and beans for a substantial markup (makes it a full "dinner" even though the burrito itself is very large). The burrito was very boring because there was nothing "green" about it such as green chilis or green salsa to give it flavor. The burrito was just a lot of meat and onions inside the tortilla, basically not as described and somewhat flavorless. I also found that the one thing, the chips and salsa, which always seem to predict for me what to expect from a new Mexican restaurant were somewhat disappointing here as well. The salsa was fresh and very tasty, but was so watery that you couldn't put any on a chip without it instantly running off. I have never understood just why some restaurants do this or, for that matter, why customers put up with it. read more

When I first moved back to this area, this Casa Gamino was my Mexican restaurant of choice. I even had my birthday dinner with family and our significant others here right before the shutdown in 2020. I like the comfy booths, decor, and those margaritas. I was in the neighborhood (at Grocery Outlet, where I should have just grabbed Amy's frozen enchiladas for $5.49--yes, I sat in the car for a bit and texted and returned a call), and swung by Casa Gamino at 10:31. I was told I could only order takeout (just me eating tonight) because the kitchen closed at 10:30. Okay, that seemed a little much considering they are open until 11 *while looking around at the number of people, even at the bar*, but I ordered my enchiladas to go. At 10:45, several entrees were run to a party of at least nine. I asked the server if I could eat my takeout there, and was seated. The party got more entrees after that. At 10:55, the table next to me got their entrees. Meanwhile, I was about done with my enchiladas in their takeout container. Unfortunately the enchiladas weren't hot and the cheese inside wasn't even entirely melted. The beans were good, chips and salsa okay (their salsa is not anywhere nearly as spicy as I like, but it still has good flavor). I got the albondigas to go. My mom always gets excited about albondigas so she always liked coming here and appreciated that it was included with the entree. I waited to hand the tip to my server (who basically only brought me water) and walked out about 11:11. Nobody else appeared to be leaving soon. Obviously they have enough business and don't need mine. I love Rivera's in Long Beach, and tonight I might have just as easily gotten tacos from the 600 Tacos truck and eaten them in the car. I was starving and wanted to sit down for a few minutes. If you have suggestions for late night Mexican, I'd love them. There is always great Mexican open late in Hollywood, and there was a great spot in Bell, but sadly the last I looked, it's gone and the building is listed on Loopnet. read more

They get a 5 star cause I've been coming here for years. I love their food, i love the music, i love the ambience they create. The prices have went up a little, but still affordable, the amount of food they give you is more than enough. When I say when up that's with like 10 years lol. So they deserved to raise their prices a little . I really wish they started using Postmates, grub hub, or Uber eats cause I would love to have the food delivered, especially with these times. Although when you do order a pick up order, they have it ready in under 20mins. Almost every time. First time here with my family. It's close to my cousin's house and they come here often. The food was really fresh and absolutely loved the albondigas soup. Really good flavor, although it could have used some potatoes and carrots - the way my mom makes it. Anyway, highly recommend for that Mexican comfort food, not absolutely authentic is what I am told but good enough for me and my pocha-ness. The staff is also excellent, really good service and the food is delivered with the usual " hot plate" warning often heard when a plate of yummy Mexican food arrives with that gorgeous melted cheese on top of the refried beans. I had the carne asada street tacos and they were really good, plenty of meat and you get 3 with rice and beans for about $10. All I can say is my kids cleaned their plates. read more

Used to go here many years ago I went here in May 2024 and was very disappointed. The food had no flavor. The service was marginal and the top things off. I ordered a midori which you know is green and they brought me a margarita that was clear that tasted kinda like one but it was a knock off. There are so many Mexican restaurants restaurants in Southern California to choose from so many better ones. I guess you can say I am currently stuck in a bit of a rut when it comes to quality food joints. This Casa Gamino location is one I have been visiting off and on for many years but the quality of both the food and service has drastically gone downhill and was almost non-existent during my most recent visit. While helping my mom move and looking for a place to eat, it was my idea to come here for a tasty bite to eat. For a Friday night at 6:00 the we had no trouble finding seating and were quickly given menus to look over. It took around 5 minutes or so for our waiter for the night to come to the table to take the drink orders and drop off the chips and salsa which was a bit slow but gave us more than enough time to look over the menu (which seems to have changed since my last visit). My mom wanted chicken enchiladas which were nowhere to be found on the menu but when asked was told they had them and she put in her order. I quickly followed with a wet chicken, rice and bean burrito with red sauce as well as a half an half order of rice and beans on the side. The food was very slow to come out of the kitchen and was brought out by a different gentleman than our server. In all it probably took close to 15-20 for the food to come out which allowed me time to watch the Dodgers choke away a 6-1 lead in the Playoffs...ugh. The chicken enchiladas looked very bland in their appearance and presentation as based off my moms review of the food it was just as bland to the taste. She quickly poured the salsa from the chips over the rice and enchiladas in hopes of salvaging the dish but nothing seemed to help. The burrito I received was far smaller than most places and definitely smaller than I remember from previous visits. I was also dismayed when I cut into the burrito to see it was simply a tortilla filled with chicken, no rice or beans or cheese in sight other than the red sauce on top (which barely covered the top). I took a couple bites hoping to find the missing ingredients within but to no avail. Our server did not check on the service, never offered refills until nearly 20-30 minutes into the meal after we were basically done. Casa Gamino used to have a manager go table to table to check on your service but none of that happened on this day. To make matters worse about halfway through the burrito I bit into a piece of chicken that was very bitter and discolored. I took a bite from the opposite side and the same thing, the chicken appeared to have gone bad. The prices have gone up, the portions were smaller, the service was non-existent and the food was flavorless and bland throughout. The bad chicken was the icing on the proverbial cake that has ruined the place for me going forward. All the good memories I had of Casa Gamino are now gone and I more than likely will never return. read more

My friends and I decided to meet up for lunch on 10-30-20 at about 1pm. The place was nice and cozy. You needed to walk through to go to the back to get seated outside. The place was nice and clean and everyone seemed friendly. We were seated and the waiter came and greeted us and took our order. He brought our drinks pretty fast. Roberto the waiter was pleasant. This place is VERY good you get a ton of food for a good price. We were served chips and salsa right away and got our drinks fast. We were served our meal within 15 mins.The albondigas soup was really good we also had the topo nachos and the plate was huge and the price was great. All of the servers were very nice and welcoming and came back with whatever we asked for right away. We got to sit inside at the booths and the restaurant was very clean and welcoming inside. A plus was the dodger game was playing and they gave us to go cups with a full refill in it. This place love using salt or the cook has no taste buds. Ordered reg Carne Asada burrito and a wet asada burrito. The regular carne asada burrito was salty. The burrito fell apart while taking first couple bites due to being soggy from what ever liquids inside. Came here last night for dinner and really enjoyed it. First off, I had a lime margarita and it was one of the best margaritas ive had in so cal. For dinner I had the Chicken Enchiladas Suiza with rice and beans, and boy oh boy was I more than satisfied. Everything was seasoned so well, especially the chicken. Sometimes Mexican restaurants seem to skimp on seasoning the filling of an enchilada and rely too much on the sauce, but this was a great. Had a little spice. Also the beans were really good. I love Casa Gamino! The prices are cheap, you get real authentic Mexican cuisine and the service is super fast! I've been to their Inglewood and Paramount locations and they're both great, but Paramount is a bit closer to me. It's never too crowded and I'm always seated right upon entry. The service is great and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive and kind. I've only dined for dinner but with your dinner entree you get complimentary chips and salsa as well as your choice of soup or salad to start. I highly recommend getting their albondigas soup. It is delicious! Meaty and packed with flavor. The food is great and they give you very nice portions as well. I always leave with a to-go box. This is my local go-to Mexican restaurant.
