Just like Kimberly M. I decided to write a review because I don't understand the negative ones. I have been coming to this restaurant twice a year since 2005 and I have never had a bad meal, bad service or a bad experience. The food is fresh, the dipping bread is great and they are very accommodating. They are a bit pricy, even for the area, but if you want a change of pace place with good food and not have to worry about bringing your own wine you can't beat this place. If there's a negative it's that they have a small parking lot so you'll most likely have to park behind the lot and out the gate in a residential neighborhood, other than that I definitely recommend this place. read more

I've been here twice now, both times for a luncheon. Only a few blocks from MetroPark, so I suspect they aim to stay pretty busy. My first visit was fine. Food was nothing spectacular. It was the service during my second visit here in a group of about 12 people that really knocked it down a few stars. Why? Two things: -- the excessive refilling of sparking water. This has to be some sort of restaurant trick to make sure they are can charge as many bottles of Pellegrino as they could. I kid you not, my glass was filled to the rim ... at all times. Never had the opportunity to squeeze any limes or lemons because if I did, my drink would spill out of the glass. -- the tapping on the shoulders to get one's attention. Really? Not a soft tap or resting of the hand. No, rather it was an impatient and persistent tapping as if he was attempting morse code. In writing, these things appear to be minor but, at the time, the service felt rushed and panicked. My penne alla vodka dish I wish were creamier. Most at the table thoroughly enjoyed their striped sea bass special. Hopefully, they will soon realize that attentive service doesn't mean filling up water glasses every 2 minutes. read more

This place is owned by most unprofessional and dishonest people, I was a regular costumer until I was lied to about a certain brand white wine, he took my phone number and never received a call back after bringing 6 people for Mother's Day Dinner I was told he couldn't get a 10 dollar bottle a wine!My bill was $ 650 plus a generous tip, hope he enjoyed loosing a good costumer, he was nasty and no apology when we left!!I and my friends will never go there again!!! read more

Normally I'd be a little more reasonable between separating food and service, but the amount of attitude from the staff - top to bottom - was absurd. We made reservations for today (Mother's Day) weeks prior, and we and were told we had to wait 90 minutes beyond our 2:30 reservation. This was because they had to accommodate other guests for longer periods of time than expected and these same parties brought more guests than they originally said. Not sure how that's our problem, a group of ten from various parts of NJ, LI, and even NC, and after some back and forth of pointing that fact out, they prepared a table in the back by 3pm. We will get back to that start time of sitting down. After seeing more moms walk in with roses, I decided to get three for our table that we did not initially receive for our moms we were celebrating. I was told by the GM that I couldn't have any because, you know, it's not right for me to ask. He was overruled by his boss (the owner). Whatever, they had a bucket of 100 purposed for the moms but I guess we were already a pain for wanting to sit down at 2:30. Food was good - everyone seemed to enjoy the appetizers, soups, wine and beer, dinners, and dessert. We opened gifts while eating dessert, amongst a wait staff who had an, how should I say, affinity for slamming plates and not cleaning up the other previously used dishes and silverware. We created nice stacks for them to help and keep the good time we were having celebrating the mothers. Back to why 2:30 is important - owner came back to us AFTER PAYING the 800 dollar bill telling us we needed to leave because he had to turn 6 people away. Apparently he couldn't accommodate them after we had spent over "three hours" taking our time. It was our fault he said. You're all smart reading this - you do the math on how much time we were actually sitting there. Needless to say, 800 dollars gets you the proverbial verbal middle finger and the realization you're in a poser Italian establishment - because no real Italian restaurant would EVER throw guests out in such a manner as Casa Giuseppe So we won't be back - I flew up from NC to spend time with my mom and have to sit here typing this in the first place because this restaurant could not figure out how to properly book a holiday rush. They know how to charge a ton of money, though, for the same holiday - and clearly were more focused on that than actually running a restaurant with class. We met family we hadn't seen for a while and they had been to this restaurant before. Our reservation for 8 people was at 6:30 and we arrived on time. We had driven 90 minutes to come here. The food was OK, nothing special but the service was fine. That was until the hostess decided we had overstayed our welcome and kept telling us she had people waiting for our table. Other tables were lingering over dessert but we were told this before we even had coffee. She consistently came over and showed her displeasure with us until we left the restaurant at 8:45 when she said she had allotted us 2-1/2 hours which was not true. When we told her how disappointed we were, she became more rude. I have never had that happen to me in any restaurant anywhere and neither I nor the rest of the people will ever return there. read more

Went there by chance for my company's year end dinner party. Excellent food! Loved the appetizers! - Stuffed mushrooms - Portabella al Balsamico - Calamaretti Fritti Just to name a few. I had the filet mignon (Filetto di Manzo Al Pepe), medium rare. Ahhh...awesome. For dessert the served Tiramisu and a Cannoli. Best Tiramisu I have had in a long while. Wow! Highly recommended. Food is absolutely delicious. I had the Jumbo Shrimp & Artichoke with angel hair pasta in a pink cream sauce... very delicious with a glass of Chianti. I'm giving 4 stars due to service. Service was good however the waiter we had appeared to be off task. He asked what we wanted to drink, I said, May I have a wine menu. Then in addition we had to also ask for the dinner menu. Being maybe 3 of 4 tables and us arriving around 8:30 or 9, we felt rushed. Then he kept lingering around our table so environment wasn't as comfortable. Not sure if he was family of the restaurant but I def would be giving a 5 stars if his service was slightly better. On another note, my friends ordered the Lobster Ravioli and they loved it... Had a lovely dinner here! Very cozy elegant ambience. You will find very less options if you are vegetarian but they were kind enough to whip something up. That said it's not the greatest dish. The patrons are well dressed so suit up! Parking is small but just about enough for the restaurant. They take reservations and you should make one! I was in Edison for a week of training. I wanted to eat Italian at least one night as NJ/NY Italian completely knocks the socks off anything I can get in Seattle. I went out exploring one night with another trainee. Our hotel recommended two places, saying both were quite good, with Casa Guiseppe having the advantage of serving wine, which the other did not. Thinking a glass of red would complement our meals nicely, we went for Casa Guiseppe. I'm so glad we did. First off, the food was magnificent. From the complimentary bruschetta we were brought when we were first seated to our very last bite, nothing disappointed. I noticed the menu had two prices for each item. When I asked if the lower price represented the lunch price, or perhaps à la carte, the waiter first said which one they charge depends on how much they like you :--). But, he then explained that the lower price is, in fact, the price. This apparently is some sort of "recession menu," and it made already not unreasonable prices even more so. But, the best part about the place was the service. As others have mentioned, it is impeccable. It is the perfect balance of being just attentive enough, without being intrusive or overbearing. We were made to feel very welcome and very appreciated. The wait staff accommodated, without hesitation, our various "business travel" requests: separate checks, copy of itemized check, etc. This brought the final tip up a notch. In short, Casa Guiseppe provided me with happy memory of good food and good people that I'll long hold when I think of this trip to the Garden State. read more

This place is as good as it gets when you want real AUTHENTIC italian food. I have been here twice for work occasions and I have not been disappointed yet. We started off with some amazing antipasto, calamari, eggplant parm, and these AMAZING portobello mushrooms sauteed in vinagrette. AMAZEBALLS. The appetizers are really good. The second time I was here I tried their fish of the day which was a yellow fin tuna wrapped in a italian bacon with a mango seasoning on top. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the mango sauce so I asked for it on the side. Everything was so tasty and the owner/waiters are so friendly. The owner walks around to every table and regularly checks up on you to make sure the food is good. The prices are also very decent. Decent prices for GREAT food. I reserved Casa Giuseppe to host a bridal shower and I am so glad that I did. Aside from the modern renovation, the restaurant's space to host 20 guests was perfect and had an ambiance that made the guests feel very comfortable. Pasquale and his staff accommodated all of my requests with a smile. Pasquale reassured me and made sure to go above and beyond to make the event special. The staff was professional and had the space set up in time to allow me to decorate all the details with no rush. The staff communicated with me to orchestrate dinner in a smooth fashion, and my guests never had to ask for drinks, napkins, utensils, etc. All of the guests complimented the professionalism from the waiters. Dinner was spectacular. Generally, I have found great venues with mediocre food, or great food in a mediocre venue, not Casa Giuseppe! Casa Giuseppe is beautiful restaurant with tasty food, and great service; did I mention the tastiest Sangrias! I chose this place based on the location and Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I want to return. Now. I arrived early and was seated. Everyone was nice and the service outstanding. The bread they serve with EVOO looks like it just came out of a furnace with its thick crust and warm soft center. For my lunch I had the special of the day which was Chilean sea bass. It was moist and flavorful. The fish was served with asparagus and broccoli that were crunchy and fresh. The potatoes on the dish had a browned seared outside. All delicious. My sister and I decided to go to this place thinking it's good italian restaurant. We saw 4starts on yelp so thought we will give a try. And we ordered there special risotto. And my sister found hair in the food. And when we called the server he said what do you want me to do and then he called the manager and she said may be its your hair it was small hair. I have long hair and they did not even apologize. The manager name was Trish Casy. And she was absolutely rude and mean.To begin the food was horrible and so was customer care they dont care. Good Evening Everyone, I'm a 33 year old divorced pregnant woman of 30 weeks from Central NJ. I live nearly right across the street from Casa Giuseppe. I usually never write any reviews however I write this with a heavy heart. I entered this restaurant with my sister and children hoping to experience something new, however we were met with hostility and anger from the moment we entered.I ordered a chef's special filet mignon and my sister ordered a risotto. We found a hair in the risotto deep inside the dish. I'm a woman with long hair and this could be easily identified as hair from a male due to its length. I spoke to a Trish Casey and explained to her my observation. She was reluctant to believe it was anyone from the restaurant. She said verbatim "Are you sure it wasn't your hair, pregnant woman tend to be sloppy and forgetful." I was in complete shock at her customer service. I'm not the kind of person that advocates for the phrase customer is always right but this employee was completely brutal. I'm a God fearing woman with two children with me. I wish I had the strength to move on and let this go. I'm completely shattered and appalled by this individual and wish her great disdain. I normally assume that women should have some sort of solidarity and some latitude should also be demonstrated towards pregnant women however we were charged the full price of the meal without any discount from the final bill. I have never felt so insulted in my life. I pray to god that a higher a power witnessed this event and this Trish gets the help she needs until then I hope you can give her the full wrath that I feel right now. read more

How are there not more reviews for this place? We go here every time I visit a big client in Newark and I wind up drooling for about a week in anticipation. The food, the ambiance and the people are all absolutely top notch. We tend to run up a good-sized tab on appetizers and drinks, but the prices for individual items are totally reasonable. Only giving 1 star because of an issue recently. We normally go to Giuseppe's a lot but we had an issue while scheduling a party. After booking and signing a contract and sending out invites for my sons baptism lunch I was told the week before I had to guarantee which is how many we invited and we never spoke about a minimum for the party but they even said only about 80% of total ppl invited come which would of put us right where we were at 60+ so the options wereither pay for 80 (which is the total we invited), cancel the party or get bottles of wine for the table and I wasn't allowed to choose the wine if I chose that option. Obviously this isn't something you want to deal with 10days before the party so because of that I give them 0 stars for service and 4 stars for the food. read more

Went out for a nice dinner with my wife and another couple. We had 11 glasses of wine between the 4 of us, at no point did the waiter suggest buying a bottle instead of serving glass after glass. Be careful if you are a wine drinker. Any house Pinot/Cabernet $15.00 a glass. When I paid the bill it seemed a bit high at $405.00 but did not really look at it until next day. When I realized that we were charged $165.00 for wine I called and asked why they didn't offer a bottle instead, no response simple it is what it is response!! I will NEVER go to this place again and will make sure no one I know attends. What was more bothersome was the way the manager responded to my issue, basically could care less. My suggestion was to correct and charge me for 2 bottles of wine which would have been half the cost but instead said sorry too late. Side vegetable for a main entree that gosts 30+ dollars is PEAS? and some cut of corn on the cob maybe half a corn if that? Seafood was bad, overcooked, chewy. Asked for a drink menu and was told " we have everything". 5 star pricing with 2 star food, music blasting so loud the waiters cant possibly hear you. The rest of the review is a little picky, but the bottom line is that this is a great place; I'd definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend. The rest of the review: not the best Italian food I've ever had, but pretty good. Had a house salad and a monk fish special. The salad was very fresh; the fish was tasty, but could have been more flavorful. I like the sauce they put with the fish, but would have preferred a little more. The vegetable mix underneath the fix included braised spinach, and it was out of sight. Followed dinner with some hazelnut gelato; good flavor, but it contained some ice chunks, which made me wonder how fresh it was. Now about the service: stellar. Unbelievable. What can I say about Casa Giuseppe that you don't already know? Fresh, delicious, authentic Italian dishes, served beautifully. Take a look at the presentations I shared. This was a business lunch setting, but they treated us like family. Unpictured is the 'family style' appetizers they offered to serve my party of 5. Nice variety of servings, and not overpriced, as if they were trying to pad the check. This was a nice set of options for the table. Then, my main course: Langostino lobster w/crab stuffing, a well balanced plate, and reasonably priced. And then, that desert. How beautiful is that orange sherbert? The food is out of this world delicious. Their meats are tender and recipes homemade. We started off with an Eggplant Rollatini and Four-Cheese Fried Ravioli. Both were extremely tasty and just the right portion sizes for four people. My mother and father both had the braciole which was unbelievably tender. The braciole is served with pasta but the meat is all you really need since it is that good. My husband had a steak on special that was both tender and tasty. The service is also really attentive. One positive thing I can say about the place is the food was delicious. However, the waiter made our dinner very uncomfortable with his attitude and obvious displeasure of having to serve us. I didn't get his name because of how quick I wanted to leave the restaurant. I strongly believe in my opinion it's because of our nationality that the server gave us horrible service. Once a family of a particular race came in he was all smiles and joking with them but with us he was horrible. I will NOT return to this restaurant ever again. We came here on a Saturday night for my dad's birthday dinner. The service was so impeccable that it was like you were afraid to drop a crumb! It has a very old school, classy feel which is rare to find in Iselin/Edison... especially since the dress code is casual. Good food (one of the better Italian places I've been to in the area) at really nice prices. My lobster ravioli was the table favorite, as I wound up only getting to taste a few pieces since everyone just HAD to try one... The recession special is wonderful. My uncle usually chooses pretty good places to go, but maybe the place is just too New Jersey. To much creme, too much butter and too much guido. Not their fault, but the table next to us could have been sitting on top of us they were so loud and racous. Had dinner on 12/3/2016 with a friend. Selected the restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. I think Pasquale (owner according to the other reviews was behind the bar and wished me by my name as I left) was friendly way. The food was very good. We had a nice bottle of wine and our tab for two was just over $200 which is pricey but I knew that going in. I had tuna with asparagus and my friend had chicken scarpariello. It came with some vegetables, peas (simply boiled and seasoned) and mashed potatoes "tower." We both finished every single crumb of food on our plates. Delicious! Appetizers were also good. I did not have dessert (only cappuccino, and my friend had creme brulee which was good, though not exceptional.) Our server was friendly and made us feel comfortable. The ambiance is friendly and comfortable but not commensurate with the price tag. The rooms are small and tables are close so it becomes noisy. The wait staff is competent and attentive but do appear a little rough for a $$$ establishment. So go there if you want a delicious meal with a flair (maybe an anniversary dinner) but not if you want to impress someone with your sophistication. (Below 5, but not quite 4!) read more
