My boyfriend and I intended to get the $12 pizza deal from Whole Foods on a Friday, but didn't realize that they stopped making pizza at 7 pm. In search of a pizza spot to fulfill a craving we walked to La Rosa's. When you enter the pizzeria, you can either order at the counter or dine-in in an adjacent area. We sat down and ordered a 16" pizza with half steak and half green peppers and an order of 6 garlic knots. The garlic knots were delicious, but we both agreed it could have been more garlicky. When the pizza came out, we saw that there was no steak as we ordered. Our waitress was very apologetic and it was fine, but we were looking forward to steak on the pizza. The pizza itself was only alright. The bottom of the pizza was a bit soggy and not crispy and the cheese was not very attached to the pizza and seemed to fall apart. Overall, La Rosa's was ok, but we would try another pizza spot in Metuchen next time.

Everything here is delicious! I like the pizza here because the crust is thin and crispy and the sauce is flavorful. They are generous with the pizza toppings. I've had the lasagna a few times, some of the pasta dishes, the veggetable panini, an eggplant Parmesan sub, and salads. I've enjoyed the flavor of absolutely everything I have ever eaten here! This is a friendly family run business and the customer service is excellent. I usually get my order to go, although I have sat at the counter and had pizza on my lunch break. There is a dining area to the side that is a little more fancy but I have not been there for table service. There is free public parking in a large lot behind the restaurant. Please note, this is NOT the same restaurant as the nearby LaRosa Chicken and Grill. That has different owners. This LaRosa's was here first! (I am surprised that another business with such a similar name was allowed to open just a stone's throw away.)

I got food from them last night. The chicken was half burned and half all it was chicken fingers. They said that they were going to bring me another order. They never did the pizza. I got a large pizza pie Penny Lavaca with breaded chicken on top with the breaded chicken it was also raw in half burn I called. They told me impossible that's how they serve. It refused to give me a refund after they told me they were going to bring the chicken fingers back they never did very disappointed. I ordered from them always, and it never happened to me before. $61 damage drain we couldn't even eat it.

Best food in metuchen. Everything on their menu is delicious. The service was phenomenal, very nice people and the food came out very quick. This is a Italian family owned pizzeria that serves top quality food. Starting with the garlic bread. It was the perfect amount of garlic and the perfect crunch. Fluffy on the inside. You can tell that the bread was made fresh. I ate the whole basket. We ordered one plate of calamari, which could feed a whole family. Very delicious. The veggie pizza was very phenomenal, prob one of the best veggie pizzas I ever had. The veggies were very fresh as if they grown it themselves. And the best for last. The penne vodka was AMAZING. It was my personal favorite. They give you a lot for your money. Growing up in an old school Italian family, I am very particular with my pasta. Therefore I was speechless. If I could give this a 6 star I would, La Rosas is the best in the business!

This was a small place with about 15 tables. There were some photos from different parts of Italy I believe too. The menu was like a traditional pizzeria except the prices. The prices were very reasonable. The service was alright. We were not asked if we wanted dessert. The check just came. The bread that started the meal was the best food of the night. It had a slight crunch with a good amount of seasoning on top too. It was a good start. I went with the Romanellis ($13.50). It came with a side house salad where there were no complaints. The Romanellis was pasta stuffed with cheese in a creamy sundried tomato sauce with mushrooms and parmesan cheese. The pasta seemed to be homemade and was nothing like I have seen before. It was similar to a ravioli I would say. The sauce was ideal and went well with the mushrooms. I also tried the shrimp parmigiana. It was not very good. The sauce was bland and there was too much breading on the shrimp. The only positive was the number of shrimp present. Will I go back? Debatable.

First, it is VERY loud in the restaurant, hard to have a conversation without talking very loud. While the service people were very nice, the service was so - so. They took about 20 minutes to come over, we ordered cocktails and an pasta as an appetizer. It took about 20 mins for them to bring bread after we ordered. Then the cocktails and app came out immediately after. Cocktails are meant to be enjoyed before your dinner, not during it. While the cocktail was fine, I wasn't interest in having it at this point. I had a couple of sips. The bread they brought out was fantastic. One of the best breads ever. The pasta was amazing. I really enjoyed it. We had the buccatini with guaclian (sp?). So I really looking forward to the Pizza. We put in the order for our pizza, went to the men's room and when I came back the pizza was on our table. Very strange it was so fast in less than 5 minutes. I am sorry to say the pizza was horrible. Soggy crust and dry pizza, not sure how that is even possible. Crust and pizza in general had no taste. I had this strange feeling the pizza might be premade and maybe they just add the topping for your order I don't know. Overall, it was very much a tale of 2 cities. Iffy service and horrid pizza. Yet great bread and pasta.

Over the years I have heard nothing but good from friends -- "Excellent" "Exactly like they make it in Florence!" "Best Italian food I've ever tasted." I went with a party of four. For appetizers we split the Polpo E Patate (grilled octopus & potatoes) and Patate Fritte (French fries). The octopus was amazing, tender almost like perfect scallops with a tasty pesto. The French fries with herbs, garlic bread crumbs and pesto were crunchy, tasty, delicious. For mains my companions had Branzino with eggplant carponata, an amazing 4-cheese Gnocchi, and swordfish. I tasted all, and all were spot on; everyone loved their main course. I had Linguini Vongole (clams and linguini); the clams were perfect - tender and tasty; but the star of the show was the homemade linguine, seasoned perfectly and cooked to al dente perfection. We finished with cappuccino and Tiramasu. The service was excellent. Attentive and quick, and our waitress, Merin, was able to answer every question about the menu with authority, and even about the ingredients and preparation. The ambiance is understated, relaxed, and what you hope for when enjoying a special meal. I am quite stingy in passing out 5-Star ratings; I reserve them for the best of the best, for restaurants where I'm confident readers will also enjoy an outstanding meal. Please note that you may like this type of "thin crust". The bottom of the crust felt and tasted like maybe it's over coated with cornmeal; the texture felt gritty crunchy. This would work if anyone prefers this texture. The sauce just tasted like it was freshly ladled over (no oven baked in flavor). The topping left very little space for the crust edge. I am still stuck on how unfamiliar the crust texture was. I am used to thin crust texture from raised bread dough not a corn-meal like feel. Another reviewer was also baffled with the crust. Reheat review: unfortunately, was not convincing to nudge up the rating. From tip to mid way of the slice, the structure was floppy. From mid way to the edge of the slice: structure held up. Flavor was still good, maybe now better tasting bc sauce now tasted baked in because of the re heating. Service was on time.
