What a find! My new favorite Mexican place! The building is really run down, but the Good news is, they are moving across town soon to a better location! Yay!!! The name & food will remain the same we were told. So awesome. Bc we love the food at Casa Grande! (Big house) They make this amazing dish of cut up ribeye covered in cheese & set on fire, It comes with a plate of perfect French fries! So it's like a Mexican Cheese Steak frits! It's really really good!! It's called cheese steak flambé and it's the BOMB!! I had to come back ASAP to have it again it was so good. And again, it was the BOMB! It was even better the second time if that is possible. Get it! :)... Anyhoo, so the frozen Margarita machine was down but I had a Margarita on the rocks & it was very good. There are 2 for 1 drink specials all week too. Ole! The ice tea is also very nice. Everything is scratch made here. The steak fajitas I had the first visit were so yummy they had all these tiny cut seared veggies in them. The addition of the thin seared zucchini really made them off the chart. Very good tender beef Fajitas. Get them! :)... The second visit I had the shrimp Diablo. And it was even better than the beef fajitas! The shrimp Diablo was killer! It has giant juicy shrimp in this beautiful Smokey sauce, not too spicy just right. And it comes with a giant avocado pico salad rice & beans 2.die.4! Can't wait to have their shrimp Diablo again! WOZA! Delightful indeed Get it! :)... The chips and salsa were really good too & they have a hot salsa that is HOT! Like really good but 5 alarm hot! I ate the whole thing both visits. Really unique in house made hot salsa. Ask for it. :)... Anyhoo, we love this place & can't wait till they move into the new location! The steak frits cheese steak flambé & shrimp Diablo are two of the best Mexican dishes I've had in a long time & I eat Mexican constantly. Very creative & original. Ok, this is a remote location... Florida is very very far from Mexico but you must consider two competing ideas; 1) the margaritas were great... best thing here 2) the ingredients for the food were anything but homemade. With exception of the "table side" guacamole that was made in the kitchen upon our order. Gordon Ramsey would have sent all the food back. everything back ...except for the guacamole. Nothing seemed to be made fresh "except for the guacamole and margaritas". The corn tortillas broke in half because they weren't fresh which made flour tortillas at least functional for the fajitas. The protein (beef and chicken) were little bitty cut up pieces of meat instead of strips of chicken and marinated skirt steak. The shrimp were okay, The covered in a white queso. Tomato My wife's enchilada sauce taste like tomatoes tasted like tomato soup. Clearly a clueless population that either drinks more than one margarita for eating the food or has no clue what Mexican food is supposed to taste like and Willing to give this place four stars. Food is 2stars, but the Margaritas and the guacamole dig them out of a hole. Plus the service was good And the sign was funny. read more

Pretty good food, but I don't exactly like the bar-like atmosphere . However my husband the pool shark loves this place because he can eat and play pool too. It's his fav lunch-date place so everyone has their own opinion but regardless you really can't go wrong if you choose this restaurant. read more

In town for the first time and of course had to visit my faithful Yelp for reviews on restaurants in the area. After reading a few I decided to give Casa Grande a chance. First I would like to say the employees ALL are very friendly and courteous. The restaurant was nice and clean. I called in my order and when I arrived only had to wait about 10 mins for it. The Taco Salad was good, chicken had a good flavor as well as the guacamole. I was also provided nice hot crunchy tortillas and salsa. I try to be fair in my reviews and I hope I stay that way. They got a two start because the service was excellent. Of course being asked what you want to drink before you even sit down was annoying but it was just a minor thing. Our server was great. The food? Boring. I had the three street tacos, two chicken and one meat. I don't do cilantro so he offered onions instead. Great! Didn't help. My SIL who actually likes bland food, ordered the enchiladas that came with rice and beans. Boring and bland. I, who never salts anything, reached for the salt the same time she did. Some of their food is good. They have elote cups which I LOVE but they tend to over salt their chicken and beef on everything it's in.

I would like to start out by saying we are quite picky about our Mexican food. We went to this location for the third time ( the first two were not stellar) as we like to give the benefit of the doubt. My wife ordered a shrimp dish, and I ordered the loaded nachos, no onion. While waiting for our food, the owner or manager came out. We chatted, and I asked for hot sauce. The food arrived, and the waiter brought the hot sauce. We were there at an off time, on a weekday, 3-3:30ish. I put the hot sauce on my nachos and began mixing it, when my wife stopped me. She saw a hair as I was combining the sour cream, guacamole, peppers and hot sauce. Upon further inspection, there was a black thing that resembled a small fly or gnat at the edge of the chips and cheese. We summoned the waiter and pointed these out. He took it back to the kitchen and returned after a short time, with a replacement. We weren't given any kind of discount, and after reaching out to the owner/manager on social media, to which I received no response, I decided to write a review. I was hoping for a more positive experience, but am left to drive an hour to the two nearest, better Mexican Restaurants. One is in Live Oak, the other in Madison. read more

Given the democratic process agreed upon in the car, we opted for Casa Grande. New to us, yet clearly a go-to place for those yearning for a li'l taste of "viejo Mexico" in the big 32347/48. We drove right by a place billing itself as "Old Mexico" (if there are fans of it - perhaps enter it in Yelp, right?). In any case, we had a good dinner, consisting of guac/queso/salsa and chips for starters - followed by tacos, chimchangas, and bistek Mexicana as entrees. After driving in and through Perry a few times, we noticed this Mexican restaurant always had quite a few cars in their lot. Thought we would give it a go. Atmosphere, not what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. Kind of plain . Menu had a lot of options, decent prices. I ordered the beef (ground) burrito with beans. Came with a bit of sour cream and guacamole. It also had a very small amount of red sauce on top. Hubby ordered the three enchiladas, two chicken, one cheese. Lots of good white meat. They offer all day two for one happy hour drinks. We had margaritas on the rocks. Not very memorable. Food was hot, but very, very bland. Perfect for those who don't usually care for mexican food due to, too much heat or spice. Service was excellent. But we won't be back. read more

He is a really good person and runs a great restaurant. I have been there several times, the Shrimp Appetizer is my favorite, they do a great Mexican chicken breast. Much larger and better than anticipated, this is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant with all the regular stand-bys that you know and love. Big portions and appropriate pricing, you can definitely have a nice and filling meal without breaking the bank. To be honest there are not a lot of restaurants to chose from in Perry, FL. We have tried them all thru the years. We find Casa Grande to offer consistent good food & service. Their menu is extensive & offers all the great Mexican meals you would want. I had the fajitas quesadilla & guacamole salad. Husband had enchiladas with rice & beans. All yummy! They have happy hour ALL THE TIME! 2 margaritas for $7. Also 2for1 tequila shots & beer. The night we visited there was also a guy singing country, he was good. The next morning my husband discovered he had left his credit card at the restaurant. They had locked it up in the cash drawer & called in the manager to open it for us before we left town. This place is fantastic! I live in Tallahassee and pass through Perry occasionally. Whenever I do, I eat at Casa Grande. The ingredients are fresh and food is delicious. I grow tired of going to Mexican Restaurants only to experience mediocre quality and crappy service. Not at Casa Grande! Their food is excellent and service is awesome. I love the Mexican Chicken served with delicious queso and pico de gaillo. The salsa is also excellent. I met and now know one of the owners and he is very professional as well. This was the worst restaurant meal I have ever experienced. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants - everything from street carts and hot dog stands to 5-star sit-down establishments. This place tops the list for terrible. The entire experience was bad. It was not an expensive place but at any price it was overcharged for poor food and tragically awful service. The food was terrible. It was not fresh and poorly presented. Between the four of us nobody ate more than 10% of the meal. It looked bad and tasted worse. Service was sadly poor. We ordered enchiladas, chalupas and fajitas. This is really standard fare for a Mexican restaurant and the place was not busy yet it took over an hour to get our food. When it finally arrived everything came on separate plates. Orders were not correct - Items were missing or wrong. We also ordered margaritas - these were every bit as bad as the food. We reordered the drinks directly from the bar hoping the waitress simply translated our order wrong. Unfortunately the second try was no better than the first.. I feel like anyplace we went to would have been better. I prefer to focus on the positive but this restaurant had no redeeming qualities. We just left the restaurant and we're going to McDonald's (Across the street) for something to eat. We will regret it later but at least the food is edible. I live in the panhandle and drive to Tampa bay often. This is a favorite stop for food (and Dos Equis on tap when I'm the passenger!). There is another particularly good restaurant in Perry, but it sometimes feels like they'd prefer not to deal with those who aren't local. The staff at Casa Grande always gives a very warm welcome when you walk in the door. The food is really authentic, fresh Mexico can fare. Shrimp dishes are particularly good, as is the Southwest quesadilla and table side quacamole. I am obsessed with the shrimp a la Diabla. It's an amazing smoky sauce, the like of which I've never tasted other than the Frontera Grill in Chicago -- but I caution it is hot. This place is such a gem...so glad to have discovered it! read more
