Grilled shrimp, bay scallops & grilled veggies
    Jamie H.

Had a fantastic lunch at this little restaurant on the main drag in Live Oak. This seat-yourself restaurant boasts an enclosed patio, bar area & indoor dining. The full bar also has a really fun list of mixed drinks, plus frozen cocktails & a modest wine list. We stopped in for a late lunch & enjoyed splitting the fried mushrooms with a horse radish/mustard dipping sauce that wasn't super hot or spicy. Our entrees were flavorful beef tips with a tasty brown gravy over rice and a side of turnip greens & creamed corn, as well as a grilled shrimp skewer, fried diver scallops & grilled veggies. Everything was well seasoned & perfectly cooked!

I love the burgers, and the coleslaw is exceptional. Today I had fresh snapper, fried, on point. Friendly folks and good atmosphere.

It's not far from the heart of downtown Live Oak and not far from the railroad tracks, either, of which you become quickly aware when a freight train passes by. Despite the small space, they have a pool table inside, a bar (of course) and that pool table doubles as a buffet table when they have potlucks and the like. There is apparently also an outdoor tiki bar area in the yard behind the building but I didn't go back there. Beer is the preferred spirit it seems and the crowd is about 99% locals, mostly middle-aged but some in their early to mid twenties. The theme therefore is country/biker to an extent but they were playing old hard rocks standards when I was there and then . . . something . . . not sure what it was, but some song I remember from the early 2000s that probably was Linkin Park or a band that copied Linkin Park. So aside from the B-list or C-list early 2000s blast from the past, a very cool and low-key bar in a very handy location in Live Oak.

Especially, the abundance of free parking in downtown Lake City. The Friday night I was there, there was music bingo and a live band. They have a "Culture of Generosity" where you can buy a beer forward. I actually got to be the recipient of one of those free beers. And of course, I paid it forward. The BEER: Seymour-Finnegan's Irish Red Ale 5.7%... smooth slightly sweet great tasting all day crushable goodness Hop Culture IPA 6.5% ABV... looks like a hazy, tastes like a west coast, definitely high in IBUs, has fruity pine nose, good if you love your IPAs extra piney, so very hop forward Pickle Sour 4.5% ABV... oh he11 yummm, I absolutely love this pickle sour. They had several guest beers and a couple of vodka sodas on tap. I got my standard flight and wanted to try their beers, so I got a red ale, a wit bier, a pumpkin style and a hazy IPA. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out either. Everything was solid. We didn't eat here but the menu looked solid. They had a Mississippi pot roast (Similiar to an Italian beef) wrap that sounded great. If I were a local, I'd definitely come back to try out the food.

I'd read the reviews and they were supposed to have the coldest beer in Florida and the best burgers. What's not to like about that? We had great service, great food, great prices, and actually stayed there much longer than we planned. If we ever have to come back through this way and stay, I will definitely go back there for another great Cajun burger, and a couple of cold beers..

It is definitely a neighborhood bar and the locals are all friendly as was the bartender Melanie. There are a couple of pool tables, dart boards and a jukebox. It was a decent burger and much bigger than I expected. My friend got the club sandwich and it looked impressive as well. We ended up shooting pool and chatting with some of the regulars and left in the wee hours of the morning. Melanie was hustling all night as the bartender and the cook. She was on top of it all night. We were in town to scuba dive and are on to our next destination, otherwise we would have returned. Great little dive bar. Friendly staff and locals. Decent bar food.
