I stopped in to place an order for takeout. I was greeted as soon as I entered and offered a menu. My order was taken promptly and I grabbed a seat to wait for my order. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Great service. When I opened up my order, it was hot and so much food. Beneath the foil were the rice and the beans. Several flour tortillas and a few different hot sauces were included. Everything was excellent. I saved some leftovers for the next day. This place has THE BEST TACOS EVER!!! I've eaten tacos everywhere in Texas from Houston to Austin to San Antonio and this place has some of the best pastor and beef tacos!!! The beef and pastor meat are both tender and flavorful. Also the cheese is nice and melt. The onions are nicely browned and the green sauce has a great kick to it! I've tried the Victoria plate and it was fantastic!! The chicken quesadillas were good as was the fajita taco. The rice is standard for Mexican restaurants and the charro beans had a good flavor but were not spicy. I'm guessing people in this area don't all like jalapeños in their beans. The green salsa is perfect! Just enough heat to add flavor without overpowering. I've also had the chicken salad and I had cilantro added and it was really good! My husband had the combination taco and enchilada plate and I tried an enchilada. Wow! Great flavor!! We will be coming back here from now on. It took 15 minutes to get my glass of tea. When it came had three ice cubes in it. The waitress was not attentive nor did she care about the plastic I found in my entree. I showed it to her, she took and said "sorry about that" then walked away leaving the contaminated food on the table. When I got up and spoke to a young lady at the counter, I explained the situation. She removed the food from the table, but never brought a replacement. I finally gave up, I went to pay the bill, and they still had the food on my bill. In addition one of the other orders from our table wasn't even the right plate. ($3 more) rather than taking care of the customer, the cashier chose to argue with me. We will NEVER eat here again. TERRIBLE customer service! Terrible experience! We stopped at this Mexican restaurant on our way back to San Antonio. I had the steak plate. It was tender and cooked to perfection. It came with ranchero beans, rice, salad, and scallions. Quite a large filling plate. My husband had steak fajitas, which he also enjoyed. We will definitely stop again on our next trip. read more

When I got the order there were no chips so I asked again and the waitress wanted to charge me around 3.50 for some chips and salsa. I said that if Had eaten in the restaurant I would have had chips and salsa for free at my table so what was the difference. Then she just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't make the prices" and that was her basic response. I know where I live in the Lake Jackson/Freeport, Tx area places like La Casona ans El Toro give you free chips and salsa whether you order in or to go. What's the difference? A customer is a customer! Either way the food was not as great as some people say here. I have had better and I have had worse but to be a truly Mexican or Tex Mex place and say you have fantastic food and great service and not give free chips and salsa when you order two plates to go is just plain stupid!
