Carnitas plate and mojarra frita! rice and beans were amazing!!!!!

I first went with my coworker and we loved it!! I ordered the carnitas plate and she ordered the chile colorado. I returned and brought my boyfriend as he was craving a mojarra frita. Both times we went we had a great server who was also the cashier. Great customer service both times! I love the restaurant environment and will definitely be going back! We drive from Burbank to Baldwin park just to eat here!

SENIORS BEWARE!! ¡CUIDADO GENTE DE LA TERCERA EDAD! (Traducción después de versión en inglés) The only reason I'm leaving one star is because it's the only way to leave a post. I AM LIVID OVER HOW MY SENIOR MOM WAS LAUGHED AT AND TRIED TO BE MADE OUT AS AN IDIOT!!! My senior parents went in at 11 am on Saturday, Feb 10,2024. Ordered breakfast, and the pancakes mom ordered were burnt. She returned them to the waitress, and the waitress brought them back with powdered sugar. The cook attempted to just cover up the burnt pancakes. She returned them again, now the waitresses and cook are laughing. Takes them back, and they give her pancakes, again burnt. This time just flipped over, so she couldn't see that they were burnt. She is telling them she doesn't want burnt food, and they laughed at her. I attempted to look for an owner address, and there's nothing. I'm furious that my mom was embarrassed and still paid the $36 bill. These people should be ashamed of themselves, what if it would have been their parents. I'm sure they would have expected some respect, especially when paying for a service. It isn't like Casa Jimenez was giving the food for free!

We dined at Casa Jimenez after not visiting for such a long time. I'm happy to report that the quality still remains the same. I ordered my favorite dish, the Chicken Enchilada Lunch special, which they serve all day long. It comes with one enchilada, rice and beans. For $5.95, you can't go wrong. It comes piping hot, the rice is fluffy and flavorful, as well as the beans. The enchilada is chock full of shredded chicken (seems like more than I remember from before). I would have loved to have more of the tasty sauce on the inside of the enchilada, rather than just being on the top. I'm not a big eater, so it was plenty for me for dinner. I enjoyed it! They also serve complementary chips and salsa, two kinds... a hot red sauce, as well the salsa with chopped tomatoes. Ambience is nice and cozy inside with comfortable booths. Service was good too, and there is a parking lot behind the restaurant.

Camarones con Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo

We decided to have a quick snack and beers here while waiting for our laundry. The snack is actually my dinner. It's a cute mom and pops with no frills, Mexican plaza painting on the wall for cultural reference. Ordered the camarones con mojo de ajo, which are medium sized shrimp sliced in half, soaking in garlic and butter sauce. The amount of garlic is a pleasure. The dinner combo comes with beans and rice, which is a tenderly flavorfully cooked frijole soft bean, with a cheese that is really good quality and stretches. There is a chips and salsa like most places, but theirs is a container with pico de Gallo and also a hot sauce (with a very unique flavor) in another container to cater to all kinds of people. I place both on my chips, and after about 15 pieces, I like to feel the fire. The dinner combo with shrimp was $15, but worth it. Flavor is incredible. Beers are a little pricey at $3.96 to $7.95, but it's ok. They are very generous with the lines when you order corona.

People always ask me what my favorite Mexican restaurant is, and honestly that's hard to answer because the best spots usually aren't trendy. They're not the places with neon signs, fake plants hanging from the ceiling, $22 margaritas, or mirrors designed so people can take Instagram selfies pretending they're in Tulum. Real Mexican food -- especially great regional Mexican food -- is usually found in little hole-in-the-wall spots next to a laundromat, a dry cleaner, or a hair salon where the rent is cheap and the recipes are real. That's exactly what Mi Lindo Oaxaca feels like. It's a small, family-style restaurant with very friendly people and a warm atmosphere. You can see the women back in the kitchen working hard, and somehow you already know the food is going to hit before you even take a bite. Maybe it's because every great Mexican restaurant has tias in the kitchen running the show. Big arms, aprons, moving fast, no wasted motion -- that's usually a good sign. I called ahead to place my order and they were super friendly from the start. When I got there I waited just a few minutes and started looking around. I noticed a small refrigerator filled with homemade desserts and pastries, and one thing that caught my eye was this little bag of bread that looked almost like mini conchas -- but not quite. I asked what they were and the woman explained they were called "Yemas" (egg yolk bread) and that they're shipped directly from Oaxaca. I bought some and honestly they were incredible with coffee the next morning. Soft, slightly rich, subtly sweet -- one of those simple things that reminds you how deep Mexican baking culture actually is outside of the usual stuff people know. Overall: great food, fair prices, genuinely kind people, and the kind of place that makes you want to find another excuse to drive back to La Puente just so you can try more of the menu. This is real Mexican food culture. No gimmicks. No influencer bait. Just quality food made by people who care.
