Every waitress was attentive, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. They truly work as a team, which made the atmosphere feel welcoming and comfortable. My agua de jamaica was so refreshing--perfect with the meal! And the Oaxaca cheese... wow. So fresh and flavorful, definitely on another level. We'll absolutely be coming back!

People always ask me what my favorite Mexican restaurant is, and honestly that's hard to answer because the best spots usually aren't trendy. They're not the places with neon signs, fake plants hanging from the ceiling, $22 margaritas, or mirrors designed so people can take Instagram selfies pretending they're in Tulum. Real Mexican food -- especially great regional Mexican food -- is usually found in little hole-in-the-wall spots next to a laundromat, a dry cleaner, or a hair salon where the rent is cheap and the recipes are real. That's exactly what Mi Lindo Oaxaca feels like. It's a small, family-style restaurant with very friendly people and a warm atmosphere. You can see the women back in the kitchen working hard, and somehow you already know the food is going to hit before you even take a bite. Maybe it's because every great Mexican restaurant has tias in the kitchen running the show. Big arms, aprons, moving fast, no wasted motion -- that's usually a good sign. I called ahead to place my order and they were super friendly from the start. When I got there I waited just a few minutes and started looking around. I noticed a small refrigerator filled with homemade desserts and pastries, and one thing that caught my eye was this little bag of bread that looked almost like mini conchas -- but not quite. I asked what they were and the woman explained they were called "Yemas" (egg yolk bread) and that they're shipped directly from Oaxaca. I bought some and honestly they were incredible with coffee the next morning. Soft, slightly rich, subtly sweet -- one of those simple things that reminds you how deep Mexican baking culture actually is outside of the usual stuff people know. Overall: great food, fair prices, genuinely kind people, and the kind of place that makes you want to find another excuse to drive back to La Puente just so you can try more of the menu. This is real Mexican food culture. No gimmicks. No influencer bait. Just quality food made by people who care.

I enjoyed my meal. Also, had lunch for the next day. Service was amazing, it was a busy night and they had plenty of servers. Drinks were never left empty and all employees were very content on helping all of us. In the way of ambience, this place has lots of seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait, depending on the time of day but well worth it. While we were there, they had several birthdays celebrated. With a little song and a little dessert.

Expect to wait cause this place is pretty popular in Covina. We waited around 35 mins which is fair being the weekend & brunch hour! They had the food buffet going on so my brothers got that (they didn't have many dessert options), my mom got the cocido soup which she enjoyed! I got the albondigas (meatballs were ground chicken) I actually liked my every much being a different kinda than what I am use too. Even warmed it up the next day for lunch at work! Still so yummy! My grandma got the cheese enchiladas which she loved. They also sang happy birthday & had the whole restaurant singing haha so that was cute & enjoyable. Recommend this spot if you're looking for delicious Mexican food!
