I had a very positive experience with CasaKids. We bought a Cabina bunk bed. I love the modern, clean design of the bed; as well as the craftsmanship. I felt that the bed would be very safe for my kids, and would grow with my kids, converting into two twin beds easily. Now that we have it installed in the room, it looks great and functions extremely well. My kids love it. This is definitely an investment piece for us, and we fully expect it to last for years. Also, I had a great customer service experience with Francis, who showed me all of the models I might be interested in, explained the pros and cons of each model, was very responsive to my questions, and arranged for delivery (I had my own moving service pick up). Everything went very smoothly. I also had a chance to meet Gil, the designer and owner of CasaKids, who keeps models of all of his previous work in the showroom. Gil takes obvious pride in the quality of his work and the connection he makes with the families who live with his pieces. What a great local business! read more

We ordered a Cabin (bunk) bed with a ladder and the Piano desk model for our kids room. Casa Kids came to our apartment to measure where the furniture would fit. It took a couple of months to get the furniture delivered. But we knew that upfront. installation by Casa kids was done in hour (within the time of day they scheduled) and the installers cleaned up all the packaging. Bed and desk are solid. Bunk bed can be taken apart and made into two stand-alone ones as the kids get older. Our kids love them. read more

Long overdue review for a Cabina Bunk Bed. Have nothing but good things to say about this bed. Communication from purchase through shipping (everything is smartly packaged so there was no shipping damage) and follow up was excellent. The bed is very well made, incredibly easy to put together since all the hardware is interchangeable (still takes a couple hours but that's to be expected), and the footprint is smaller than the single bed we replaced. One of the main reasons I picked this bed is that it is rated to hold 400 pounds which means either my wife or I can read books on the top bunk with our daughter (seems like most bunk beds out there only support around 200 pounds which adds up fast if you start with a 50 pound mattress) and even at 6'2" I can comfortably sit and read on the bottom bunk with my son which was a welcome surprise. This bed is probably one of my favorite pieces of furniture in our house and I have not a single regret about the purchase. read more

Roberto Gil, the owner of casakids, is one of the hardest people to deal with. After his interior designer told me in an email that she the cost of a loft bed when she was aware of exactly what I required, and then confirmed this with Roberto in writing (I kept the emails) I paid her $450 for a consultation. Was I surprised when the estimate came in at about $2000 over the original estimate! Then, when I confronted them about it, shop drawings were necessary at a cost of $500. I called and told just to send me an estimate for the bed, which promised to me by a certain day. When I called three days after I had still not received it, I was told that they were still deciding whether they were going to take me on as a client. Thank golly I put the consultation fee on my Amex card. In my opinion, this furniture is nice but very overpriced, and not worth the hassle. read more

Right before moving to NYC, I had stalked this company on Pinterest super impressed with not only the design aesthetic but for their efficient work within the realistic space constraints of NY. I met Gilberto himself during a sample sale and found him to be a pleasant and talented individual. The factory in red hook was cool as well as you got to see this custom made furniture being made. We have a crib from Casa Kids and a small child's chair. I have to say that not only are they beautiful, they are sturdy!!! I have often found myself crawling into the crib to help my child fall asleep and I do not worry about it being able to handle all of the weight. I can also say that my child is almost 3 years old and still can't climb out of the crib. Very well made and very strong furniture. Our crib has made it through two kids and has plenty of life left in it. This is a legacy piece built to last. I can also say that I use the child's chair as an adult stool sometimes. It is very strong and steady. I don't worry about it falling over. My kids have always enjoyed putting things in the little drawer. read more

Yesterday, Casa Kids installed a bunk bed/crib combo, desk/bookshelf combo and changing table in our kids' room and wow, are we happy with the result! Roberto and his staff were incredibly professional and nice to work with, and they came up with a fantastic and flexible plan to maximize the space in our kids' shared bedroom - no small feat considering the five-year age gap between them! We now have more storage than we can use, giving us plenty of space to grow into as the kids get bigger. The furniture is sturdy and safe, and looks fantastic. Most importantly, the kids love it. I am more than a fan, but I think the 5 star rating would get tossed as over done but they deserve that as well. Bought a bunk bed (Marino Bunk Bed) from Casa Kids during a seasonal sale and even though they were busy with floor sample sale were quite able to deal with the crowd of people each looking for their own special deal. Roberto and his staff each were very helpful including during final pickup. We ended up with getting a made to order bed and it was on time and were available for additional questions after the purchase was made as well. I'm not sure why some of the negative reviews in here as for the crib review I am in that business and buying a factory made crib is a tough one to get at $800 in fact the quality beats Oeuf and is made right here in NYC, beating those prices and made to order its a deal well worth it. read more

I admired their beds for a couple of years before I purchased. I kept coming back to they're beautiful beds and fantastic on their efficient use of space. The experience itself of buying was a good one. They gave design ideas - very important for us given the unusual shape and size of the room. I liked that they know NYC spaces. They welcomed my daughters learning about the process. And they were very accommodating when we had to delay delivery. The only down side was it took some time for this or that to happen but it was fine. They're a small business with big plans, they take care in their craft, and they always responded to my repeated questions. My daughters love their beds. They look good. And you know - I appreciate how efficient they are in the use of space while being sooo sturdy. Really. read more

***BEWARE! AVOID PATRONIZING THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS! IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY!*** I contacted CasaKids to order not ONE, but TWO cribs; one of which I wanted modified into a mini crib. It took several days to receive a quote and I kind of had to chase them down to receive what I did get - they are not very responsive and really kind of elusive about important details of the process. Alas, I receive a ridiculous quote charging me $800 for a mini crib, $300 for a custom fee, and $600 for delivery!!!!! I understand custom furniture and I get that costs can rise when designing unique pieces; but it is not as though they were designing some brand new crib directly to my specifications - they were only taking a crib they already make, and making it smaller! I.e., punching in some numbers into a machine for a machine to produce at a smaller size. The other mini cribs on the market sell between $250-350 so to pay $1100 for a "custom mini crib" is absolutely ridiculous. Note also that the materials used to produce these pricey pieces is PLYWOOD, not solid wood, but PLYWOOD! Then the $600 white glove delivery fee? Come on! I didn't ask for that and that cost is absolutely unnecessary. When I raised questions about the quote I was told that it would be discussed with Roberto if there was any way to reduce costs - Ms. Luna agreed that the $600 delivery fee was outrageous and that a standard shipping carrier could be used. BUT I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HER! AND THAT WAS OVER A WEEK AGO! Not to worry though, because I have since ordered a crib and bassinet from a REPUTABLE company and my crib is SOLID WOOD! So disaster avoided!! ***PLEASE NOTE ALSO THAT MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE REVIEWS "NOT CURRENTLY RECOMMENDED" WERE WRITTEN BY CASAKIDS' OWNER ROBERTO GIL AND/OR HIS STAFF IN RESPONSE TO THE OTHER VERY POOR REVIEW THEY RECEIVED HERE, AND THEY WERE ALL WRITTEN ON THE SAME DAY OR IN CLOSE PROXIMITY! I wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful experience we had working with CasaKids and how happy our whole family is with the result. CasaKids places a high emphasis on safety and versatility -- the pieces we have purchased should last our kids many years and can even be moved or modified as they grow. We visited the showroom first to meet with Roberto and check out the quality of the furniture. We only had rough measurements for the room, but Roberto immediately had ideas and started sketching a potential plan. We then booked an on-site visit and had a more in-depth conversation about what we wanted from the room, where things should be placed, adding storage, etc. We received beautifully detailed plans that let us see and almost feel exactly how the room would look when done. Francis especially was always available to answer questions and make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Installation was efficient and professional and completed on the earlier side of the estimated 10-12 week timeframe. We are so happy with the final result -- the furniture looks great and has added so much storage to our children's bedroom. We can not say enough good things about Roberto Gil and CasaKids. We recently had them design and install custom furniture for our girls playroom and bedroom and they are now the best rooms in the whole apartment! We found Roberto and the team to be a pleasure to work with and extremely responsive to our needs along the way. The design consultation allowed us to really get a good picture of how the rooms would turn out, including fantastic elevations showing the finished product. They took time to hang with the kids and talk to them about what was important for them too which we loved because they thought of things we hadn't! Roberto of course also had fantastic suggestions for design that we would not have thought of but were really great additions to the space. When we wanted to make amendments to the design the responses were quick and simple even when at times we were having to make amendments based on work contractors were doing in the apartment. The installation of the finished pieces was done with a precision we haven't experienced before and everything ran on time. Even when we determined the floor was slightly uneven in places, the team were quick to make amendments to fix and level everything. The finished product is just gorgeous, the quality is really first class and the kids were, and still are over the moon about it. I am not kidding when I say they are the best rooms in the apartment. The team at CasaKids also helped us finish off the room with great decor suggestions at our request as well. The estimate we were sent originally when we had finished the design process is exactly what we ended up spending and we had no surprises or delays along the way.
