If you are a history buff and like to see architecture and interior choices of the rich I would recommend this place. At most looking at everything takes about 2 hours. The rooms are cool and the info displayed for each zone is riveting. The best moment I had was being downstairs where the stables were and seeing Lady Pellatt's wedding dress. I talked with the museum attendant who shared an interest in sewing and we discussed clothing choices of the time. The only complaint is with the bathrooms. I got there when it opened and used the bathroom early on. I must know, why was there fecal particles on the toilet seat already? So my only critique is that the public bathrooms need to be cleaned better. read more

Took this tour as part of CityPass and I truly would have missed it if not for the pass. The audio tours were really elaborate and covered each room and hallway in detail. There are some highlight spots as well that are covered in separate audios. They contain spots where several movies or TV shows were filmed. There is also a 20 min movie about Sir Henry Pellatt, not to be missed. It took over 3 hours for me to cover the entire castle. There is a cafetaria next to the theatre and also an outdoor restaurant during the day. You can also enjoy a stroll in the garden if you want to escape the crowds. read more

Casa Loma is one of the great giant residences open to the public that harken back to a different time. As a lifelong architecture and history buff (remember America's Castles on A&E circa mid- nineties? That was my jam!) , I really appreciate having the opportunity to tour such a grand estate and take in the excellent craftsmanship and vision. Upon walking up to Casa Loma, you see its impressive stature set upon a hill. From here you have one of the best views in Toronto that overlooks onto its vast expanse of gardens and water features. The entrance fee was $40 per adult, which was totally worth it considering how much there is to see here. We wound up taking about 3 hours to tour the grounds and we didn't even get around to the tower since they were closing. I like to read as many of the plaques and take in all the details, so your time may vary, but I would recommend giving yourself plenty of time. In addition to all the plaques giving history of the house, there is an entire third level dedicated as a museum to The Queens Own Rifles of Canada- which for Military History buffs, is a real treat. In addition to the main house, we spent a lot of time exploring the 800 foot underground tunnel and the stables/ garage. In addition to touring the house, I learned so much about the original owner, Sir Henry Pellatt. Okay, this guy was something else- at one point he was responsible for 1/4 of the entire Canadian GDP, then he lost it all! Want to know more? This stop on the Big Bus Tour felt like stepping into a storybook. We bought tickets to go inside and wandered through what felt like endless rooms, hallways, and towers. Getting to the top tower was a mission, hot day, tight spiral staircases, but so worth it once you're up there. The bedrooms, the garden room, the military exhibits... all of it was fascinating and beautifully maintained. And the little gelato truck outside? Such a sweet way to end the visit. read more

First time coming back to visit since visiting during a school field trip over 10 years ago It was really cool to see what seems to remained and what is added. There are group tours but it is possible to do a self tour. They have a lot of signage and app/site for an audio tour. Also, I suggest to visiting the Scottish Tower over the Norman Tower. The place is a thrill because of all the discoveries we stumbled upon wandering around the huge place. In addition to learning about history, make sure to pick up the map to make sure you visit all the areas that many have missed. My favorite is the long underground tunnel that leads to the stables, garage, and the random celebrity wax museum. Our family went during the holiday season and they decorated everything very well, including the tunnel for great pictures. For anyone that enjoys scenic pictures mixed with beautiful historic interiors, you will find yourselves enjoying a few hours of fun. read more

I first visited Casa Loma on an elementary school trip eons ago. My classmates and I got into an orange school bus and magically arrived at a castle smack in a major city. I have little recollection on what we actually did here. I just know that I enjoyed being away from the classroom. Recently, I returned for the Legends of Horror two-kilometre experience. It wasn't scary, but I did appreciate the actors creeping many folks out. What I didn't like were extremely dark areas with no lighting, uneven dirt terrain, and no handrails by stairs for the first half of this trek. The bar broke up the craziness. My rum and coke hit the spot. The second-half was better with handrails, but it was still dark and a hazard. There were moments towards the end of this tour that I liked. When you are at the top of the castle, you get a beautiful, picturesque view of the Toronto skyline. I didn't appreciate it as a kid, but I did last month. This castle is gorgeous at night when it is lit up with coloured lights. This castle is well over a century old and it looks stunning. I paid for visitor parking for $20. It was weird speaking to the parking attendant who thought that I was here for a fancy ballroom party when I was dressed in a t-shirt and joggers. I did barge into the ballroom part of the castle. It looked gorgeous. The female staffer there directed me to where I needed to be for the Legends of Horror, so I was pleased. I'd love to drop by when it's closer to Christmas for Christmas at the Castle. I'd imagine that the trees and the castle look stunning. The BlueBlood Steakhouse is a restaurant that's a part of Casa Loma. It looks fancy. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to dine there unless I end up being a millionaire, and want steak and wine all the time... haha Casa Loma has two exhibits: - Girl Guide - Vintage car I feel the need to do a tour. I don't recall taking in these exhibits, let alone all the rooms and floors that this landmark has. It's cool having a castle in Toronto. The castle is stunning. And the gardens are beautiful and well-maintained. You can visit the museum on daily basis, 9:30am - 5pm. Or you can dine in at Blue Blood steakhouse or in the Gardens. You can also reserve the gardens for weddings and social events. There's a limited number of paid parking spaces available on the premises. We came here for "Symphony in the Gardens", Rock Night and enjoyed the music, view and the vibe. With a few spare hours the next morning, we decided to get one more stop in on our City Pass and go for a visit to Casa Loma. At ine time, this was the largest private home in Canada, then left to rott, it's been restored to its former glory and is now open for yours. You may recognize the house from many movies as well, as it's often used for filming. Most notably, I recognized it from the X-men Movies, but it has also been used in movies featuring Vin Diesel, Jackie Chan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Samuel L Jackson and so many others. The house itself is downright impressive, both in scale and detail, especially considering how long ago it was built. The house is filled with period furniture as well as items belonging to the original owner. The tour is self guided, with audio info you can listen to as you scroll the many room. They even had an actor roaming the house in character of the original builder, Sir Henry Pellatt. You learn a lot about the house on the tour, the owners life and also about the city of Toronto. This was a great experience and being included in the city pass, it made it all the better. We had a great time, and would recommend it read more

So, Casa Loma is a Gothic Revival castle built by some ungodly rich financier around the time of WWI. Tickets for the general self-guided tour are on the pricier side, and charging additionally for a parking lot that doesn't actually have the capacity for the number of tickets sold is not the best policy, but, once inside, we found the experience really enjoyable. The furnishings, the artifacts from Canadian military history, the tower climb, the tunnel underneath, the film history (e.g. interior shots from the first X-Men movie), and the views from the outdoor garden are all really impressive (there's a nice sightline to Downtown in particular). We liked the holiday decorations and the live Christmas music was a nice touch. Is it full of tourist kitsch and are the restaurants probably ungodly overpriced? I'm sure they are. During our last visit to Toronto, we went to Casa Loma. A beautiful castle perched atop a hill overlooking downtown. Taking public transportation to get here it's easy. Just take the subway to the Dupont station, and walk about 7 minutes to the main entrance. The grounds were well manicured and the fountains surrounded by beautiful flowers and gardens. We dined in the restaurant and the experience was very good. A great deal to get the Toronto City Pass if you have time to hit 3 of the major tourist attractions, which Casa Loma is one of them. read more

I love history and Casa Loma and headed there on Tuesday to enjoy their festive celebration. There's lots to do. I started by touring the castle and the towers. Despite the rain, it was fun to be outside and check out the Norman Tower (along with the Scottish Tower). I felt like a kid again climbing the stairs and exploring! The highlight for me was going though the tunnel to the stables. I had a nice chat with Twinkle Toes, the elf! The singing reindeer are amazing! Just had my first visit here for the Christmas themed / lights display. We did arrive later than expected unfortunately so didn't get to see all of the inside but what we did see was wonderful! Outside it was bitter-cold, but it was worth the wait to see all of the lights and characters! Great detail went into this and our group of 14 had a "jolly" time! Expect to hear music, see beautiful lights, an animatronic grinch, cast and characters galore, Mrs, Claus, Santa, etc...! At the "end" you can buy a picture with Santa for I believe $20 Canadian. I think I saw warm drinks for sale too. You can buy tickets ahead of time or at the entrance. Dress warm and have a wonderful time! This is definitely for all ages: Our group was all adults and had a blast! read more

We made the mistake of attending the April 5,2026 Easter Buffet. Huge mistake. Signage/Greeting Guests It was difficult to determine in the dark hallway which kiosk was for tour guests and which was for Easter Brunch Guests. A sign to the left indicating will help with guest groups bottlenecking this small space. A sign in the foyer directing Easter guests to the sign in desk would be helpful and improve guest experience. Many guests were milling around, unsure of what the rope line was for. There wasn't anybody to greet the guests or to explain what the rope line was for. I had to track down a staff member to find out more info. Individual Service at the table Service was lackluster. We ordered water, coffee and a mocktail. It was delivered, but I had to chase down a bus boy for water refill, and he only refilled two guests' water but wandered off and ignored the third guest. I had to track down my server for more coffee, and I had to bus my own used dishes. There needs to be intensive training for service staff. They also weren't particularly friendly/welcoming/aware of any service standards. Buffet Quality, Presentation and Service When we arrived, many of the platters and bowls were empty.I had to ask some staff to bring crackers ( 2 kinds of crackers including RICE crackers? for Gogonzola? Who did the cracker selection?)for the cheese, tongs for multiple trays, and spoons for salad dishes. Some staff brought new trays/bowls. but neglected to bring utensils for service. I then had to wait for utensils before I could serve myself. It took seven minutes for me to fill my first plate because I was waiting for the cold items to arrive with the relevant utensils. I gave up on the possibility of shrimp and walked back to my table. I also didn't enjoy trying to hack at the smoked trout with improper utensils. Do you not have a single expediter on staff to patrol the buffet and radio back to the kitchen on what is needed? This is standard practice at buffets. I observed many irate guests at this point. There were FOUR heated chafing dishes- pretty measly for an alleged 800 guests. One had pancakes, the other had french toast. The other two chafing dishes were one filled 1/3 with fish and other with the potatoes and ham. When I walked over to this area, there was perhaps 6 oz of prime rib left on the carving board. I felt badly for any vegetarians or vegans. There was one potato option and it was covered in ham. How is that helpful for them? As well, the constant cross contamination of the cheese and meat boards were a problem for vegetarians. There were NO cakes, no pies, nothing to indicate anyone really cared about dessert. Some small pastries in limited quantities and variety ( the lemon tart had a good crust but needed a lot more lemon juice for flavour in the filling) was the offering.Whoever made the chocolate shortbread butter tarts didn't use brown sugar and you could tell by the lack of depth of taste. Pretty pitiful. Do you have a pastry chef on staff? There was little evidence of that. My husband speculated you didn't have one at all and that these pastries were purchased from off site. He didn't enjoy them at all. I do want to highlight some bright spots on the menu and give credit to whomever it is due. The tomato and bocconcini salad was well balanced in flavours, the butternut squash ravioli was perfectly textured and cooked and the sauce was amazing. The prime rib was cooked and seasoned well, and had excellent flavour. The chef was impolite and unhelpful, and extremely unwilling to take any accountability for what I was relating to him as were some of the other staff. I know eye rolling and under the breath talking when I see it on the part of the two omelette makers ( one white male, one Asian female) and the carver( one black man) When I returned to the conservatory after speaking with the chef and other staff, other diners approached me and THANKED me for standing up for them.They too were embarrassed they had picked Castle Loma for their big Easter dinner with their family. That was the word they used- embarrassed to have made that choice. I was also quite concerned about the egress available at the point where the restrooms are and where food and staff come out. I was nearly run over by staff who didn't say "excuse me" or anything as they came racing out holding hot food. That's an accident ( WSIB or guest lawsuit) waiting to happen. As well, in a fire, that could be a problem. The other brunch options that were in consideration before I made my mistake and booked with Castle Loma- Old Mill, The Guild, King Edward, two Peter and Paul places in the west end, Ritz Carlton, and the St Regis. I clearly picked the wrong venue- it won't happen again. I also want to point out that I DROVE from OSHAWA to come to this venue. read more

The castle itself was okay. It had a lot of information about who used to live there and how people back then lived. It wasn't super fascinating. In all my years of coming to Toronto I've never been to Casa Loma. It always gets pushed to the last day or after a big night out and we never make it. So I deliberately chose to do this on our first day. It's a bit out there so we took an uber which was the right decision. The building is absolutely gorgeous. I kept marvelling at the architecture our entire visit. We were there about 2 1/2 hours but easily could have stretched that to four. There's exhibit after exhibit of everything from the house/living in Elizabethan era Canada to the Girl Guides of Canada, the Queen's Own Regiment to even films that were shot there. Side note: justice for the movie Ready or Not which features Casa Loma prominently and is not mentioned. They have a cafe on the terrace where we enjoyed a glass of wine about halfway through our visit. There's a lot of walking and stairs so the pit stop was nice. The only downside is the price is incredibly steep. Here's a tip - buy in person. It was $7 cheaper buying at the door than online. read more

Came for their seasonal Christmas lights called "Christmas at the Castle" and was blown away with all the beautiful decor and experience! The entrance was not at the castle, but rather on the side where there are a lot of trees, so you get to experience the outdoors first before exploring the rest of the castle. The walkway was filled with beautiful lighting and music. Once you get up to the castle area you enter their outdoor gazebo where they have different themed rooms that are decorated for pictures. You then move your way outdoors where there was a magician and firedancer that really added to the experience. Staff were around to let you know which way to go and when the performances were starting. I went on a weeknight early in December so there weren't a lot of people around which was nice. We felt l like we had the entire place to ourselves. After exploring the outdoors you make your way into the castle which was again decked out in lights and decor. I got to walk underground at the castle and had no idea I would end up across the street at a different castle - super cool experience! Nearing the end we were greeted with Mrs. Claus and there was a colouring area that you could spend some time at. The grand finale of the self guided tour/ light show was Santa's workshop and of course Santa himself! The elves working there were super enthusiastic and kept to their character the entire time. Overall the entire experience was so beautiful and magical! Highly recommend to go if you have time before the holidays! This was easily one of the biggest highlights of my trip. I would recommend coming here as one of the very first things you do in Toronto. Cost is about $40 after tax for an adult. I bought mine in person. I went last month when they had the imagine dragons as a special exhibit. I was a solo traveler and did a self guided tour. It took me about 2.5 hrs to go through everything, I took pictures and videos as well as read through some information. After you purchase your tickets, you can choose to have an audio guide if you want to know more. You would start on the main floor, then work your way up. You can either take the secret walkway up or the main staircase. Don't forget there is one area that you can get out to the rooftop and a tower that you can peek out. On the very bottom, you will find food, souvenirs, and a dark tunnel. The dark tunnel led me to the imagine dragons exhibit, backstage celebrity gallery (kind of like Madame Tussaud's wax museum but not as interactive), and antique car display. They also had performances around the main floor. I recommend either driving here or taking an Uber. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. The general admission price is worth it if you take your time and don't rush through everything. read more

This is hands down THE BEST haunted house in the city! From giant animatronics, to live actors, laser light shows and set decor. They really spared no expenses when creating this attraction. Everything is just TOP notch. This was my favourite Yelp event by far! I came here with my husband two years ago (just out of covid) and the attractions were a lot more sparse. I'm glad to see now they have added so many new things for guests to look at and experience. If you're looking for the perfect Halloween experience, this is it! Super cool place to visit. The castle is huge so you could spend a few hours inside if you want to see every nook and cranny. Definitely use the map if you want to maximize your time. Once you get to the 3rd and 4th floor, it's pretty much just bed rooms and balconies. But the gardens, towers, and tunnels were really neat. The tunnel is super cool, by the time you walk the length and end up in the stables, you're across the street! We were surprised when we hit sunlight and notice where the castle was. Also, we visited around Halloween, so the tunnel decorations were up. Those were awesome too and I'm sure the Halloween event is epic. read more

Casa Loma is the worst place to book a private event. They emailed me a per person price and then made me take time to do a site visit only to increase the per person fee a few weeks before my event causing me to find a new venue. They don't allow anything you want to do that is a special request and will make it difficult for you to book an event there as they prioritize profit over customers. Don't even consider booking your wedding, birthday or private event here as they really have the worst customer service possible. The owner is horrible. read more

The last time I was here was for High Tea at the Castle. It's only offered on special occasions like Family Day weekend in February. It includes a selection of teas, small sandwiches, pastries and scones. The room it was held in was opulent with white tablecloths, beautiful woodwork and chandeliers. Most guests were well dressed. There was live music from an elegantly dressed harpist and a pianist playing a baby grand piano. The price includes admission to the castle which you can tour before or after high tea. Antique cars and rooms with furnishings from the period the castle was built are worth viewing. Don't miss the small theatre with a short film about the castle which has been the setting for some movies. I was able to see the Toronto skyline including the CN Tower from a window. There is onsite paid parking which fills up during special events. read more

Casa Loma is such a beautiful castle, and we truly enjoyed the architecture and furnishings. The tour took us around 2.5 hours. There are LOTS of stairs to navigate, and we definitely don't recommend going during the hottest summer months as the castle gets very hot inside. Unfortunately, the heat made our visit less thrilling. There is a super long tunnel that takes you to the stables and antique cars. There was a lot of time spent walking through those tunnels and stairs just to see 2 cars and the smaller stable area. That may not be for everyone. Overall, if you're visiting Toronto, Casa Loma is a must-see, perhaps just not in mid summer. read more

This review is for the castle your only. One of the best castles I have visited (including numerous castles in Europe). Minus one star for the parking charges (15CAD). There is no reason to leave the car here if you aren't here to visit the castle - it seems excessive, given the admission itself is already 40CAD. Perhaps validate the ticket for 2 hrs and charge people that linger too long. The castle itself was impressive. Most of the rooms were available with a nice audio guide. It is a self-guided tour with the last admission time at 4:30pm. It takes roughly 1.5 hrs to go through it, so please plan accordingly. The garden and the towers were closed during our visit. But we still got to see and learn a lot. Don't miss out on the tunnel and the celebrity walk. read more

Casa Loma is a must see in Toronto. It was in my top 3 favorite visits while visiting on vacation and absolutely recommend checking it out. We stayed downtown and took an Uber/Lyft there and then the subway back to the hotel. When visiting the castle, I would allow at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the visit and possibly a little more if you are gonna grab a bite. Make sure to check out the short history film in the theatre (unfinished pool) located in the lower level. We started off here and picked up our audio handsets for the self guided tours. I would strongly recommend the handset and film as it adds so much to the overall experience. Handsets are available in a few languages and are sanitized between use. We recommend making sure to walk outside on the garden terrace. Standing by the fountain and looking back it is a the breathtaking view of the castle and all its beauty. It is also a great view of the city. Additional Highlights for us: -Library -Great Hall -Sir Pellatt's & Lady Pellatt's Suites -The Tunnel to The Stables (a must see) -Boiler Room -Stables, Garage, Carriage Room, & Potting Shed We did go up in one of the towers but skipped the second due to the crowds and wait times. I didn't think we were gonna get out of There is the Liberty Cafe but only picked up some beverages for a break. The Princess Diana exhibit was going on as well and there are other experiences at the castle as well but for me the history, decor, and beauty of the castle and grounds is what made the visit special for me. There is a garden path that is kind of hidden to the right when walking out onto the terrace. This takes you down and around a path that was really neat to explore and check out as well. I would love the opportunity to go back and explore the castle as there is just so much to see. I did want to mention that audio self guided tour as it added so much to the visit.
