Spicy Shrimp and you get tasty bread too.

I am so happy I went to eat at casa Minhota. The service was excellent my server was Jose and he was friendly and helpful. I had the soup of the day it was delicious and I ordered the spicy shrimp and don't worry it's not really that spicy but it's tasty. The ambience for dinner it's formal casual I saw people celebrating birthdays. Over all a very positive happy experience.

Nice place on St Laurent blvd. They have a private parking in the back which is great for this neighbourhood. We were seated in the back where they have a private room. Plenty of staff with quick service. Some of the plates had small portions while others were generous. The octopus appetizer was pricey and small. It was more of an octopus salad with finely chopped veggies in a vinaigrette. It was a hot cold dish. My main was the "spicy " shrimp. Not spicy and small. The chicken plates were more impressive. They have a full bar. The service was good, very attractive. The food was fine. The experience was ok

What a delightful experience! We were greeted with a big smile and escorted to our table. We had starters & main. We started with garlic shrimp and snails! Absolutely delicious. The flavors were so good. Surft & turf! I had to admit...this was the best lobster I've ever eaten! My taste buds were dancing the whole time lol The steak was spot on and full of flavor too. The fries on the other hand was not all that! I had a couple and stopped. Steak on the rock came with 3 different sauces! Each was amazing. The jumpo shrimp was cooked perfectly. We paid $231 plus tip.

We happened to walk by this place around 7 pm on a Saturday evening and decided to give it a try. Friendly and welcoming staff and delicious food with a wide selection - 4 stars for that. But it took FOREVER for our salads & entrees to arrive and staff very rarely made an effort refill our water glasses. They seemed very understaffed. I'd give Casa Minohta another chance only if it isn't crowded.

Find this place on yelp , the food was delicious the only complain I have there's no ac in the restaurant was so hot and very uncomfortable which make us eat quick just to leave . But I still recommend to try this place

This desert was amazing. Worth the trip all on its own

A quaint authentic Portuguese restaurant in the heart of Montreal. We hashed for a tasting menu with the addition of a steak served on a hot stone. The appetizers weren't amazing and lacked any inventive flair, but their spicy shrimp was actually quite good. For the mains, the steak was a great cut of meat, and by far the best part of this course. Finished off with a desert which was amazing... best part of night.

This is the first real Portugese restaurant that I've been too and wow, is it tasty. I loved the salty bread that came out with olives and oil as a starter. For dinner, I had the mussels as well as the jumbo shrimp. On top of that, the service was amazing. The portions were massive - I also find this place super cute with the old school decor and friendly vibes.

I have been here about 5 times. It was a friends birthday today and we thought it would be nice to host their birthday party here. We were about 40 people. There was a set menu. About 35$ for entrees, appetizers, main dish and desserts. We began the sit down with complimentary wines, both red and white. As for entrees, we had shrimps, calamari and chorizo. This was accompanied by either a fresh green salad or caldo verde soup (spinach soup). The main dishes were just to die for. Pork and clams for me and Bacalhau (Cod fish) for my wife. Although the main dishes took some time to make their way to us, it was well worth the wait. All were perfectly paired with their respective red and white wine selection. The dessert was the birthday girl's cake, however they have a nice selection of Portuguese pastries to choose from. I recommend the Pastel de nata, also known as Portuguese custard. All in all, this place is a must try for anyone wanting to try out authentic Portuguese food in Montreal, it is well worth the trip!

Very traditional and cozy. Amazing food. Excellent price. Specially for the Table d'hôte

We came to Montreal with the plan of tasting many Quebecois dishes, then we made a pit stop at Casa Minhota. Well, we got stucked there . Food is amazing, wine is good and service is... Portuguese. Next day we came down from Mont Royal (4 miles hike) and to our surprise we just showed up in front of Minhota, a beer honey? Yes sure! Well, we ended having dinner there. Thank you Juan Manuel!

Unfriendly service. We got festival paella, tea, chef's snails, and grilled quail. There were shards of shell in the seafood paella. They never filled our waters even once. They never checked on us so they never realized that the paella was supposed to come with a soup and salad and coffee for a total of 35 dollars. None of these items arrived. They still charged us the full price of 35 dollars and when we asked they simply comped the tea we ordered separately. Which was about 3.50. Not even an apology. Just don't come here. We went to The Main after. Much less formal, much better service and a lot friendlier. Cheaper too.

Sunday evening, steady stream of diners-service was excellent. The atmosphere and decor are very inviting. Expansive menu of Portuguese fare-mostly meat and seafood. Not much to choose from if you are a vegetarian. My husband had the sirloin steak-served with broccoli and fried potatoes. My daughter had grilled chicken with a salad and fried potatoes. Both enjoyed their selections-cooked perfectly. I had the Caldo Verde (green cabbage) soup and asked for it without the chorizo sausage. It was good. For my meal I had the house salad-perfect portion of greens, artichoke, cheese, onion, egg, cucumbers and tomatoes served with a delightful creamy vinaigrette dressing. No room for dessert, though!

    Handsome Portuguese tiles.

Nice atmosphere, but it's over an hour long wait for a very mediocre paella :( Other patrons weren't too impressed with their food either.

When I arrived, there was a short line, and as soon as I walked inside, the incredible aroma of rotisserie chicken filled the room. That's when I knew I was in for something special. I was told to order the wet hot chicken plate, so I did--and it absolutely did not disappoint. I also couldn't resist trying the famous chicken poutine. The flavors were bold, rich, and incredibly satisfying. The portions were enormous, too; there was easily enough food for several meals. Before leaving, I picked up a small homemade tres leches tart for dessert. It was the perfect ending to the meal. The cake was moist and delicious, and the caramelized burnt sugar on top added an amazing flavor and texture. I honestly wish Ma Poule Mouillée had a location in Detroit because this would become my monthly dinner spot without question. This place is the definition of "winner, winner, chicken dinner." If you're visiting Montreal, don't miss it--you'll leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit.

When we showed up and saw the line around the corner, we figured that it must be good. We waited in line for about 30-40 minutes, but it was a nice evening. (I assume that waiting in that line in the dead of winter would not be fun.) You can order to takeaway, but they have seating indoors. We opted to eat there because poutine is better fresh. I read that the petit was still quite large, so we opted to split the petit. We both agreed that was a smart decision. The poutine was good, but the flavor of the cheese curds was muted by the shredded chicken and choriço. Their signature dish is their Portuguese chicken, and so I'm curious how that tastes when it's not covered in poutine gravy and cheese curds.

They are passionate about their food and generous, and if you don't feel like paying up-the-arse for delicious Portuguese chicken Romados is the place for you. It's homey, they have spicy and mild Piri Piri sauce to choose from, the fries are tasty but not too salty, Chicken Salad is really delicious, and furthermore, they have family options, rice, potatoes, and you can order a half or quarter chicken, as well as other options like soup and barbecue pork (also very good). This place deserves a review and it deserves positive recognition. They are versatile in their offerings, and healthy but not overdoing it.
