The chicken is tender, it's better with the spicy sauce. The portion is huge and you can definitely share with two people. It's very popular but I found the overall flavor is okay, not a complete wow. But the dessert was great!

Their gravy is delicious. Chicken is falling off the bone, it's cooked so well. The portions are huge - my wife couldn't finish her "small" poutine, and I couldn't finish my portion of chicken legs with salad and fries. There is limited seating and no one seats you, so you have to watch for tables to free up and grab one while being in line for the food so having company helps!

    Small Poutine is HUGE

We visited this place because we just had to try poutine and heard it was fabulous here. That is true, and you'll be sure after 1st bite.. Great fries, with chorizo + bits of chicken, good amount of cheese curds and finally smothered w/gravy. I thought the gravy might be an afterthought/not interesting- but no, it was delicious. You walk in the door and all you smell is chicken grilling+ chargrilled goodness. They offer a1/2chicken w/salad+ fries. Since we were ordering the poutine we didn't want those extra sides; we just ordered whole chicken. They'll ask, spicy or not? We got 'spicy' -basically the orange sauce in pics. It's not at all 'spicy hot' -but tastes garlicky, rich and delicious. Great choice. Chicken is Portuguese style; with a chargrilled taste, very juicy and well seasoned. Talked to several people who were near us eating about how great the food was, and found out that like us, several of them were out of towners who'd asked a local "where to eat" in town. Every single person was raving about how delicious it all was. This place is the Bomb! Absolutely a 'Do Not miss' in Montreal. The small poutine we ordered was huge! And the large sized poutine others bought was size of a ham on the large plate. Even with 2 hungry people and my Hubbie is a big dude, we brought almost 1/2 of our food home to finish the next day. Not bad for $34+ tax. PS One pic is from neighboring table's plate- the guy said "Please do take a picture. What a find! I can't believe this place".

They have a tiny dining room. Their reputation brings many people coming. Locals and tourists line up around the block. Their chicken is delicious. Their poutine is huge. We ordered it loaded but I would order it without the chorizo. It's a little much.

Some of the best roasted chicken I have ever had. I would come just for the chicken, no poutine needed.

The BEST POUTINE & BBQ chicken i ever had! It was the best food we had from Montreal. I've been to La Banquise for poutine multiple times and LB's good but this chicken and chorizo poutine is superior! Perfect potato fries, bbq chicken, cheese curds and gravy! Dont forget to ask for their spicy sauce on top! (Not spicy at all, just gives extra umami!) This place also gets long queue but much less than LB and it moves pretty fast! Their service is fast and efficient. While u are waiting, u can see how they cook their chicken on the Portuguese grill. I want to try bbq chicken with their hot sauce next time when I visit Mtl again. PS. Get large!! And pastel de nata is just ordinary.

Number 8! Rotisserie chicken with Portuguese meats

Want a Thanksgiving feast? I would say order the number 8. We had Portuguese meat, rotisserie chicken all in gravy on top of fries. I would say it reminded me of a heavy Thanksgiving meal. It was good. Don't get me wrong. The line was a bit long outside but once you get in, you order, wait for you food, pay, and then find a table to eat. It's small inside but you can grab a seat if you're patient. They also have a spicy sauce you can add to your meal that was pretty good. It's definitely worth a try but I think there are so many different poutine places I would try around Montreal.

I found myself at Ma Poule Mouillée as part of a food tour I was on. We were not told in advance which places we were visiting, so it was a pleasant surprise to find out that this was on the route. While I didn't know too much about this spot, I was aware of its popularity and that they served good poutine; needless to say, I was looking forward to checking it out. Ma Poule Mouillée is a Portuguese restatuant that specializes in chicken and poutine. We were there late morning so it was not crowded, though I was told it's normal for a line for form around the block during peak times. Our tour guide also mentioned that this place, along with La Banquise which sits catty corner, are two of the most popular places for poutine in the city. We were here for poutine - specifically, we got the variety topped with chorizo and roasted chicken. It was delicious - the fries were crispy, and the combo for the chorizo and chicken with the gravy and cheese curds really made for an elevated poutine. We didn't have time for anything else, but what we had was enough to make an impression. Overall, Ma Poule Mouillée was a total yes - this was one of the best poutines I've had in a while and I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

I had so many recommendations to try this poutine in Montreal and it did not disappoint. The location is actually a Portuguese chicken restaurant but they do a poutine that has 2 full legs of chicken and sausage on top of your usual squeaky cheese curds, crispy fries and piping hot gravy. The portion was massive. We ordered the large poutine and it only cost $19.00. I think what makes this dish is the chicken, which is cooked to perfection with crispiest skin. The service was quick and you could see the chicken being roasted on the spits. The restaurant itself is set up as take out. You order and then find a spot to sit. Pretty spacious and lots of seating available. We went on a Monday morning (10am) during the winter so there was no line up. But I have heard that it can get very busy. We also got the eggs tarts which were delicious. Great recommendation.

Their grilled calamari and Portuguese chicken were AMAZING! The chicken still tasted delicious even when it was cold. They truly worked some magic with their sauce. I didn't try their famous poutine, and now I really regret it. I'll definitely be coming back when I get the chance!

A Portuguese restaurant that is serving up the best poutine I've ever had. It is piled HIGH with chorizo, chicken, gravy and curd. The flavors are so warm, it is the perfect thing for a chilly day. This poutine could easily serve 3 people so keep that in mind when ordering it. Try your best to save room for dessert so you can try their pastel de nata

I was probably the most excited to try this place during my trip, and it really didn't disappoint! We came on a Friday around lunch, and I was happy to see that there was no line. It's pretty small inside with only a handful of tables and high chairs. We got the small poutine to share, and man, this bowl was hefty! It was a perfect amount of food for two people. The chicken was so moist and flavorful. They definitely don't skimp on the gravy - every inch is drenched. The chorizo wasn't quite what I was expecting. It wasn't my favorite, but everything comes together so well that I didn't mind. I wish I had room to try the pasteis de nata, but I guess I'll just have to come back. This is such a unique take on poutine! It's a must-try for anyone visiting Montreal.

I was very surprised by this one. It is better than the guy across the street! The gravy has a more deep flavor and the service (petite) is enough for two people that aren't extremely hungry Yum! This is the place in Montreal for poutine

TL;DR/The Short Version: Casual Korean eatery. Great combos…read morewith lots of variety. Everything was tasty. The Long Version: My husband and I went here for lunch. I got the fried chicken combo ($16.99) and my husband got the beef combo ($16.99). We requested no sesame seeds for our food and they accommodated by not sprinkling sesame seeds on the rice, japchae or beef, but they forgot that one of the fried chicken sauces has sesame seeds in it, so I had to give my husband that piece. We were going to share anyway, so it wasn't a big deal for me. The Fried Chicken Combo came with 3 pieces of fried chicken, each one a different flavour: original, sweet and spicy, and soy garlic. The sweet and spicy sauce has sesame seeds in it. Since I can't eat sesame seeds but can tolerate slight contamination, I didn't bring it up and just gave that piece to my husband. Although in retrospect I should have alerted them for them to be more aware for someone else who might have a more severe issue. Both combos came with japchae, rice, 2 dumplings, and coleslaw. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It was great. I liked both the original and the soy garlic. Hubby liked the sweet and spicy. The beef was tender and flavourful. And I liked that it was lean meat and not gristly. The dumplings were deep-fried and had pork and vegetables in it. The rice was nicely steamed and slightly sticky which I liked. The japchae was flavourful and had shiitake mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers and onions in it. It was little too oily for my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The combos also came with a can of soda or a bottle of water. My husband got a Coca Cola and I got a bottle of water, which I took to go to drink during my shopping adventures after lunch, since we were given tap water with our meal. Service was courteous and efficient. Lots of indoor seating with televisions playing K-pop music videos in the dining room. The restaurant is down a flight of stairs, so might be a problem for those with mobility issues. Review #18 (2025)

This restaurant reminds me of the types of places I used to go to with my parents and grandparents. It just brought back a sense of nostalgia. We got here right when they opened on a Sunday morning and were one of the first tables there. When we told the servers that we were visiting from the US and that Chalet came highly recommended, they took pity on us (rightfully so) and then gave us a 5 star experience. We got the chicken special that came with fries, baked potato, Cole slaw and chicken soup and you cannot forget about the gravy! I'm not a Cole slaw conossieur but it was some of the Cole slaw I've ever had. Very finely shredded and the perfect combo of tangy and sweet. The chicken was perfectly roasted and I was so sad that I was getting full off of all the homestyle sides that I couldn't eat all the chicken. But the gravy? Good god that gravy, it's been weeks and I'm still thinking about it. I'm not even a big gravy person but this was savory heavy with a kick at the end. They gave us multiple cups, one for dipping and one for slipping! Come for the food and service, this place is full of regulars and appreciate the hospitality from our servers (I believe Janet or Janice and another friendly lady!)
