Only a five minute cab ride from Villa D'Este, this is not a Michelin star restaurant but it was recently mentioned in the Michelin Guide. 27 and 35 year old brothers run this family restaurant with the dream of earning a Michelin star. You can choose from two tasting menus or order a la carte. They start their Chef's Sensationi Tasting menu (70 Euros) off with a model house they built to showcase a few amuse bouche treats that represent their history and that of the region they grew up in.
What followed was a fried oyster with bruschetta sauce, smoked salmon marinated with Barolo and a ginger mayonnaise, risotto with squid, mussels and pea cream, Bronzino with marinated escarole and crispy rice waffle, a pre-dessert and dessert. Although some dishes were hits and some were just ok, it was an incredible value for the money.
I hope the brothers can continue to refine and take their food to the next level and also attract the volume of diners they need. There is a lot of potential here. read more
