It's been sometime since someone had wrote a review about Jempoy's Lechon . To give most places an…read morehonest review I believe that people should actually visit the restaurant location and not just judge them via a food delivery experience. So here's my two bits. Staff are very friendly. The space has quite a few long tables. They even have a patio area for when it's nice out. So it's great if you have a large party of six or more. Once we decided to sit in, we were quickly given time to peruse the menu. Of course we had to try the "Cebu style" lechon belly. The combo comes with soup and rice. They also have classics like, adobo, sisig and dinuguan. As well as dessert like cassava cake, halo halo and even mais con yelo. What we ordered: (I didn't take a photo of the menu, so the prices are from the Door Dash website) Combo 1- lechon with java rice $21 Mais Con Yelo $11.95 Even though we only ordered one combo we have greeted with two small bowls of soups. A very clean beef shank/marrow soup. A great way to start the meal. The lechon was okay. The skin wasn't super crispy and the meat was pretty lean so it took a bit of effort to chew through. The flavour was delicious and when you add the sauce and rice it's one of the best combos you can get. I'm not sure if it was because we were eating around 3PM, but I expected a bit more with the lechon. The Mais Con Yelo, a sweet corn dessert with shaved ice, ice cream, milk and caramel syrup. It's a hard to find dessert that I fell in love with while in the Philippines, especially in Vancouver . So it was such a surprise to see that Jempoy's had it. It's not then best I've ever had, but so far it's the best in BC. So congrats on that! Over all a great warm experience with some comfort foods and rarely seen desserts. I'd come again to try more items. Please check them out if you're in the area. Yelp doesn't seem to have a huge impact over in Victoria. But we do gotta highlight those small businesses that have something special.

I called the restaurant and I asked what happened. The lady was rude that she kept on telling me " it was cancelled", we had no idea. So l asked about refunds. Again she said we do not have your money. Ask skip the dishes. i asked if I can talk to someone to shed light. I was so confused. At this point, she was shouting at me. Telling me "i am busy", "i am busy"!! just call skip! So, I asked for skip's contact number & she told me they do not have it, just "google it". I have been ordering food delivery thru doordash and uber for the last 2 months & have not experienced cancelled orders from different restaurants nor rude personnel. SHAME ON YOU! the lady that took my call.

It had moved a bit further north to a parking lot area, providing a bit more space. We had made a conscious effort to revisit it, so was happy that we found it and actually got some Canadian dollars so we could pay for it. They accept credit cards now, but we still used cash since we had it (and cheaper for the merchant). We had already eaten lunch on the cruise boat, but the long walk gave us an appetite. One can tell the Filipino influence because of the flag prominently displayed. There is a gas grill that is used to cook the dishes. It's a very tight menu, one side focused on hot dogs and hamburgers while the other on filipino street foods (bbq sticks). 2 sticks is $12 CAD, and we added some rice for $3. The choices for the protein on the bbq sticks was pork shoulder, pork intestine, pork ears, or chicken. We chose pork shoulder. The dishes are prepared fresh, so it took a bit of time, but it went by quick enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery. We found a ledge to sit on, and the sticks was easier to eat since it really is a finger food, while the rice required the provided fork. As for the food itself, the rice was plentiful and good, the pork was OK. We know pork shoulder is very fatty and full of connective tissue, but wish it had been cooked a lot longer to crisp everything up or make it more tender (or choose a different cut of meat like loin). As it was, the meat was pretty tough. The sauce was more of an american BBQ sauce using banana ketchup than a soy sauce based asian flavor, and had great flavor, especially once caramelized. I'm thinking the other meat choices might be better.
