Now the food itself - honestly? It was quite bad. Bad enough that I think the folks giving it 5 stars are ones who think pepper is spicy and adding a seasoning besides salt is doing something. I could barely take more than a few bites of the poke before I was hit with that fishy taste you get from thawing out frozen filets not meant to be eaten raw. Maybe they can ask some of the other poke spots where they source their ahi because theirs don't give off that ocean aroma. The pork fries would have been good if the fries weren't dripping in oil - they were soaked in it as if they put the fries in oil that wasn't hot yet (either that or they re-fried previously fried fries). Either way, I picked off the pork and ate that, even the gelatinous membrane that was in there too. Now you really can't mess up garlic shrimp.. or can you? The shrimp itself was well cooked and tender. The sauce was VERY salty (maybe some unsalted butter could solve this?) and they were pretty light handed with the garlic, which is disappointing when you're expecting an island style serving of GARLIC shrimp. And what was with the rice? It was cooked with so much water or milk that it was basically eating porridge. Disappointing is probably the best way I can describe this. Maybe this is the best Hawaiian food in Sequim but drive a little out of town and you can do so much better.

I opted for the laulau plate which came with the requisite two scoops steamed rice and one scoop mac (Hawaiian style macaroni salad) with a sizeable laulau. I unwrapped the outer ti leaves and cut into the taro leaves (steamed like spinach) to reveal succulent pork and tender butterfish inside. This was great with a little added shoyu. Spot on delicious! The ice water also hit the spot. Perfectly chilled without any aftertaste from a pitcher. None of that tepid water in a stoppered top glass bottle or carafe. Refreshing! I've never had Loco Moco before, but it was delicious. It smelled a little strange, but tasted nothing like it smelled. It seems like a good ingredient ratio. The barbecue pork bun was good, just like others I've had. The pork hash dumpling was good and moist, but not as flavorful as I expected (I've never had one before). I'm sure they're not easy to make, but I would definitely not pay that much for one again ($3 each on DoorDash). The mango milkshake is vanilla with pieces of mango blended in. It wasn't a lot of mango, but was just enough to give it a mild mango flavor. Overall, it was nice, but too expensive to get often on DoorDash, and has a $3.99 delivery fee.
