When not searching for breakfast places, we explore taco places. Birria Estilo Zacatecas had been showing on my recommendations so the day finally came. Located in a convenient location, it could be difficult to find, as it doesn't have a sign. Once you find it, you will see a menu with all the birria options you can think of, and more. The guy at the counter and server was friendly. We ordered the quesabirria and the rolled taquitos supreme. The quesabirria was of good size with enough cheese. However, it did not have enough birria. The consomé was good and the red salsa was Smokey and spicy. The taquitos had a good carne asada, with a nice crunch. However, the cheddar cheese did not work well. Overall, this was a middle-of-the-road place with some good and some not so good. Big improvement from the place that was here before. The birria is okay, on the good side. It wasn't the best but it was decent. The Birria is made with beef not with goat like it supposed to be, but I'm sure it's because they are catering to the surrounding demographic, I'm okay with that. The quesadilla was nice and big very crispy with plenty of cheese. Between the green and red the red salad had better flavor and heat, but it takes a while to build up it doesn't hit you with heat right away. Honestly the show stopper was the agua fresca de melon, it wasn't made with that milky concentrate they used actual fruit and it was great I would come here just for that. The food at Birria Estilo Zacatecas is better than that at many Mexican places of this type. The carnitas and bacon breakfast burrito in particular are nicely done. Salsas are piquant with chile and subtly spiced. The portion size is larger than expected - not that I ever have a problem finishing every morsel. I've only ordered to go, but there is lots of seating in a clean, unassuming space that smells slightly of grill smoke. The counterman with whom I've spoken is friendly and attentive. It's not the fastest place in the world (they cook to order) but it's not slow and we're pretty darned happy with what they deliver. read more

These and Sanchez Tacos in Bernalillo are the best tacos we have had in ABQ since living here for the past 3 years. OK, I have to add to my previous review. I have been coming here consistently over the last few months. No matter what I order, it's a winner. The meats are excellent. I think their carnitas are among the best in the city. They are full of flavor and are well-balanced. Carne asada is very good. They get a nice char on the meat and it is tender. Their red salsa works well with this meat. They have great birria so the taquitos and other modes are highly recommended. They are surviving on DoorDash and GrubHub. There are rarely people who eat there, but a constant stream of drivers. They have a few tables but it is just a storefront. Not a lot of atmosphere, but it is quiet. I like it. I placed an order through Uber Eats and paid separately for a 32oz horchata, which is not included with the meal. While my food was delivered, the drink I paid for was missing. I informed the driver, and she stated it was not her responsibility. I then contacted the store directly and was told they were not responsible either. As a customer, this is very disappointing. Also tried the loaded asada fries and will be getting them again. The red and green sauce are both good with a good heat in them. Been here a couple of times and the food has been delicious. Normally, we would get asada burrito and pastor tacos but this time, we tried the lengua and tripa tacos.
