Casa Trejo Mexican Restaurant - Chili Colorado is my favorite! - Mexican Near Me - Yucaipa, California

We've been customers for years and have always enjoyed the food, which is why this was so disappointing. From the moment our server (tall skinny guy with tattoos) came to our table, he was rude, dismissive, and acting strange. We are understanding people who have worked as servers and in hospitality previously and decided to remain polite, give him the benefit of the doubt, and attempt to still enjoy our dinner. However, it progressively got worse. He repeatedly cut us off while we were speaking, made sarcastic and strange remarks, rushed us to order drinks, skipped over my sister in law, rolled his eyes multiple times, shouted "if you were listening you would have heard me say I'm bringing water for everyone" very rudely when someone asked for a water, and then didn't return to take our food order for almost 30 minutes after he brought our drinks. When he did return, he was again being rude. It got to the point where he was actually making us feel uncomfortable and we asked if everything was okay and explained that his behavior felt disrespectful. We requested a different server, but instead of addressing our concerns, he began arguing with us, raised his voice, said, "can I trade you guys out" then he abruptly walked away... At that point, we decided to get up and go to the front to pay for our drinks and leave. We explained the situation to the manager, who offered personal reasons for the employee's behavior. While we sympathize with anyone going through a difficult time, we don't feel it's an excuse to treat customers poorly when they have been polite and respectful and put up with his poor behavior longer than we should've have in the first place. As we were speaking with the manager he was nearby and saying weird things under his breath again. While we were walking out after paying with the manager, the server continued shouting at us and saying rude things across the restaurant. He even asked my brother in law if he was trying to fight while we were walking out... we didn't say anything to retaliate and left the restaurant to find another spot for dinner. We had a small child with us and he was acting erratically, so just wanted to share a tale of caution. The food has always been good, the staff (besides the gentleman we had tonight) is friendly, and we've supported this restaurant for years, but hopefully they can ensure a safer and more pleasant dining experience for guests. read more

Overpriced. Not worth it. I had their "nothing like it- casa margarita" which was nothing special. Tasted like grocery store margarita mix honestly. The chili verde quesadilla was $20 and had 5 chunks of meat in it. Will not be back. Overpriced. Oh wait, I already said that. Literally the only take away from this place is how outrageous their prices are. Make it make sense: $6.75 for HALF a sliced avocado but $7.75 for a whole sliced avocado?!? l$10.99 for a SIDE of steamed vegetables, I'll pass. read more

The only people that come here are ones that have been coming for years,out of nostalgia I guess. the food is overpriced and bland. Don't recommend coming here when we have so much delicious authentic places elsewhere in town. The owners and managers should also think twice about their turnover rate and how they treat employees, as they have gained quite the reputation in town. read more

Lets start off with the food is delicious, however i ordered a bean and rice burrito with no cheese and some red sauce , it came with a tiny thing of salsa and some chips I paid 26 dollars for that. This is kind of a little hole in the wall restaurant in a shopping strip, but the food is incredibly good in the service was unexpectedly exceptional. I had the Albondigas cup of soup, which is a smaller portion, but perfect for me as I have a smaller appetite. Also comes in a bowl and a large serving. Very delicious, excellent flavors in the soup. I highly recommend it. Others at my table tried the Carne Asada plate, the Chile Relleno plate, and the chicken enchilada plate. The chili relleno was the best my sister-in-law has ever had, so my son ordered one on the side and he agreed. Phenomenal. No one was disappointed in any way with their selections. Food is delicious! Ordered Chile verde pork meat and it was good. The rice and beans were also good. My husband ordered the red chile colorado plate and it was okay, he preferred mine. It's a little expensive but now a days everything is. They can definitely work on their service. read more

Casa Trejo has been a staple restaurant for our family for years. We went out to for our sister's birthday tonight and unfortunately ended up having to leave before eating. The server was extremely rude, dismissive, and made us feel very uncomfortable. With a horrible attitude, back talking and even yelling at some of our family members from across the restaurant. Beware of some of the servers because even though you tell the managers there isn't much that they will do. read more

The service was pleasant but no exaggeration- this was by far the worst Mexican Food I've ever had in my life. The brown salsa did not taste like salsa and I was told I would have to pay $6 for a side of green salsa and they didn't have a red. That's pretty crazy to me. Adding an extra star solely for the cheap happy hour drinks. Come here for drinks, not food. Their non-HH prices are absolutely wild at $20-$30 a plate... They think they're fancy I guess. I've been coming here for years. Now, I just bought a chicken salad... it had maybe 10 pieces of lettuce, advertised as $19.75 Grilled chicken salad... the chicken slapped on top in a non professional looking disgusting array of poorly cooked chicken. The only appetizing thing on the plate was the avocado on the side. I asked for a different meat they took the meat off and slapped shredded beef on the same pieces of salad. Not happy. Maybe I came on a one in a million day or after an employee pep talk, But the food was outstanding especially the salsa and the Mexican rice. Four employees greeted us. Two others struck conversations with us. The bar was packed. The beer was ice cold draft. The food was not too hot, just perfect. The service was really good. The food was presented in good time with good portions. It would be nice to have some gentle background music. Overall this is the best restaurant I've been to In a couple years. It's not a hole in the wall typical Mexican restaurant. Nice atmosphere, But the glue down entry rugs in the dining room are kind of tacky. Overall this is the best restaurant I've been to in the last year, easily. The restaurant business is tough but these guys are hitting home runs. I keep craving their food. It was amazing. And all I had was at lunch special. Prices are higher than your average Mexican restaurant, but it's well worth it. We've been here years ago, I remember it being really good. This time not so great. They charge extra for using a credit card. No problem. But I used my ATM card. That money comes directly out of my checking account. They charged me extra and she said they can't change that, cc or atm.. So I'm being charged extra for nothing. Came here on a Friday night. I expected it to be busy. The wait wasn't too bad. We were seated within 20 minutes. The chips and salsa were delicious. We ordered right away. Three rounds of chips and salsa and almost 90 minutes later, we decided to leave. Totally unacceptable. Why would anyone wait this long for a simple dinner. They checked on us a few times and even asked us how many chips and salsa we had. We only kept asking for more because our food never came. I will never return here. Took my 86 year old mother last week to Casa Trejo for lunch . From the time we sat down our waitress kept telling us she was leaving . Immediately after our food arrived she brought the check and reminded us she was leaving . Usually when someone is leaving or going on break they introduce the person who is covering for them.Never once asked if we would like refills on drinks . The shredded beef nachos didn't have any pico , olives , Jalepenos and were cold in the middle . My mom took what was left home to heat up. My wife and I have been coming to Linda's Casa Trejo for the past two years. In the beginning food and service were great. Over the past few months it has gone down hill rapidly. We came several times over the course of the last 3 months and it has gotten worse on every visit. Service is still good but the food has really tasted poorly. Today was our final trip. We placed our order, she was very pleasant. Our food arrived. My wife ordered fish tacos and I ordered the Enchilada dinner. The food tasted awful. We even asked our waitress if they have new cooks in back. She said she has only been there for a couple of months. Two years ago I would have recommended Linda's but unfortunately because of our recent visit I would not recommend dining at Linda's Casa Trejo. read more

EXTRA SALSA $1.50 EACH. I haven't visited Casta TooMucho in a long time since we have such a nice variety of Mexican restaurants now in our area. I used to be a big fan of their salsa! 4 of us went out to lunch together and were served one smallish basket of chips and a small salsa. We asked serval times if we could have more salsa and we're brought 1 more. My friend asked for the salsa instead of pico with her meal and was served one more. We then asked if we could please have 2 more salsas and none was brought. One last ditch effort when we were asked if we need anything... yes please two more salsas.. it's good tasting stuff, right?? We were then told that someone told us it would be $1.50 per?? We said, no thanks and we were never told it it was going to be any extra cost. Got our bills (split bills) and 3 of us were charged the $1.50 after we told them that no one had told us about the charge. This is not a good way to do business. Please tell your customers up front. Your salsa is great but don't hord it! That's just crazy. I understand not wanting waste or if customers are taking advantage of you but it's really not a lot of salsa due to the very small size and chip to salsa ratio. I was there with a couple friends , on a weekday at 1pm, there were only four other customers , a couple finishing up and two customers at the bar . Yet we were rushed to order food . I have been coming here for 30+yrs. They have been a family tradition but we just went the other night. Our bill was $97 and some change. When went to pay my bill went up to over $100. When I told the lady at the register why did my bill go up she showed me the small print stating the "cash price" or the "card price". That's some BS, also they should be aware in CA a law was passed that charging for using a debit card is illegal. Debt card is the same as cash, they can do it for credit cards but not debit cards. How many of you have taken by this scam? Needless to say we will no longer be customers until this is resolved. read more

We love Casa Trejo! It's a must stop every time we head out to the desert. The Casa Margarita and carnitas are our regular order because they are both that good. On this trip I decided to also order the business persons lunch special and ordered a chilie rellenos and a beef taco and they were freshly prepared and outstanding! My family and I went for the first time the other day and we were extremely disappointed. The staff were amazing. Our waitress was great and accommodating and went above and beyond so kudos to her! The prices were ridiculous for the food you received. My mom ordered a burrito for $21 and it was soooo small. Since it's a wet burrito she asked if she can get the sauce on the side and she was told she would be charged $6 extra if they did that. There was 4 of us and they give you veryyyyy small bowls of salsa with like 12 chips to share. They give you 2 free bowls of chips and 2 tiny bowls of salsa after that you get charged even if you just want one more bowl of salsa and no more chips. If you don't pay with cash you also get charged a fee to use your debit card. Most places(gas stations) it's Thirty-five to Fifty Cents to use your card but here it's like $5. Weird! We were really excited to try this place because we love a good Mexican food restaurant but we will not be coming back due to the whole experience just going down hill the minute we sat down. read more

So this must be a local favorite. It is not someplace I would ever choose to go to. A friend invited us. Frankly, it's a bit of a "hole in the wall" kind of place. The food was ok. But wow, the prices at this place! We had lunch there. Most entrees were over $20 per plate. Given the "ambiance" (possibly renovated sometime in the 1980's), the service (we arrived to a mostly empty restaurant, it took them 10 minutes to seat us.) and the prices (see above), I would not be in a big hurry to ever go here again. read more

We sat in the bar, ordered appetizers, that were fantastic! Sam was our bartender... she was a-lot of fun! She handled a full bar so efficiently and our margaritas were great! I was very impressed with how she treated a very rude customer who called her a "racist " after she asked her politely to not sit at the service end of the bar. Instead of simply moving to another seat that the bartender offered her, she decided to throw a fit and call her a racist! That lady was extremely rude! Everyone was very nice and helpful! They served me right away. They accommodated me with chips and extra salsa and I wanted a ranchero sauce instead of a red sauce, but then they gave me a green ranchero sauce which was actually red, but it was very very good!
