I've stayed in hostels around the world. This place is hands-down, the worst run, sketchiest,…read moredirtiest one I have ever run across. Unbelievably, horridly run place. Why five stars? So this review would stand and be read. Bikini Hostel deserves one star, or less. In fact, shut it down. It was free for me because they tried to use my credit card to buy pizza and Bank of America refunded all my money due to fraud. The police might as well be on staff - the cops come at least twice a night. I was there 3 nights. Each morning they locked me out of my room, and once took all my stuff. The lockers didn't work either - that was part of the CC fraud case. And don't bother asking for your deposit back. It's so messed up I saw the receptionist take a drunk guys money, give him beer, then call the cops to haul him away for being drunk. He was yelling "PUSSIES!!!!" As the cops shoved him in the car. Unreal. For real, everything is so upside down I'm not sure the experience WAS real. That said, I met some great folks staying there just looking for a good time. I'm gonna stay in touch with a couple. A lifetime of stories in 3 days. Absolutely whacked place. I left yesterday and have already forgotten some shit. It's super cheap and overpriced.

Downhill management. Never go back to those places. If you see that hostel. Do not spend your night and waste your money there. That place is a waste. They charge for your luggage and locker. I don't care for that place. When you drive by, do not stop at that place. And find a better hotel somewhere or another place around there. Like I said. Stay away from that place.

Great area/location, some nice staff. Other than that, absolutely horrible. I was promised a…read morepartial refund for inconveniences regarding a moaning old man next to my room, & now they won't even respond. There was hair absolutely everywhere I found it everyday until my last day. There was hair on the bed, shower, sink, toilet, & probably all over me when I left. Companies also need to hold themselves accountable, if you tell a customer you're giving them a partial refund, you better give em 1. Also the security guard seemed to disappear with a girl from the lobby during the late hours of the night. I believe in minding your business, b/ that's extremely unprofessional, & more importantly unsafe. These qualities aren't what I look for in cleaning, security, company policy, etc. The only saving grace was a very nice woman working the lobby, who tried to cheer me up & recommended a few places to go. Along with the location, Calle Ocho is 1 of the best parts of the city. They never kicked the moaning man out, he had to leave on his own accord. Considering he got away with this, any1 can get away with sexual harassment, & this company won't even respond to me anymore. It's quite dystopian. I shouldn't feel like I'm being annoying, or the company doesn't care, when I have suffered major problems. It wouldn't be hard to get ran over outside the hotel either, just to keep in mind. BREAKDOWN OF BASIC NECESSITIES THAT WEREN'T MET: No fridge in room, fridge in lobby was out of order. No snacks or gift items. Water pressure & heating system is extremely touchy & bad. Bad & unclear communication. Lack of care from seemingly everyone. You can hear EVERYTHING (ahem). Bad smell. Hard to sleep, light leaks into the room, the bed is uncomfortable. There is hair absolutely everywhere no exaggeration. Literally no room service. Unsafe security. Unreliable customer support. "You're on your own" attitude even down to servicing yourself in room service. Picture of old men's hands playing dominoes above the bed, (we all know what this implies), how about some fucking nature instead, huh? Horrible (inexistent) cleaning services. I would've done far better as a cleaning person. Dirty & gross, I left it with less hair, grime, & smell than when I got there. Stressful, isolating, & uncomfortable. THEY NEED TO DO THEIR JOBS. No chill @ all, it's not a chill hotel. DON'T STAY HERE, IT'S NOT WORTH IT. YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN IN MIAMI & NOT SUFFER. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS, ARE OLDER IN AGE, WANT A MORE "MIAMI" LOCATION, ARE DISTURBED BY HAIR/GERMS, CREEPY SECURITY GUARDS, TENANTS. TAKE OFF THE ROSE COLORED GLASSES. THIS COMPANY DOESN'T GAF BESIDES THE FEW NICE RECEPTIONISTS, & THAT'S THEIR JOB. THIS HOTEL IS NOT NICE. I'D RATHER STAY IN AN AIRBNB, OR EVEN A DECENT MOTEL. TO SPEND A LITTLE EXTRA IS WORTH IT, IF YOU'RE VACATIONING TO MIAMI, @ LEAST MAKE SURE WHEREVER YOU'RE STAYING IS NICE. THOSE LEAVING 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE EXTREMELY IGNORANT, THEY LOVE THE ROSE TINTED GLASSES. REALISTICALLY, IT'S 2 STARS, @ MOST, 3 STARS.

I stayed here for 3 nights, for my back to back pre cruise stay, here is my review:…read more Good: Location, Location, Location. It's in downtown Miami, with lotsa restaurants nearby. There is a Whole Foods half a block away, and majority of the restaurants, including a CVS drug store are in that area, within 2/3 block away from the hotel. Bank atm are across the draw bridge. We didn't use the monorail for we are busy exploring the city by foot, lol. Not so good: The hotel restaurant, Riverview bar and grill - Although lovely, the menu was limiting, the same menu for both lunch and dinner. The wagyu burger was expensive for what you get and bland in taste at best. It's like it's been out there for awhile and just waiting to be order, it's also dry. Cruise line hamburger were much better in taste. The rest of my order including the drinks were delicious ! Solution: Need to expand their menu items. For a " regency" hotel, I was surprised it was very limiting. Expand the dinner menu, I saw a couple of people having dinner at the restaurant, probably fellow cruisers like us. The African American lady host was friendly, hospitable and kind. Reception/ Customer Service - My reservation requires a pre-payment at time of booking, one night stay charged, approximately $200.00, it's already been charged and cleared by my Ccard company some hyatt hotel only do Ccard authorization anywhere between $1.00 - $50.00 when reservation requires a pre-payment. But why in the world, this young Latino man charged me the entire 3 night stay at check in for $927.00 ? My Ccard decline the authorization, I asked to try again was but declined again. Didn't say anything nor didn't apologize either. Imagined my shocked and embarrassment !!! I told him to hold on, scramble my finances for about 5 mins and told him to try again, it went thru this time, but again no apology no word, just handed me my keys and that was it. Maybe the hotel manager need to address the issue re: paid - pre-payment authorization vs credits card authorization at check in. That " too young to know, too young to care mentality" never fails. Noise: For the most part, the hotel is quiet, it just those stupid, ignorant, cacky race car drivers who thinks they own the road, by blasting their (borrowed) sports car engine all day and night ! Not the hotel fault! They were having a renovation/ repair in the lobby while we were there . This hotel is hopping with flight attendants stays and hotel sponsored events. I will stay again for the convenience!

However, the walls are paper thin! There's signs all over the floors saying quiet hours at 9pm to 7am. But you can still hear your neighbors laughing and having full on conversations. I don't even think they're loud! Also the hotel is located right outside the river bridge. Every few minutes you can hear the bells and whistles outside the window on top of the typical Miami honking. I just expected more from this hotel being a Hyatt Regency. Oh well.

The location is a few blocks away from alot of the fun parts of south beach, but you can still walk for 5-10 minutes to Lincoln Mall and South Beach. This is another plus for people who want just a place to get a good night's sleep and don't care to party. Noise is not allowed after midnight. The clerks are nice but they are very strict. i couldn't even bring a female friend into the room at night. She was allowed to stay sitting down outside after i introduced her to the clerk. But my guy friends had to wait outside the gate even in night hours. This is good for weeding out people who dont belong here but it's a major sucky thing if you want to invite friends to hang with you for a bit. My phone was stolen at the festival and the staff were sweet enough to let me use the office phone to make important calls. The other guests at the hostel were a bit odd. Not as friendly as the ones at the other hostel i stayed at but my roommates were angels. I stayed in a room for 12 people, but only 5 or 6 roommates were there. There were two bathrooms connected to our room. The breakfast of bagels was not very good; but on my third day, they made delicious burgers in the evening. There are three computers provided free of charge if you need to use the internet. I get cold very easily and the blanket they provided was not warm enough, so make sure to bring an extra blanket if you get cold easily. By the way, some clerks speak Turkish, so I got to practice a bit. :)

Here is the breakdown of our "staycation/shared-room-with-strangers" experience. The "Parenting by Proxy" Experience Let's address the elephant in the room--or rather, the screaming children in the room next door. It wasn't just that they were loud; it was like we were accidentally cast as the supporting characters in their personal Broadway debut of Lord of the Flies. * The Walls: I'm convinced the walls are made of high-quality tissue paper. I didn't just hear the kids; I feel like I helped raise them. * The Rescue: Huge shoutout to the front desk. They sent someone up to "negotiate a ceasefire" (aka tell them to pipe down), and it actually worked. Service: 1, Tiny Terrors: 0. The Perks (The "Hit" Part) * The View: We had an ocean view that was so stunning I almost forgot I knew the life story of the toddlers next door. * The Bed: Pure heaven. If I could have stayed in that bed forever, I would have. It was like sleeping on a cloud that doesn't judge you for your life choices. * Location: If you're heading to the port, this is the spot. Plus, Whole Foods is a short walk away, which is perfect for grabbing a $14 asparagus water or the three bottles of sunscreen you inevitably forgot. The Great Mysteries of the Intercontinental "Why is there a water station on the first floor?" Seriously, I'm asking for a friend. Is it a social experiment? Do they think we only get thirsty when we're near the lobby? Nothing says "luxury" like hiking down thirty flights of stairs to get a cup of H2O like a thirsty traveler in the Sahara. The Verdict It's a great hotel if you want a beautiful view and a comfortable sleep--provided you bring industrial-grade earplugs or pray that your neighbors don't have children with the lung capacity of opera singers. Would I stay again? Yes. But I'm bringing a soundproof tent to set up on top of that glorious bed
