I travel very often and I am rarely ever led to review a hotel but this is different. First of all the door is under a construction awning so you can't even see it. The smell in the lobby is horrible and gives you a preview of what's to come. The room had a moldy/mildew odor to it that led me into coughing fits. The beds were two different sizes and the shower was disgusting! I thought about it for a little bit and checked out and booked a nicer hotel down the street for $20 more. Booked this hotel for our trip to Miami for Ultra Music Festival.. Not worth saving a couple hundred bucks over the span of 3 days. I've stayed in many hotels in many developing countries; this was the worst hotel I've ever been in. I honestly don't know what they do with all the extra money, as the rates are only about 10% cheaper than the competition for the high traffic weekend. We were cheap and took a chance on a lowly rated hotel.. Never again. The good: Some of the staff were friendly. I hope they get paid well because they have to put up with a lot of complaining I'm sure. The bad: Everything else. The hotel smells like pee, bathrooms don't have door knobs, nothing seems to have been upgraded or replaced in a couple decades. I understand this hotel is supposed to have "the basics".. but it's much less than what you'd expect. We left a day early and paid half-price for a nice place on South Beach (The Riviera South Beach.. Great spot). Our last day at the Leamington was non-refundable because it was UMF weekend, but our group had no regrets about leaving and paying extra for a nice place to stay after a long weekend of partying. read more

Very poorly maintained. Room was dirty with poor quality beds. Bathroom was also dingy with little water pressure in the shower. Upon check in we realized this place was a dump -- no better than flop house hotels in San Francisco. Although the location is good, the quality at $95/night is well below standard. It is unlikely that the property would pass standard safety and sanitation requirements (unless the city of Miami doesn't have any.) We originally reserved for two nights, but decided immediately to cancel the second night. The front desk clerk on Sunday referred us to the manager (unable to reach them by phone.) the next morning we asked to speak to the manager and was told that she was unavailable. We were required to make the request through Expedia with whom we booked the room. Expedia was also unable to reach the manager. We explained that we would be checking out that day (which we indicated to the front desk the day before). The clerk said she would pass it on to the manager. Later, the clerk indicated that the manage would approve the request. The request was not approved and attempts to resolve the matter through the credit card company were unsuccessful: even though we did not spend the second night, we were billed for it. This rating is based on the quality of the property and the integrity (or rather lack of) of the proprietors. Definitely a place to avoid. read more

My friends stayed here because of the convenient down town location so we visited them a lot. Granted that it's a great location, the hotel itself is terrible. Once you get up to the hotel floors, it smells like a boys' locker room. The doors don't close. It looks like they just used closet doors for the rooms to the doors (hence why they don't even auto lock when you close the door..). The bathroom lights don't work. It's just really run down as you can see from the photos. But besides the good location, the staff was really accommodating and there's a nice roof top to get away from all the craziness. This was a very old smelly hotel, but it was cheap for Miami. period. The restroom was clean and I never saw any bugs. I never figured out why the fourth floor rooms didn't have AC units, but the lower floors did. We needed an AC window unit. There are plenty of places to walk to from the hotel to eat (try Sparky's BBQ). Also, the shuttle service to the airport and/or port is very convenient. We just stayed one night before our cruise left so it wasn't that bad. read more

Stayed here 2 nights (we were supposed to stay 4 nights) On the second night, my husband found a bug in the bed (not a roach or bedbug, some other kind of bug). Bathroom is small, rundown and the shower was dirty. This place is pretty gross. They do, however, have a nice staff and a free shuttle to the cruise terminal. We were going to spend 2 nights before our cruise and 2 nights after. The insect was the last straw. We cancelled the last 2 nights and, for a few more dollars, booked a nicer room at a hotel with a pool and beach access. If you can afford to spend a little more on nicer accommodations, do it! We rented the room on booking.com, we arrived 2 days later for reasons that it's not important in that case, and when we got to the hotel, they rented our room and didn't give out money back. I think that if it was payed, the room should be available or at least give the money back. And the front desk guy wasn't kind rude with me. By far a really bad hotel, i won't lie I know what i was getting into. It was bound to be a decent to bad stay. The only reason I stayed here was to save money on cab fare I figure i saved between 300-400$ being about 80$ for 1 trip from the nicer hotels near the same rate. The hotel is also central to everything i needed cvs walgreens small bar across the street thats open 24 hours. Ultra music festival was held a block away, I can here the bass from my room. The power outlets are so old that the plugs won't stay in the wall and all of them don't seem to work. I went to unlatch a window and it literally fell right off of the tracks. Paint is coming off all the walls. This place is super dingy. The TV's are 50lbs from the 1990s. The room smells like bleach and the lobby of the hotel smelled disgusting. You know how sometimes you read those reviews and they say "dont stay here blah blah" and you think "eh, its just one night and it's cheap, how bad could it be?" ....no. Not this place. Seriously. DO NOT STAY HERE We stayed because they had a free shuttle to the cruise port in the morning. I would have rather paid for an uber. They did not have our reservation when we checked in, I had to show confirmation. We had to ride in a janky elevator with a creepy dude who watched us go to our room. Okay, just lock the door, right? I've stayed in some fleabag no-tell motels in my career as Professional International Adventurer. There was the place where I'm certain someone was being murdered in the room next door. There was the place with its own resident anole. There was the place with the prostitution parking lot. And that's just here in the US! Don't even ask about some of my experiences in Russia. So, with that perspective, the Leamington really isn't so bad. Is it lacking in any kind of decor? Yes. Was the carpet pieced together and tattered at the seams? Yes. Was the bottom of the bathroom door gnawed and disfigured from what looked like someone desperate to escape? Yes. The elevator, remotes, and hot water weren't working and the "continental breakfast" consisted of toast and coffee. All these things are true. At least the doors locked, the sheets were clean, and, most importantly, it was cheaper than anywhere else by far in Miami. read more

Of course I did not expect much from this place since it was dirt cheap for being walking distance to everything in downtown Miami. We just needed a place to stay for the night before our cruise took off the next day. Our flight came in at 9am and there was no way we could checked in any earlier than 3pm. This was expected since the check in for many hotels are usually around that time anyways. The outside of this hotel looks very old and run-down. The lobby looks decent, but the rooms were hideous and disgusting. The hallways smelt like a locker room. We had trouble getting into our room due to the poorly installed locks on our door. The carpet felt like there was a thick layer of dirt packed on. I was afraid of taking off my shoes.... I even showered with my sandals because the shower looked pretty gross as well. There was not enough room in the bathroom to even close the door as I showered or used the toilet. It took a good 10 minutes until I was able to get warm water from the shower. On the plus side to this was the functioning A/C. Too bad there was no way to control it. We were freezing in our rooms and had to request more blankets from the front desk. Other pluses were the clean sheets and lack of infestations. I've been to nice hotels like Embassy Suits in Anaheim, CA where they had huge infestation problems! I have my shares of bad hotels, but this ones really takes the cake. Overall, I didn't let this bad hotel ruin my amazing trip to Miami! This quaint hotel has a great downtown location! Walking in was bittersweet. Literally, it smelled like vinegar and tropical room spray. The hospitality staff was almost nice and offered us a late checkout in the event that we needed a longer rest from our travels. Rather than renewing the expired elevator permit, they opted to put an "OUT OF ORDER" sign over the elevator doors. This worked to their advantage because they do not have a fitness center on the premises. This gives all their guests the opportunity to climb the fire escape while carrying their bags. Excellent gluteus and arm workout. I was only on the top floor, no big deal. I was so ready to hop into the twin bed but first, I needed to shower. I'm glad I brought my own toiletries because none were provided. The previous guests were kind enough to leave their garbage behind both in the garbage can and strewn throughout the room. Note: I recommend that you wear flip flops in the shower. Finally, time to sleep. As I crawl into bed I immediately felt that I was not alone. Sure enough I lift up the covers to find a dollar coin-sized spider cozying up next to my thighs. He must have been cold or hungry. I may have not gotten the best sleep of my life but at least I had a late check out to look forward to. Normal check out is 11:30. At 10 AM sharp someone came into the room to wake me up and inform me that I needed to leave. I called the front desk from my cell phone and asked what time my late check out was. I was told that I had until 12:30. I decided to go back to sleep. At 11 AM the maintenance manager knocked on my door to tell me that it was time to leave and stood at the door until he saw me beginning to pack my things. Thankfully, I made it to the lobby just in time for a standard check out. They do offer a continental breakfast. Luckily, I didn't eat the muffins they had because they don't offer muffins during breakfast. Perhaps they used to be apples? Or even oranges? If you're still reading this review, you're probably waiting to hear the rest of the story. Sadly, that was the end of my stay at the Lemington Hotel. I do not like to write bad reviews so I won't. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. First of all, the parking garage is behind the hotel in a little alleyway that isn't very close to the hotel. So not only did we have to walk in the pouring rain but none of the parking attendants spoke English. They originally told us we couldn't park there until we argued with them. Then as we are getting our stuff our of the car one of the attendants driving one of the other guests brand new car backed into the wall, leaving a dent. Now for the actual hotel.... The elevator is like the elevators in titanic... There is a man running them, and they run like they are super old. Our door to our room wouldn't shut unless you locked and dead bolted it. The bathroom door wouldn't shut at all. The windows still had old tape on them from eons ago and when I opened the blinds they fell off onto my friends head. The floors were wet and almost felt slimy. We were terrified of bed bugs so we slept with the lights on. The only way we managed to stay the entire night is because we polished off a very large bottle of liquor. read more

Flew into Miami a day before our cruise, so getting a room for just one night, we didn't think it would be TOO much of a disaster. ...I think we spoke too soon. An elevator with a hand crank/sliding door that's only operated by someone til midnight. A 5th floor that the stairs don't extend to, therefore being UNABLE to reach said 5th floor after midnight. That's right kids, you sleep on that 5th floor and there's a fire in the middle of the night, you're screwed. Oh, not to mention the NO air conditioning and bolted windows in our 4th floor room. I have breathing problems and that is just unacceptable. We stayed for 20 minutes, checked out, and went to a Holiday Inn a town or so away. I picked this hotel because it was super cheap. However, I was severely disappointed to learn that they don't even have parking! There are parking lots in the surrounding blocks, but you still have to walk distances ranging from moderately far to really far in order to get back to the hotel. And of course, one has to pay separately for the parking lots. Since we were staying multiple nights we had no choice but to pay the "overnight fee," which was $20 per night. So THAT'S how these people make money! No wonder the hotel was so cheap! As for the hotel itself, if you judge it from the exterior façade, it is an old, run-down building with shady people on the outside, loitering. If you judge it from the lobby, it looks like a respectable establishment, and you might chastise yourself for jumping to conclusions about judging a book by its cover. And finally, if you judge it by the rooms themselves, you realize you were right the first time. They had the bright idea of making the lobby renovated and nice-looking, but the rooms couldn't be more atrocious! In our room, the front door has a non-functional doorknob. You have to hold it a certain way before you can lock it. The bathroom door does not lock at all. The toilet doesn't flush very well. And there is no A/C! Well there is, but there's no button to control it! Basically we're at the mercy of whatever temperature it happens to be, depending on whether the air vent decides to be on or off. The elevator happened to be out of service during our stay, so we've had to climb stairs to our fourth story room. At least I am getting some exercise in? The "continental breakfast" is nothing more than toasted bread and coffee. If that's not your thing, tough luck. The "free breakfast" will not be to your satisfaction. And there's free wi-fi! That's one of the main reasons I picked this location. However, the wi-fi is super slow. My piece of garbage phone loaded Google Maps faster than my laptop did using their wi-fi, so fortunately I was still able to find where I needed to go. In short, use this place only if you're desperate. And you don't have a car. And you don't need internet or don't mind slow one. read more

Agree with all previous reviews. This place is horrific. It's a flophouse. a transient hotel. They lost my reservation as well, and 'graciously' put me up in the 'spare' room. FOR ONE NIGHT of my 4 night reservation. Window-mounted Air Con rattled all night, blinds didn't close all the way, shower dripped all night, and a definitive lack of hot water. Not to mention that the entire property smelled like a porta-john and the single elevator was broken, forcing people to drag their suitcases up the fire stairs. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. This hotel is in ruins. The elevator barely works and is incredibly loud. The doors on each room hardly close and feel terribly unsafe. The rooms themselves are tiny and lacking any sort of amenities. You are asked to sign a waiver saying you won't do any drugs in the room or packing of any cargo. Breakfast was not edible at all. The "100% orange juice" was orange kool-aid. There was shit on the walls, patches on the walls, the doors did not lock or work, they have the jankiest elevator I've ever seen from the 1920s that practically took you into literal hell. The doors had the look of something out of monsters inc where they had to patch the door together but there were cracks every where looking right through it. The walls were crying it was so bad. The "continental breakfast" consisted of a piece of bread and when we went down to the front desk because we didn't feel safe in the room, they made sure to put us in a different janky ass room which was a tiny bit better. There was mold growing in the shower and it looked like someone was shot in the bathtub. On the bright side you don't have to worry about charging your electronic device because the plugs don't work in the outlet because they fall right out! They also charge up the ass if you want to cancel which is $110 which if you're wonder is more then you even pay for the room. For the love of god please do not book a room here. This is easily one of the worst hotels I have ever seen in my life. But I think this is mostly the fault of the management. Seems like the cleaning staff tried their best to make the place semi presentable in the face of overwhelming odds so kudos to them. The redeeming features. The room smelled pretty musty but the sheets were clean. The bed didn't break into two when you lay down on it. The bathtub looked like a Neanderthal and a t-rex had been using it, but there was no fungus in the mix. The ac was loud enough to wake a hibernating bear but it managed to cool the room. The WiFi didn't work, but atleast the power strip kept my cellphone charged while I looked for other hotels to move to. Enough whining. Time to sleep. read more

This is false advertising at its best & I'm only giving one star because there's not an option to give ZERO along with a skull & crossbones! We came to Miami to take a Carnival Cruise to celebrate my 50th birthday & I hope things get better than what they have been so far. I knew booking this hotel was a set-up as SOON as I stepped foot inside. The smell of "OLD" & MOLD were immediate! I would've cancelled but we got here about 0130 & we were beat and also because I would've still been charged $130 of the $160 I paid to book the room. My plan was to enjoy Miami for a day but I just know all of my belongings will be GONE (aka STOLEN) if we leave them unattended! I have never been SO disappointed in my life! There are literally patches of fuzzy MOLD growing next to the shower. The pics I have posted does not do this hole justice & PLEASE don't get me started on "Mr. Personality" at the front desk! He was not friendly & very cold toward us. Oan...here's the real gotcha...these clowns had the AUDACITY to charge me a $100 DEPOSIT!!!!! They should've paid ME a deposit for staying here!! I am currently lying in this LARGE TWIN BED with my friend. He got in on one side & I on the other & we BOTH rolled straight to the middle bc of the saggy mattress with the hard, rusted springs that you can hear SQUEAKING all the way across the street!! These mattresses have most definitely been here since the very 1st day this place opened. I'm in the bed FULLY CLOTHED & itching like I stepped in a patch of poison Ivy. The person who did the painting was obviously blind folded when he/she did so, especially in the bathroom where the window was painted shut! The AC is so loud that sleep is a NO if you're a light sleeper like myself, which is why I'm up at 0330 typing this review. I can't take the smell, the very small "flat screen TV" with the fuzzy picture & poor sound & I can't wait until 8am so I can check out of here, even though I paid for 2 nights. I will find another hotel but if I don't, I will sleep on the street!! It's GOT to be safer & cleaner!! Since i am on trip from Chicago, i expected prices of rooms to be similar here in Miami, if not less. I paid around 110 bucks (per day rates) for 4 nights without doing my homework. A decent hotel with bar and pool - you would have to spend around 150 bucks a day. Pros Cheap Price - if you think you can stay in streets or in train station, you are more than welcome to stay in here. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever been in. The hotel reminds me of Chilligans Island from Martin. The doors to the rooms look like they've been broken into plenty of times. When you walk into your room their is a musty odor that smells like cats. The room is moist and needs to be dehumidified. They try to mask the odor and moistness by having on the AC that is plugged into the wall. The walls have holes in them and the paint is cracked as if it has asbestos. The bathroom is very tiny and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. The carpet also looks like it hasn't been vacuumed. The bed sheets look like they haven't been washed or changed. read more

They told me they cannot get me another room with power. Then i ask for a refund, the front desk told me this booking is non-refundable. So i called www.ticketsatwork.com customer service for help and they told me the same thing. I checked out with hotel front desk immediately and told them to cancel my reservation and give me refund because they are not able to give me a room that i can charge me cellphone. They refused to refund, and i notified the hotel i will dispute this charge with my credit card company. Then i checked out with Leamington hotel and re-book another hotel. After 2 months of disputing with my credit card company, i am still not able to get my money back because hotel insist their non-refundable policy. The fault is at hotel, because they were unable accommodate their guest a room with the most basic requirement, and the hotel environment was messy and noisy, not to say it would never worth for a $342 night stay, but to be honest it was not even a livable place to stay. read more

Found a roach crawling on the night stand when I woke up and it was looking at me. I freaked out! Then as I was laying in bed one night there was a baby spider dangling right in front of me while I was watching tv on an old CRT screen. Stayed at Leamington for just one night. All I can say is, you get what you pay for. If you just need a bed to sleep in and are on a budget, it works. Lobby and rooms aren't updated or appealing to the eye, everything looks old and worn down. Staff was fine. They held our bags for us until it was time to check in. I knew what I was getting myself into when booking a cheap hotel room in the middle of Miami, so I can't complain. read more

$125 , lobby smelled horrible, door to room louvered, not solid. No hand towels, wash cloths or blanket. Toilet did not flush. No hot water. Shuttle too crowded to use. We ended up using Uber. Also it is located in the heart of homeless central. Worst accommodations I've ever had. Would not recommend. Spend the extra $ and go somewhere else. read more

This place makes motel 6 look like a 4 star hotel. When we first arrived in our Uber, we passed this place right by without noticing it. It's a hole in the side of the building and the owners seem to pay no attention to any aspects of its appearance. All of the doors in the room have paint chipping. There was one 1-foot long piece of paint falling off the side of the bathroom door. Good place if you want to stay because it's close to the pier and you're not staying long. read more
