SO happy that we stopped in after visiting The Met Cloisters. The vibe is so cute, love the decor. The service was A1, both of our servers were so friendly and welcoming. They have a great happy hour menu! I thought the food would be on the smaller portion side but trust me, they give you plenty of food. We ordered 4 dishes (had lots of leftovers lol) and all of them were excellent . The quesadillas were actually the highlight, which I didn't expect. I love how the owners put a lot of their heritage and memories of their lives into the design of this place. Wasn't there in time for happy hour but I was so impressed by that menu. Insane prices, the HH food options sounded really good and I loved how they had a cocktail pitcher option to share with friends. The pineapple Moscow mule sounded tasty! To start off our meal, we ordered some specialty cocktails. For me the Laguna Rosa (with no jalapeño juice) and for my friend the El Tigre. Both were so pretty! I loved mine, though I thought it had a little too much "volcanic salt" around the glass. It ended up just getting everywhere and all over my hands. For appetizers we had Camaron en Agua Chile, Pechito de vaca yakitori and pasteles de masa rellenos de jaiba. My favorite was the yakitori, think Korean bbq beef, so good!! For mains we got Pargo Frito, a whole fish that came out for you to see it, then had the meat ripped of it in front of you by your server with gloves. We asked for a regular mojito and margarita, both of which were very good. A vodka martini was a bit disappointing, tiny olives, a pick that was too small that allowed the plastic tip to fall into the drink. Unacceptable. It was flavorless. Perhaps their house cocktails are better prepared. The food was much better. Pastels de masa rellenos is flavorful, didn't expect to have the bone in the pastel. Churrasco was flavorful with a good presentation and vegetables in an asian style sauce. The chicharrones were all about presentation. Although the flavors were good, not spectacular. The restaurant looks well kept. It's clean, has an outdoor eating area. The inside is quite small as far as seating. Went here to grab something quick on the way home (not from this area). I ordered 2 appetizers of empanadas (6 total) they were about half the size of regular/average ones and costed $26 for everything in total. I felt it was overpriced, but didn't really have time to stop elsewhere. The waitress was rude once we said we were ordering to go. Everything was funny and a joke to her when she could see we clearly were in a bit of a hurry and we were agitated by how rather than taking the order seriously, she kept getting it wrong and laughing. We were literally only ordering empanadas???!!!! We repeated our order to her multiple times in english and spanish and she still got it wrong. She stated we couldn't mix the empanadas meaning we couldn't order some beef some chicken, we had to only order one, so we did. As we were eating them (later in the car) we found some were beef some were chicken and some were cheese. So while she made it a point to tell us we couldn't mix them, we didn't even get what we ordered. Once our food was ready about 20 min later (only 6 empanadas), the same waitress was swinging the bag around taking her time looking for a stapler rather than just giving us the bag after we voiced we were in a rush and were visibly aggravated at this point due to the struggle of trying to just order our food and her repeatedly reading the order back to us wrong. Definitely never going back. It was an unnecessary aggravating situation for six empanadas. read more

It's honestly unfortunate that I even have to write a review like this because I was looking forward to celebrating my birthday and Father's Day at this establishment with my family. On 6/9, I made a reservation for a party of 5 on 6/18. on 6/17, I received a text from the establishment asking me to confirm my reservation for the following day, to which I did and received a, "Thanks! You're confirmed. See you soon." Furthermore, my sister called the morning of the 18th to add an additional seat to the reservation and was told that they were looking forward to seeing us later on that day. My brother arrives to the restaurant and is told that my name is not on the reservation list. I arrive five minutes later and I'm told the same thing. I show her my text message and she says that they have been having issues with online reservations. My sister tells the waitress that she had called earlier that morning to add a seat to the reservation and was told all was well, and the waitress states that the name appears on a book that she had in her hand, however it had been crossed out as if my sister called to cancel. I ask where is the manager, and there's no response from the waitress. Instead she tells me to give her a moment and she will try to make something work although it was difficult because the place was booked. I will say this, the waitress was very nice and respectful and I could tell that she was genuinely not only stressed but also apologetic that something like this happened. We waited about half an hr as she mentioned there was a party of 10 who should be done with their food shortly and we could possibly have their spot. She eventually comes back apologetically saying that the party is taking longer than intended and it wasn't looking good. I ask to speak to the manager and she says, "he's not here". I honestly do not believe this because I observed there were moments where she would go debrief with a man who appeared to be a manager because I overheard when he would ask about other reservations as people showed up and I also watched how he watched me and my family members standing like disappointed fools from the inside. I honestly believe he had this waitress deal with us because he didn't want to be bothered. Long story short after a total of almost an hr, the waitress came back stating that they won't be able to accomodate us but by then we had booked a reservation elsewhere. I say this all to say that my frustration and disappointment is not with the waitress because she did her part, in fact, I don't believe she should have had to deal with this. My frustration and disappointment stems from the fact that there should've been a manager on site, or a manager willing to back up his employee and not hide behind a glass window. My disappointment and frustration stems from the fact that there also should've been a manager available to come and genuinely apologize to my family and I for THEIR mistake/ negligence and find a way to either rectify the situation, or offer us an opportunity to return and be able to experience what we couldn't experience on a very special day. My recommendation is that they fix their online reservation system (if there ever was an issue) to avoid this issue from occurring with other customers. read more
