I went for Saturday birthday brunch on a rainy day and it was a fun time! We got the unlimited brunch drinks with an entree and dessert for $36. This is a really great deal considering unlimited drinks are usually $36 just by themselves. They offer bottomless mimosas, white sangria, red sangria and margaritas. They also mix flavors too so I ended up getting a passionfruit mimosa which was really yummy. The bartender/waiter was a mood and made the birthday celebrations even more fun. They mostly play Spanish music so we all had a good time. They have an upstairs and downstairs but we stayed downstairs next to the swing! We ordered the chicken & waffles and the French toast. We also had the flan and Churros. I was not a big fan of the desserts. All the food had flavor and was well seasoned (7/10) but the portion sizes were a bit small especially considering all the drinks that are flowing. I stopped by on Saturday afternoon with a friend for some lunch and drinks. Overall I had a good time, the place itself is very cute and trendy. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day. They start you off with yummy tajin popcorn. Then we got the guac and chips, very tasty and fresh. For drinks I got a skinny margarita. It was pretty strong, they didn't have their hibiscus or spicy margarita available which was a bit disappointing. For entrees I went with the Al pastor chicken tacos and my friend went with the flautas. Both dishes were delicious. My chicken was so flavorful and the pineapple was perfectly sweet. For 4 drinks, 2 entrees, and an app our total was about $150 with gratuity included. The service was really good, the waitress kept on checking in. They also have hookah for those who like that. We placed our food and drink order and thought we were set. During HH their margaritas and sangrias are $7. I had a coconut frozen margarita which was ok. Not really frozen, within minutes the entire cup was liquid. My friend had the white sangria which was really good..... strong and not too sweet. Our hookah followed. The hookah guy started it up and realized there was too much water so he took it back to fix it. At this point it's been about 30mins since we've been seated. My food comes out. I ordered the Mama Tacos with Birria and an order of chicken wings. We're smoking hookah, drinking and I'm eating then I realize my friend still hasn't got her food. We flag down our waitress and ask where her food is. She says she doesn't understand because her English isn't good and sends over another waitress. We tell the new waitress we're still waiting for her order, she's asks what she ordered and we tell her a Veggie Quesadilla and Cauliflower Tacos. Which really should've come out before mine being that there's no meat involved. She then states she'll place the order. I'm confused and tell her we already placed the order. She tells me it was never placed. Huh? Now I ask to speak to a manger because clearly we placed the order... The manager who was very nice comes over and explains due to the original waitresses language barrier she never placed the order. WHAT?! My friend actually pointed to the menu items she wanted. We watched the waitress write it down, but let's say something was lost in translation.... You don't try to correct it? She was suppose to not eat and just sit and wait for nothing? There's a reason why I do not patronize businesses within Dyckman / Washington Heights. Unless you speak a certain language the service is typically subpar which is very unfortunate. I'm surprised this place doesn't have any reviews yet because Mama Taco is AMAZING! Everything from the service to the food is spot on. They serve complementary popcorn that is seasoned with chili and lime -- SO GOOD! This definitely set the tone for everything else to come. I started with the strawberry lemon agua Fresca. This drink had so much depth of flavor, soaked with fresh strawberries and hints of aromatics like thyme. This is a must have! The burrito was also very tasty and filling! Came here for a nice Saturday evening date and the ambience was amazing. Small location with outdoor seating includes an open indoor and upstairs seating. Decorations were so cute and gave the spot a cozy setting to relax and chill. The margaritas were delicious, perfect oomph to them. I highly recommend the wings with Chipotle Guava sauce. At first I was skeptical but as the picky eater I am, sauce was amazing! The Tinga Tacos were delicious (wish the onions were chopped smaller though) other than that I ate all 3 of them . They play their music at full volume so this definitely isn't the place to play catch up with anyone. They have a decent-sized cocktail list; some come in a cute sugar skull glass pictured below. From their name, tacos are obviously their specialty. We ordered the chicken tinga and al pastor tacos, along with a Birria beef quesadilla. All the food was delicious and came out hot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I was worried that the service would be slow because of how busy they were but it was quite the opposite. We came here as a group of 40 on a Wednesday while taking a break from my grandmother's funeral across the street. I actually felt bad for the as I know it was unusual to have such a huge group at any time let a lone a Wednesday. I visited Mama Taco this past Saturday afternoon with a friend and it was amazing! It was pretty empty so I really liked that and the service was good. I ordered the Chicken Flautas (my favorite) and it DID NOT disappoint. 10/10 for those. The guac & chips were good but the chips were a little plain to me, still great tho. I used to like this place. I would go to the comedy show once a month in their little upstairs nook. The waitresses were attentive and the food was good. I recommended this place and even got some people to join me several times. But that is no longer the case. When I last went, I was there two hours and wait staff never came to my table to ask what I would like to order. The music is so loud that I could not converse with others. The time before, my food order was congealed by the time they served it to me. For health reasons I must avoid alcohol and sugar. But they don't have non alcoholic beer. On a previous visit when I tried to communicate with the waiter what I needed, he served me soda. For the first year after I discovered this place, and would then visit at least once a month, the service was good. I would usually tip at least 30%. But now they make no effort to communicate with me in English and it seems like they are trying to drive me away. Poor service or even no service, cold food, extra loud music. I don't know if there was a management change, but I will no longer recommend this establishment to others. read more

My steak was not fresh at all: it was gray and not seasoned well and just generally not great, but I didn't make a big deal out of it. Service was slow even though we were one of three groups seated?
