Cozy spot right off dyckman with strong drinks and delicious tapas. Our server was sooo sweet and attentive all night, and made sure we took advantage of their happy hour (5-8). The place was pretty empty Friday around 6pm but got super packed around 8/9. I loved the Mora margarita and the Canelazo, which comes with freshly lit palo santo and a sprinkle of bee pollen on top. what a NYC GEM. get out of midtown and head uptown to fito. it's where spain meets france istg. one man was running the cozy spot and it both felt like i was in europe on the coast somewhere in someone's home and in an upscale private room where i wont be bothered. even in the cold weather, they make it perfect inside. coat check, an aesthetic bar, and intricate tables that just barely fit everything you'll order. and the food was phenomenal. the octopus was seared perfectly and my steak was exactly medium. i love that their yuca fries are thinner because im not a fan of a steak fry cut. wish i had room for something sweet but guess ill have to come back real soon :) read more

I'm super disappointed in myself for just leaving a review for this uptown treasure because I've eaten here so many times, and it has always been good. I literally waited outside once for an hour for it to open for Brunch. That's how good. However, I must leave a review because this place keeps coming through for me. I've recently decided to act like my stomach is 44 years in the game, and give up bodega bags of trash snacks for good. My tummy and my head can't take it. #junkfoodhangover As a result I have no easy sweets in my house. New rule, either I make it or I have to eat it outside the house. Now I called this a post dinner walk when I started the evening because who couldn't use one of those, but if I'm being honest, I really needed something sweet. Fast forward, walking through my neighborhood, stopping by ole faithful Baskin Robbin, and they didn't have Daiquiri Ice #IYKYK which is honestly the only Baskin flavor for summer. So I'm headed home and I happen upon Fiti, which always calls to me because it's a vibe from the sidewalk. Good music coming out the door (Take on Me currently being sung by an attractive set of humans at and behind the bar), intimate. I walk by because I already ate dinner but remember their vegan chocolate ganache which is heavenly. I turn back to see if it's still on the menu. It is. And it's BETTER than before (where they do that at). They've added black salt atop the whip cream above the ganache, and you are talking about one delicious cup of chocolatey sweetness. $8 for this decadent treat. I love it here. I only came for a drink, so I can't say anything about their food. The place is tiny, and if you're sitting by the bar, it's tight. Get a table, if you can. I was unlucky to pic the bar stool by the live performer, who was so loud I couldn't hear anything my friend was saying an inch away from my ear. It wasn't pleasant. The place is small, so there's no need to blast music so high they can hear it from the Cloisters. Prices are a tad high. read more

The cooking and service were ok. The chicken in the El Pollo de mi Abuela was fairly dry, and the yucca had a lot more dairy than I was expecting, but the flavors overall were good. One thing I didn't like is that they served a whole half chicken and you had to break it down yourself. It makes eating a lot messier. We also got the choripán and pulpo. The choripán is a little pricey for what you get but bread was buttery and the chorizo had good flavor. Pulpo is done better at other places I've been but it certainly is solid. There were flies buzzing around us since the doors were open. It doesn't seem like they have air conditioning here, so keep that in mind. read more

A tiny dimly lit chilled clandestine atmosphere. We loved it. We ate Burrata and the plant based empanadas. Both were delicious and enough to finish off the progressive dining evening. Stop number 3. The Martini del sur was fantastic, so good I had two, chamomile infused vodka with a smidge of sherry and a few other ingredients that turned it into magic. I have been here a few times and I have to say. I feel invited to be part of the vibes that resonate in this space. I really appreciate the honey, chill, and artistic vibes of the space. Service is excellent, they are attentive, explain the menu if you have any questions, remind you of happy hour and are very friendly. I see that live music is a thing and I am happy there is a place where you can get that enrichment. Food, yall, bomb as fuck. They have gluten free and vegetarian options. I was doubtful of my quinoa bowl and I have to say that shit was bomb. They have a great menu which isn't long and food comes out quickly. Dining at FITO from the booking on was a pleasure. Felix, the manager, showed true ownership when the online reservation system kept freezing. The next day I added two people too my reservation in the notes and Felix quickly sent me a confirmation. This sense of care was clearly seen by all his staff as well. When I arrived, I added another two people on and the host quickly moved tables and umbrellas around to accommodate my request. He worked with on the best way to do billing for a large party gave attentive service all while seating people and acting as the host. Felix personally made and delivered our drinks. All the food and drinks were delicious. They truly existed to make my night easier, which is huge when organizing and hosting a large group. There aren't many places in the area that make you feel like you belong and you matter and Fito does that and more! read more

I was searching for a new restaurant in Inwood, and I came across Fito. The reviews were good and the pictures looked inviting. I entered the small yet cozy restaurant and was greeted kindly by the waiter. I was seated at what I thought was the best table, right by the window on the side of the bar, and reviewed the simple yet interesting menu. It was hard to choose, but I ordered the salmon. I am reluctant to order salmon unless I am traveling to locations where it is fresh, however, I must say that this was the best salmon I've had in a long time. It was fresh, cooked perfectly, and had subtle flavors. I ordered the old-fashioned, and I'm a bit of a snob about my cocktails, however, this was quite good. Very nice atmosphere with excellent lighting, which is rare these days! The candle on the table was real as well, another rarity. I must also mention the music. A little loud, but fine. And quite interesting. They played electronica, and Depeche Mode and Erasure! What? In Inwood?? I'm a fan. We definitely return to explore the menu further. read more

Of our two cocktails, one was quite good (if a smidge overpowered by the chinotto) and the other, the highly original Canelazo, absolutely transported me. So happy to have Fito in the 'hood. I absolutely loved the chill vibes and the simple rotating menu that packs a punch. Today is day 4! They will add dessert, more vermouth, and a happy hour next week, so I will surely be back. The place is small, but has a similar set up as it's predecessor; you'll be in good cozy company. Owner is nice and behind the bar whipping up cocktails. They start you off with mixed olives. Your girl can't have them, but they were a hit with others. For cocktails, my table of three had the Mofito, Patagonia Cobbler, Emperor's Wish, and veered off menu with a straight vermouth. All of the cocktails tasted fresh, delicious, and inventive. For food we opted for the ole pizette (filling!), deviled eggs (3 pieces, my friend was a fan), Yapingacho (potato pancake--a fine size for a small plate and good vegan option sans egg), ceviche (friend rated 5 stars), and the pan con tomate (good but could use more salt). Great new place with an intimate setting. My husband and I were walking around and saw how cute it looked here, so we came in. We both ordered the mofito ($9 for happy hour) and it was so good (would have ordered another round if we didn't have work tomorrow!) The burrata, olé pizzette, choripán and chicharrón were all delicious (although the chicharrón took a little long and was hard to cut through the skin- but still good!) However, the pulpito was the winner for us! So tender and delicious. We over-ordered, but wanted to try everything since the menu looked so good. All the food and drink was great, staff was friendly and setting was romantic/intimate with several people at the bar and some at the small tables. This is definitely a great place! Fito's success shows that we critically needed art vibes, good people, and healthy, tasty food in this neighborhood, not just burritos and margaritas. This place is becoming our local bodega, the one and only place where a community of artistic minds, teachers, and social workers love to hang out to gather and speak about everything and anything. Cocktails from Felix, the owner, had already made the reputation of his place from day 1, but some of his more recent bartenders like Manuel deserve their bunch of applauses as well for the creativity and taste in every cocktail making. The food has all price levels and speaks to many palates with entry-level pizzas at 10 USD on happy hours that have a perfect real Italian homemade crust, distinct from the greasy ones you found in many pizza places in New York. The ceviche is to die for. And the quinoa salad just melts under your tongue and your body will only thank you for eating it. But more important, there is a warm, human atmosphere there that you can't find in many other New York venues, created by all staff involved. It makes this place unique and sophisticated, with that little ounce of nonchalance that lightens up the bohemian spirit in all of us.
