Came here for Happy Hour with a large group of friends, and we took over the place. The space was small and cozy with colorful, cheerful decor with royal blue and yellow color schemes, and books all around. I ordered the Italian Sandwich from the Happy Hour menu, which was $12. This also came with fries, which was a nice surprise. The Italian sandwich consisted of salame piccante, bresaola, mortadella, prosciutto cotto, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, as well as olive oil. The bread was nice and soft, while the ingredients were well seasoned and came together beautifully. Fries were thick cut and satisfyingly crunchy, full of potato goodness. Service was good, but a little slow. There was only 1 person taking orders and he was very friendly and was able to provide separate checks, which was impressive. Prices were reasonable as well, even on the regular menu. I would definitely return to try the Steak, Branzino Del Meditarraneo, and the El Tanque Platter (to be shared with 3-4 people). read more

I tried this place for the first time. The service was good. Attentive. I tried the Pizza Bianca it was yummy. I wish it was a little hotter but it was good. I tried the bread pudding dessert w ice cream it was delicious there was a nice crowd and music playing but you were still able to have a conversation. I don't always experience great food and great service and decor in the same place so wanted to share this hidden gem in the hopes they do well. But not toooo well I want to be able to get in. El Tanque is located in Inwood and has mainly italian food with a Dominican twist. They do weekday happy hour till 7pm in restaurant, 9pm in the bar on food and drink. I had two pizzas which were light and delicious and a sangria and limoncello spritz I will make sure to order again. While the bartender wasn't aware of our 16-person reservation, he let on no surprise or annoyance. Instead, he jumped into action and came up with a plan even if it meant him having to juggle 16 people's orders on his own. He was never rude or let on any kind of attitude. He was patient as people reviewed the menu and truly made us all feel taken care of. We ended up staying long past happy hour. He knew what each person had and even let us all pay separately! Unheard of! I have sent friends since then and they all have commented on how hard the staff works and how much they clearly want to please. My friend is librarian and fell in love with the decor. There are so many small touches you can tell the owners took their time to make this neighborhood restaurant just right. It is one of my new favorites and I can't wait to go back!
