When the server said sushi comes with soy and spicy mayo sauce I had no idea he meant there's sauce on every roll. The food was damn near soaked in sauce. The only thing you could taste was soy and spicy mayo. What's not advertised is the option to rent hookah in the restaurant. Hookah. It's incredibly loud with a DJ in main bar. They don't even offer wasabi for the sushi :( Here it is all about vibes...It's definitely the spot if you're looking to break out of a boring routine. The energy here is fast-paced and lively, which is great, but be prepared for some very uncomfortable tight quarters. I wanted to go to the Budda Kitchen & Bar because of all the hype on Instagram. I guess when we went ot was a slow night. The Happy Hour drinks were weak, my steak tacos were overcooked and dry. The vibes here are the best in all of uptown. I hope they never change this place because it's the most fun I've had up here. The workers are so patient, funny and helpful. They recommended great dishes and took their time with us. I ended up staying longer than I wanted because I kept ordering hookah. Usually I don't but their hookah was great and worth the money. The food was amazing. Their sushi has their own twist but it makes sense and I almost wanted to ask them what exactly was in it. Amazing drinks and overall the prices were SUPER reasonable. I came here for happy hour and had a mixed experience. Drinks: * I ordered a margarita on the rocks. It was okay--not great, but it got the job done. * The frozen passionfruit margarita? A huge miss. You could see the syrup wasn't even blended properly, and they went way overboard with it. Food: * I specifically asked for extra crispy wings, but they were far from crispy and had zero seasoning. It tasted like plain chicken with hot sauce poured on top. * The rock shrimp was much better! Crunchy, with a sweet chili flavor that was more sweet than spicy. Even if you don't like spice, you'll enjoy this. Atmosphere: The DJ was definitely the highlight of the night--great vibe and energy. Only been open for about 7 months but Its small and intimate setting makes it the perfect place to come by yourself or party it up with your friends. They offer a happy hour that lasts from 4-10 and has great options from $8 cocktails and $8 appetizers. I got the guava margarita, chicken tacos and the rock shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce. The guava margarita a 10/10! The flavor wasn't too sweet and blended well with the tequila. It wasn't just a syrup bottom where I had to mix the drink, as they shook that bad boy up in the shaker and poured a juicy margarita that had me feeling like I was in the tropics. The chicken tacos were good but I'll give them a 6/10. They came in a hard shell that was too hard and some parts tasted stale. The chicken was juicy and tender and blended well with the sauces and vegetables they had in it. The Rock Shrimp was to die for! The sweet chili sauce was a great mix of sweet and spicy and with every bite you could you just wanted more. The crunch on the shrimp was perfect and it was so juicy which made it even more delectable. This place is a 9/10 for me! read more
