It is the "go-to" when you don't want to be disappointed. Tonight it was Market Fish. I was impressed to find PEACH STAND RAMBLER ale on draft, by Odell Brewing Company. Bravo! Service provided by Lindsey, she's a gem.

So very disappointed with service, marketing, and meal. I came from California and wanted to have…read moresomething nice and unique. The menu online looks spectacular and had a lot of interesting dishes. I was super excited. I saw that they were open late and I was also very happy about this because my meal was after work. I arrived at 9:30 walked in the side entrance and saw a post hunched over and squatted down, looking at her iPhone. I also saw another employee leaning on the host stand talking to her. He didn't greet me neither did she until I walked to the front of the house stand. She got up from her crouch position and said can I help you? I was surprised to see what she was wearing, an oversized hoodie with some type of logo on it, which was not an appropriate thing to wear, and it did not match the other employee that were more crisp. I said dining for one and grabbed a menu and slid it across the host stand out of pure laziness. She slumped her way over with the menu hanging on her left side and sat me at a table. Wow what a lousy first impression for a restaurant that I was so excited to visit. A server came over gave me a menu and brought me water. Disappointed to see that the menu was completely different from the menu that I saw online. No unique dishes and the variety was not great. However, I was there and felt I'd give it a chance. A server that was at the bar entering tickets or something, kept looking over at my table, but no one ever acknowledged me after I was seated. I waited for about 10 minutes until someone realized I need assistance. The server finally came over. He was polite to check my order served my meal left me to be on my own to check on me one time, but it certainly wasn't a two minute check when he should to see if my meal was to my satisfaction. My plates were not cleared and I had to ask for the check.. the food was OK. I had the salmon. Nothing spectacular. risotto was uneventful. Got my check and left. No goodbye, no thank you for coming in no stand out service. As a restaurant professional in California, I can't figure out if it's just a Texas thing or they rate everything high or this restaurant truly is deserving of its accolades..

If you find yourself in the city of Laredo, Texas and hungry for delicious Mexican style seafood…read moreand sushi, you are in the right place. Being a border city to Mexico, Laredo has it's share of great seafood restaurants and La Laguna Mariscos sure has a spotlight on them. Not too long ago I came with a friend for ceviche de camarones (Shrimp Ceviche) and boy were we in for a surprise. The ceviche was well served combined with spicy prepared cucumber slices and of course tasty. The quality on this dish is great and recommend two people sharing this because of the portion size. Unless you are very hungry then go ahead.. Lol, I on the other hand ordered their Avocado Sushi roll and enjoyed this dish. The roll had a yummy fresh taste to it and had just the right amount of avocado on the roll. This avocado roll came with a side of crab salad, Tampico and fried rice. Just great. Price was decent and overall satisfied with the food. What I liked about the restaurant is that the ambiance is so vibrant and full of life. I believe they have live music on the weekends and let me tell you, salsa music at La Laguna is spicy! ay ay ay! Therefore, I would also like to suggest to the owner that management should be on top of their servers at all times. In fact, management should be on top of their servers and customers. That Saturday I went to dine at La Laguna took almost 26 minutes for us to get our orders in to our server. I understand that businesses can be very busy, specially on a Saturday night, but these small details make a big difference. The restaurant is very neat and clean. Servers are friendly and love that they even suggest good dishes from the menu. Thanks guys!

Terrible, apathetic service ruin a otherwise good meal. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!…read moreVisiting Laredo from San Antonio and hearing of the hoopla surrounding the opening of La Laguna near The Rim in SA, I had high hopes of eating at this Ldo location. I've visited La Laguna several times in my past Laredo trips, most recent in February, and have seen the decline in service and quality of experience over these visits. On this visit during a steady Sunday night (not busy, just steady) the server wore her mask under her nose while she randomly walked up to our table of four and muttered "Drinks." No hello, introduction, name, or welcome... Just "Drinks" Four waters ordered, four bottles of HILL COUNTRY bottle water dropped off at the table with chips and 2 sauces. We were still looking over the menu so asked for a minute... 15 mins later she returns to rudely take our order, "What do you want." We order then asked for more chips and she said ok. After 12 mins of waiting for chips I went to the front to tell a guy that our service was terrible as the server disappeared. He asked another server to take us chips, which came out promptly. Maybe 5 mins later the first plate of food is brought out. Seven mins later 2 more plates of food are brought out. The server asks if everything looks good and I ask about my plate, she looks at me like i was crazy for asking for food at a restaurant then asks what I ordered. I look at her amazed that she didn't realize an entire plate of food is missing. She checks her pad and disappears for over 10 minutes. Another person brings out the plate. It took over 30 minutes for my food to come out!!! Which tells me she forgot to put in my food order. We were never checked on and had to go up and ask for utensils, condiments, straws, etc... I thought of complaining again but the front desk didn't care the first time I complained to correct the server's apathetic attitude. When the bill came out, we were charged $2 for each HILL COUNTRY bottle of water!!! This place is a RIP off and a joke! I'm not one to rant and complain but this was the last straw. The manager removed the waters and we were charged for the food, which is perfect. I will never return to La Laguna nor recommend it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
