We tried to get reservations at the Tack Room but they didn't reach back out to us. Panicking, I did some further research and found this place being right next to our work station. Some co-workers heard great things about this spot so I stopped in here and attempted to make a reservation for 7 of us. Fortunately they were able to fit us in here on a Thursday night for a work-group dinner. First, the interior of the restaurant is clean, bright, and inviting. The bar area looks festive with the displays of liquor and wine options. Tables can be easily assembled to accommodate larger parties. And it's a semi-open kitchen where you can see the dishes being presented for serving. It does it get loud depending on the crowd. Upon seating, we realized there was another work-party dinner AND a graduation dinner happening around us so servers were running around left and right for us all. Speaking of service, they are attentive and they did the best they could with the large parties. We got our drinks in a timely manner for the most part. There was some communication issues as a few people ordered beers but got iced tea instead; weird. We mentioned beer again but used the term 'cerveza' which they responded promptly to. So maybe that's the secret word when ordering beer here. Since they have a large wine selection, I started with a glass of Picket Fence Pinot Noir before switching to the Ferrari Sauvignon Blanc. Both excellent choices! Now for food, they have an extensive menu of appetizers, burgers/sands, pizza, and 18 different entree items. I went with the pork chop w/ the gnocchi and pecan pesto. Several others ordered the smoked cornish hen. We also had another order the herb crusted salmon w/ risotto and yogurt sauce. A couple others did the Gulf Shrimp Carbonara and Chicken alfredo. We all enjoyed our dishes; the pork chop was quite tender and the gnocchi w/ pesto had nice flavor and complimented the protein. The cornish hen was tasty although a bit dry according to those who ordered it although they loved the au gratin potatoes that were served with it. The salmon and pasta dishes were enjoyed by the recipients who finished them clean. Overall, we had a solid meal here and will likely return for another team dinner should we be in Laredo. Props to the staff for accommodating us last minute!

What a find! We wanted some pizza and found surprisingly few options so settled on Border Foundry and we definitely did not settle. This place is cool and the food delicious. We sat at the bar and Omar was our bartender. He was friendly and helped us make our decisions. He was also quick with drinks and super nice. Thanks Omar. If you find yourself in Laredo there is at least one good pizza place. They also have a lot of other choices that aren't pizza.

I was a little disappointed my second visit to this restaurant. The menu did not say the scallops were going to be wrapped in bacon. When they came out and I told the server I couldn't eat bacon he just shrugged and made no effort to remedy the situation for this pescatarian. I cannot have bacon and so I could not partake in that dish. It kind of seemed that the server did not understand what my complain was as he smiled when he talked it us but then he didn't seem to comprehend what I was saying. My friend had cranberry juice and when they offered her refills she assumed it was like ordering a fountain soda and the refills were complimentary. Imagine her surprise when the bill came and her beverage was $7.50! For the cost of lunch at this business I expect service to be a little more on point. Hopefully they can have a conversation with their servers to ensure customers have a better experience in the future.

I travel for work so Laredo is a frequent stop for me. This was my first time trying Border Foundry as it was highly recommended by multiple people and it's also listed as one of the most expensive restaurants in Laredo, not sure if that means anything. My entire meal was $75 which I think it's fairly standard for a meal this size and what would be expected of this time of restaurant. My order consisted of a wedge salad to start followed by the rack of lamb for my entree and ending the evening with the Carajillo cake. I accompanied my meal with a glass of Malbec and later Cabernet. The first thing I noticed was that my wine was brought out with a glass of ice water with a lemon. Wine should be served with room temperature water without lemon. Onto the salad: it was okay, not too much flavor in the dressing which was disappointing as wedge salads are my favorite. The rack of lamb was also just okay. The sauce lacked flavor again. At least the lamb was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The carajillo cake was the saving grace of this night. This dessert that has multiple layers of flavor really was worth the wait and the calories. Perhaps this was an off night but if I do decide to try this place again I hope I can update my review with a more favorable experience.

First time visitor to the Border Foundry restaurant this evening but also likely the last time due to disappointing food and quality of service. I was visiting Laredo on travel with a large group and was drawn to the restaurant by the rave reviews but left the restaurant hungry and dissatisfied due to multiple mix-ups by the kitchen staff. After hearing from my waiter Armando that quite a few entrees not available off the menu, I settled on a Huitlacoche tenderloin. I ordered the steak medallions medium well without mushrooms due to an allergy issue but received my original plate with the steak cooked closer to medium, still bloody. After sending the steak back to get touched up to my requested level, the plate then returned roughly 20 minutes later after the rest of my party was already done eating. The 2nd steak was this time burnt and charred on the outside and the risotto infused with mushrooms this time. I tried a few bites of just the steak but was completely turned off by the burnt flavor. The waiter Armando never returned to see how the meal was after the 1st mixup and appeared to not even care that my plate was barely touched the 2nd time as he quickly cleared it off the table. I even as I tried to talk to him about the failed meal but he ignored my complaints and walked away while I was talking. I know mistakes happen but this kitchen and waitstaff failed in their acknowledgment of the mistake and trying to ensure their customers happiness. Try at your own risk....

The prices here are reasonable compared to Houston or Dallas, for example, but most everything is a la carte, so you can spend a lot quickly if not careful. My eyes were set on the seabass ceviche, so I know I had to have that. I also wanted a cocktail, but I remembered I had a long drive ahead of me, so I just opted for more food instead. I ordered the corn flake fried chicken sandwich. Ceviche - a nicely sized portion that comes with 2 crispy tortillas. Inside the ceviche are finely diced carrots, red onions and cucumbers, cilantro, sliced avocado, and numerous pieces of diced fish and lime juice at the bottom. 5/5 Chicken sandwich - served on a plate with 2 sliced yellow cherry tomatoes sitting face down. This has a large breast, with pickles and cole slaw. 3/5 This is my kinda place, and it seems fairly unusual to find a restaurant like this in Laredo of all places. I would definitely come back on my next visit to Laredo.

I've visited La Laguna several times in my past Laredo trips, most recent in February, and have seen the decline in service and quality of experience over these visits. On this visit during a steady Sunday night (not busy, just steady) the server wore her mask under her nose while she randomly walked up to our table of four and muttered "Drinks." No hello, introduction, name, or welcome... Just "Drinks" Four waters ordered, four bottles of HILL COUNTRY bottle water dropped off at the table with chips and 2 sauces. We were still looking over the menu so asked for a minute... 15 mins later she returns to rudely take our order, "What do you want." We order then asked for more chips and she said ok. After 12 mins of waiting for chips I went to the front to tell a guy that our service was terrible as the server disappeared. He asked another server to take us chips, which came out promptly. Maybe 5 mins later the first plate of food is brought out. Seven mins later 2 more plates of food are brought out. The server asks if everything looks good and I ask about my plate, she looks at me like i was crazy for asking for food at a restaurant then asks what I ordered. I look at her amazed that she didn't realize an entire plate of food is missing. She checks her pad and disappears for over 10 minutes. Another person brings out the plate. It took over 30 minutes for my food to come out!!! Which tells me she forgot to put in my food order. We were never checked on and had to go up and ask for utensils, condiments, straws, etc... I thought of complaining again but the front desk didn't care the first time I complained to correct the server's apathetic attitude. When the bill came out, we were charged $2 for each HILL COUNTRY bottle of water!!! This place is a RIP off and a joke! I'm not one to rant and complain but this was the last straw. The manager removed the waters and we were charged for the food, which is perfect. I will never return to La Laguna nor recommend it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

The inside is whatever there's nothing special about it looks like any other place. Our waiter was so nice. He went above and beyond for us. We started with the escargot and I have to say it was OK. It was a little bland. It definitely was missing more flavor to it and it was weird that it didn't come with bread or anything. We also got the tuetano with beef tartar on top of it. It was a huge disappointment. The bone had not been cooked completely and was very fiber and the beef tartar just tasted really off pudding just like raw meat instead of it bean seasoned and marinated the way it should be. We had to send it back for it to get cooked for the bone and when they brought it back, it was still the same thing so they ended up removing it from our check. After this, I did get a cup of the asparagus soup and I have to say that was really nice. Then I got the American ribeye since they were out of the Argentina ribeye which is a disappointment. I had asked for a medium. It came cooked more than medium and it was weird how light colored it was and it just tasted like a typical steak nothing really special to it. The baked potato was whatever. Now the portobello mushrooms and wine sauce that was really delicious. I don't think I would come back here just cause there was nothing really special about it. Also, I hate to say this, but I did eat a little bit of that beef tartar to try it and I'm assuming that's what upset my stomach cause the next day, I was not well.

Servers are friendly and well dressed, this is a high end spot. Table bread was good, came with chimmichurri and butter, it was good. So good in fact that they asked me if I wanted another bread, and I said of course. What they failed to mention is that they charged $5 for the bread, wasn't expecting that at all. No one advised me of that but alright. We ordered a shrimp with oil dish, cooked in a cast iron, this was outstanding! Great flavor, came with 6 pieces of shrimp and came out on a hot cast iron pan. Highly recommend. I ordered a 15 oz picahna and my wife ordered 12 oz American ribeye. The ribeye was thin, but cooked well. However they failed to season the steak. The picahna was cooked okay, also poorly seasoned. When you think of picahna , you think of the fat cap, tell me why my picahna did not have any fat cap on it? They carved out the fat! I mean cmon man, you're an Argentinian steakhouse and you do that, that is blasphemy. Then they cut my steak, let it bleed out on the plate. Is this their first time or what? Leave the steak whole, like my wife's ribeye. The second saddest steak I've eaten. The worst one was a ribeye I had at Otillias. Steak came with steak fries and they were okay. My wife's baked potato wasn't fully cooked either Overall this place missed the mark and for paying $115 for two people before tip, you're better off grilling your own steaks for a lot less. I paid $40 for the picahna and $39 for my wife's steak. I wanted to give this place 3 stars but that bs bread move left me upset. I honestly think if you're looking for a decent steak, save yourself some money and go to Texas or Longhorns steakhouse.
