This happened in 2015. I purchased a Cardigan Welsh Corgi from a breeder. He was AKC registered. The breeder was a member of the parent club. I came to Cascade to do the puppy shots etc with my pup, Wilbur. The vet that saw him kindly pointed out how inbred he was and to never even consider breeding him. She pointed out he is a special needs baby. I was grateful for the honesty! I 2025 I was informed that that doctor also wrote a scathing letter to AKC that day and the Breed Parent Club about the condition of Wilbur. Because of that letter, the breeder and club received severe discipline from AKC. Wilbur is now 12 and has had a difficult life with Parrott mouth. Thank you for making a difference in the breed! I'm very disappointed in the lack of communication and care that I've received at Cascade. We are kind customers. I understand the vet world is understaffed everywhere right now so we do extend those graces. We were charged $50 for an ear Rx that had less than 1/4 a bottle filled. I found this disconcerting since the instructions from Dr. Maize was to continue for two weeks. We called 3 hours after we got home to report that their did not look enough medicine to last that long and inquire about how to proceed. After speaking with numerous office staff and even Dr. Ball no one could answer if I had a defective bottle or if I should just stop the medication as soon as it runs out. I was supposed to receive a call back but never did from Dr. Maize and she is not in the office a normal Monday through Friday. Dr. Ball approved a refill which would have been okay although it should technically not have been a refill since our bottle was not full to begin with. Dr. Ball wanted to charge another $50 for the medication which was not right. I would like to give kudos to the kind office staff, Mary and to the office manager, Shelly who treated me with respect and had to listen to my long tale. I was not trying to get a free bottle of medicine and I was not angry at anybody I was just hoping for some understanding and clarification about medication volume and what to do if we ran out. I did not receive that from any of the vets. I know 15g is not a lot but the fact that the bottle was practically empty was disconcerting and it would have been great to get some guidance on this. We are also still waiting for test results that were originally supposed to be back in a week. Again, I understand with the pandemic everything takes longer but I was concerned that she was not getting better and were we on the right course if we did not have a diagnosis for her coughing and choking. After leaving a message asking for the vet to call us back and talk us through it we again did not get any further consultation or call back. I have been a loyal customer there for 36 years and I have a college degree with a science biology back ground, so I am capable of understanding the scope of treatment the vets want to perform on my pets. I have given Cascade a 5 star review in the past and I am not a a disgruntled person, I am a 70 year old, who is hard of hearing who speaks loudly, unintentionally sometimes. Well , cascade hospital over sensitive manager feels in a letter I received that I am dissatisfied and displeased with cascade's services and she is suggesting I no longer be their customer as they are unable to retain me as a client. So speaking loudly by a hard of hearing person and asking questions is considered offensive by her, when I only wanted information about the expensive testing and procedures the Drs want to give to my pets. Since the manager wrote this letter to me I can only interpret this as meaning that cascade only wants customers who are quite lambs who say yes, yes, yes, no matter what it might cost you for their expensive services. Don't get me wrong the Doctors at cascade are very good however, I feel they are overzealous sometimes in how they want to set treatments for your pet to get well. Yes, they give the cost you will pay for treatment, but generally inflated and I have become aware that Cascade is now a corporation which operates for increasing profits and so if cascade does not not make profits well, you know what happens. Future and existing customers beware and find a veterinary practice which is not corporate owned and who is understanding of people who are hard of hearing and who are loyal to a senior citizen who was a 36 year customer. My wife and I have been taking our pets here for the last few years and we could not be happier with all of the work that they've done. Like all of you: our pets mean the world to us, so finding the best care possible for their health is obviously a major priority. Last week our pup needed to get a dental procedure that required anesthesia. Greyhounds are known to have issues with anesthesia due to their low body fat, so we had been putting this procedure off for a while due to our worry about this. We asked Doctor Ball what she thought about Chief being put under anesthesia, and she gave us an empathetic, understanding and a clearly very-experienced explanation for the advancements that have been made with greyhound care, and she made us feel much better about the situation. She's certainly the most well-researched and intelligent veterinarians we've ever encountered. We could not feel better knowing that she's taking care of our pets. Chief got the operation, which went off without a hitch and came in at a much more manageable price than we guessed it would have. If you've had a pet get a dental procedure before, you probably know that they almost always "find another problem that requires multiple extractions". But that isn't how Cascade rolls. Doctor Ball kept us posted/relieved throughout the entire day, and let us know that his teeth looked better than we expected they would be going into the procedure and required no extra operations/medicine/time. The entire staff was also great, as they always are, as well. You can tell they care about every pet that the clinic sees. They call to check in on the pet after every procedure. This is how great Cascade's staff is: our pup once had a pretty bad spill/did the splits on a slick floor (assumably hurt some ligaments and muscles). Ever since he's been weird about transparent floors, so much so that if his paws slip on the floor, he won't walk on it at all. Cascade's staff lays out rugs for Chief every time he visits the clinic so that he doesn't become too scared to enter the office or require pushing. I just started taking my boy to Cascade as our old vet was getting insanely priced. We went to establish care and get routine shots. I did have a hard time contacting someone, i didn't want to set an appointment for one thing when i needed both and online it was either "routine care or health concerns". After just picking one i received a call and was able to explain what i needed (maybe user error on my part) they got us in for an appointment quickly and gave us a great estimate for the lump removal. We were told MANY times that this was not an urgent matter if we didn't have the funds. It was very nice change of pace to hear that. We went back recently to get the surgery process started and again were given a quote with options of what they recommended vs what we would have to pay if we moved forward. I never felt pressure to do anything out of our budget and have been treated so well when my pup is a very nervous guy. Very happy to be a patient with them! read more

We took our dog here for 5+ years for his care, including annual checkups. At his establish visit, we gave the clinic his records, showing he had an infected canine tooth removed, which was the result of the moderate damage he received by abuse from his previous owners. At each annual check-up, we made very sure to explain this history to the vet and ask them to check his teeth/mouth to ensure that it didn't need any intervention. All visits indicated that his teeth looked normal and healthy. We then scheduled a teeth cleaning for him because his breath smelled bad. The clinic did all the routine pre-surgical prep and gave us a quote. Several hours into the cleaning, the vet called me and said he had "the worst teeth she has ever seen," and several teeth needed to come out. The cost was about $1200 over the quoted amount. She proceeded to tell us that it was going to take all day and then started to guilt me about how she wouldn't be able to give her techs a lunch that day because of this. We did express the concern about his teeth several times over 5 years, and not a single vet suggested any sort of treatment. We were pretty disappointed and shocked to hear that so many teeth needed to be removed, even though we had done our due diligence to have him checked routinely. Not only that, but to then be made to feel like bad dog owners for letting it get so bad was really unprofessional on the clinic's part. The second incident we experienced ultimately was what made us decide it was time to transfer care. We made appts to get our dog neutered. We took him in for routine blood work and pre-op. During the visit, my husband discussed that he was starting to show signs of a skin rash (he gets these routinely) and was asking about the allergy injections that we had been advised of in a previous visit. The vet had said the allergy injections are every few months depending on the need, and the pre-op proceeded as normal. The vet later called to give us the blood test results and said his liver numbers were elevated and we should do more testing ($300+ more). At this time, I had mentioned to her again that he was experiencing a developing skin rash and asked if that would be the cause of the abnormal blood results. She said no, that would not affect them. We agreed to the further testing, they came back completely normal, and the neuter was scheduled We took him in for the neuter and left. The staff put him under anesthesia and went to shave him and discover that his skin rash was all over his groin area. The vet called me and said they had to cancel the neuter until the infection cleared up. I told her that I had asked about it several times and why wouldn't she had let us know that this was a risk at the time it was discussed, to which she replied "well no one told me or I would have definitely postponed the surgery" (even though she was the person I had spoken to on the phone previously). She said she would usually check the groin area before putting the dog under, but he was "large and very hairy, so it was easier to put him out first before shaving him." Knowing that anesthesia can be a risk to any dog, but especially larger ones, I would think that a vet would check to make sure the surgery could proceed prior to doing this. We then had to do a round of antibiotics and postpone the surgery out one week. I asked the clinic to give me another pre-op pill (the one he is supposed to take the night before surgery) since we had used ours already. We had to pay another $25 for that pill, even though we had already purchased one previously. I'm addition, Cascade is one of the most expensive vets in the area. We are now at another local vet. Their quote for a teeth cleaning was quite literally $550-1000 LESS than what Cascade quoted me (for the lowest and highest part of the possible cost range depending on whether teeth need to be removed). The new vet is also just better. They are working on a long-term plan to treat my dog's skin issues rather than just focusing on whatever current rash he is having. They haven't pushed unnecessary labs on us once The manager of Cascade actually emailed me once she saw we had both of our dogs records transferred elsewhere and asked if there were any concerns and why we were leaving. I responded with everything listed in this review. It's been two weeks, and she hasn't replied at all. So I guess she doesn't really care about our poor experience that much read more

I hate to write a one star, but the way my mom was treated over the phone was unacceptable. My mother and I have been loyal to this vet for over a decade, I always trust my animals in their care, that hasn't changed but whomever took my mother's call today (6/6) really needs a brush up on customer service and to learn a little patience. I understand that the job can be mentally demanding, I understand that you may face many unfriendly calls in a day, but it helps no one when you feel like having an attitude and needing to "take control of the conversation" because she "wasn't listening". Is that how you talk to everyone who's maybe in a panic? Or someone who needs clarification and doesn't want to leave a message for a later appointment because our dogs need to be seen today? I had to move across the country and leave my senior dog with her (chihuahua 16yrs), our other dog that needed to be seen is having a serious allergic reaction and coincidentally, my senior dog is now starting to not want to walk... I'm sure many of us can guess where that leads to. It breaks my heart that I cant be there right now, and it is extremely disappointing that my mother was treated this way today. This place is nothing but frustration, incompetence blanket excused by "hurr, pAnDeMiC", and poor communication. The vets are probably halfway decent, if you can get past the cognitive challenges of the front-office staff. I first scheduled an exam for a new cat here at the end of October. I chose a vet a short drive away because my cat panics and is very uncomfortable during car rides. I had to book almost two months in advance, and took the first appointment offered. The appointment was for 2:30 p.m. on a Friday. I arrived a little before 2:30 and followed their no-contact pandemic instructions: call them, let them know you're there, they'll come get your pet. They came out at 3:30. Yep, an hour late, and my poor kitty was whimpering and miserable. Sat in the car for another hour waiting to get him back. I had ample time to watch walk-in appointments who arrived after me get taken in for immediate service, so I think the lifehack there is "don't bother to make an appointment, just walk in and claim your pet is "sick," and they might have more respect for your time. Around 4, the vet called me, said they'd finished the exam, taken blood and urine, and said she was just going to check his ears. I had a Zoom meeting at 4:30, (which I figured would be perfectly safe, because who's ever at the vet for two hours just for a routine exam?) and didn't make it back home until the meeting was over. At 4:30, two hours after my exam appointment, they brought out my cat, with a bottle of prescription ear medicine and a bill. Blood stained the fur down the entire back of his leg, and the bandage they'd slapped on his leg was already coming off. No explanation of what the vet found during the ear exam, just a $54 bottle of Rx ear drops. I'd followed all the check-in instructions on the website, including bringing a stool sample. They did nothing with the stool sample, despite it being required for a new cat exam, per their website. They'd asked me for prior vet contact information, which I gave them. They told me they'd call Tuesday with lab results. Tuesday came and went; no call. I finally called Thursday. They said the vet would call me back. She finally did EOD Friday, a week after the exam. No specific results, just that his kidneys "aren't in the best shape" and his hyperthyroid meds needed adjustment. I asked for specific results to be emailed. Never happened. They send a helluva lot of spam trying to sell me stuff, but no numbers on his kidneys, no numbers on anything. And they never did anything with the stool sample or the prior vet. Cut to last Thursday, I called my pharmacy to refill the hyperthyroid meds. They called Cascade to renew, because I'd run out of refills. Cascade sat on the renewal for two days, doing nothing. The world's dimmest receptionist or tech called me that Saturday to ask for the prior vet information again, claiming that they never got it. I gave her the old vet's name again. She hung up. Then she must've remembered that she'd originally called to tell me I needed to make an appointment to have my cat's bloodwork done to get the refill, so she called again a couple of hours later. She kept repeating everything I said back to me like she was developmentally delayed. I told her I'd make an appointment, but I cannot and will not tolerate the hour-long wait past my appointment time. I can't afford to burn two hours of my workday (and have my poor, sweet-natured cat sit uncomfortably in the car for that long) for an appointment to draw blood. She gave me a very long-winded, slow, canned speech about how tEh pAnDeMiC basically excuses them from the most basic standards of competence and effective schedule management. I am done hearing this garbage. She whined at me not to interrupt her as she dribbled out this bullsh!+ as slowly as speech can be delivered. I made the appointment just so I could get the refill (I'm never going back to Cascade) and hung up as she repeated the appointment confirmation to me super-slowly a 2nd time. I was beyond done with her. Now that the refill is ready, Imma say a bit about leaning on "b-b-buh COVID" as an excuse for everything from half-assed blood draws, to cruel indifference to a travel-stressed 13-year-old cat's comfort, to a complete cock-up of schedule management, to a smug, passive-aggressive disregard for the value of your clients' time. It's been TWO YEARS. Get your s#!+ together. COVID is no longer a valid excuse for your incompetence and indifference, and I ain't accepting it. Stop taking new patients if you can't schedule them properly and respect their time. No one should EVER be waiting more than 15 minutes past their scheduled appointment, and if they are, it's a sign that YOU are mismanaging your caseloads. It's not COVID, its YOU. read more

We have two dogs that have gone to this clinic. The first suffered from patella luxation and the veterinarian from Cascade said they had to amputate the leg and there was no other solution. Two years later after taking the dog to a specialist he still has all four legs and is as happy as can be. Our second dog went in for some routine shots in the evening. As some of the other posts suggest it is extremely hard to get in and you have to accept a scheduled date and time as chosen by Cascade well in advance. The front desk cashier said they were all done and charged us for the shots and checkup. Immediately after they took payment the vet came out and said our dog was having a severe allergic reaction to the shot and she had to give him a steroid shot. Unfortunately, for our family and dog the clinic was closing for the night so they could not do anything for us but highly suggested we take our dog to an emergency clinic to be monitored. After this last incident I cannot in good conscience return to this animal hospital. read more

We have consistently had to wait over 30 minutes every single time we check in and that is on a good day, they are booking months out but are still taking new clients when they can't take care of their existing client base. I thought I had found the perfect clinic for my dogs until today. I took my two year old Healer in for a routine nail clipping. She was taken by a tech into a back room without me. I don't know what happened, but I was told by the tech when she was brought out, that she should be tranquilized before I bring her in again, and then to top it all off, they charged me double. She has had her nails done there before so my guess is she was roughed up this time. I am sad that I have to look for another clinic, but I cannot allow my dogs to be treated badly. read more

We found this vet 10 years ago after I had taken our cat to a different place not far from here. I can't remember the name of the other vet, but they were incredibly expensive, and after hundreds of dollars worth of tests, they referred me to Cascade saying it would save me money. My boy back then ended up having kidney failure. I had just given birth to my 4th child who was born with her own medical conditions and I was broke and exhausted. Cascade and their amazing staff found a way for me to afford care for my sweet cat so that he could live another 4 years of good quality life. It's not a convenient location for me because I live up in Lk Stevens, but it is worth the drive. When our boy Nova needed to finally be put to rest, the doctor wept with us, as did several of the staff. They had all gotten to know him and just loved him. I had a bad feeling recently when I took our new cat that we adopted from NOAH in for some urine tests. She's 11 years old and when the doctor came in to talk I knew it was probably going to be kidneys again. Of course dollar signs just kept flying around, but I appreciated that not only did Dr. Ball come in and sit on the floor to just be human and at our level, she gave me multiple options with different price tags, so I could make the decision that was best for Roo, and us financially. Everyone here really cares, and most of their testing can be done in house so you don't get the big lab bills. I wish they were closer to my house...but we will be making the trip to them because you can't buy compassion, and they have it. read more

The clinic cannot seem to get scheduling correct. We showed up on three different occasions and they did not have our appointment on the schedule after scheduling on line and by phone. Records and billing is also a big problem for this clinic. Our pet was vaccinated and we were given the sticker and receipt however their records were not updated and they did not reflect the vaccine. It's 3:50PM on new year's eve. Our 17 lb cat is at the top of the stairs on the deck waiting to come in and a bigger stray cat is between the door and our cat staring him down. As my wife opens the sliding glass door Bella, our 8lb Yorkie-Chihuahua (thinks she's a rottweiler), charges the stray to protect us and her cat. She (the dog) fought valiantly, but was struck in her face a single claw rupturing her eye. Defeated she whimpered into the house and it was our turn to take care of her. My wife called Cascade and was told to bring her in immediately. Dr. Shawn Buchholz met us at the door and brought us into an exam room. She gave Bella some numbing drops in her eye and examined her wound, then gave me her recommendation. She recommended I take Bella to the Animal Vision Center in Kirkland as they have more specialized equipment that could show whether there were any pieces of the stray's claw left in her eye. She knew that they were closed for the holiday, but called the emergency number for me and told me the Dr. on call would meet me at the door. At this point Cascade Animal Clinic had already been closed for ten minutes. Dr. Buchholz also said that since they didn't do anything (what?) I wouldn't be charged for this visit. We were calmly and courteously rushed out the door bound for specialized care. This is typical of the level of service/care we and our dog and cat have received in the past 5 years at Cascade Animal Clinic. Their rates are reasonable, even lower than most, and every person I've encountered there truly care about your pet's well being. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Cascade Animal Clinic! We moved to Monroe from Issaquah, and I needed a new vet for our two chihuahuas. It happened that Cascade is only a couple of blocks away, so I thought I would give it a shot. The staff is kind, compassionate, and very professional. Lots of personal touches that I find wonderful. Dr. Ball is an excellent veterinarian. We recently got a puppy, and I took her to Cascade for her spaying. She is very small (2.5) lbs, so I was a bit worried. They were wonderful with her, and she is fully healed with no issues. It was also far less expensive than what I paid to have our other pup spayed. My first experience years ago was not very pleasant with this facility- I felt overcharged nd was suggested to perform screenings that were not needed on my puppy. However, when my cat died in Nov 2015 they were the most affordable and willing to do house calls to put my kitty to sleep and check on him. So the company began to regain my trust. Well its about a year later and I got a new kitten that needed a vet quick. Still not sure if I was fully committed to Cascade I thought I would give them another chance since it was so close to home for our new kitten. I do not feel I was over charged. The vet saw us quickly and had a waiting room fully of happy clients that had been seen promptly and were only waiting in line to pay. So I think there must be new management or new vet running the show because I am pleased and will likely be back for future vet appointments. read more

Brought my cat in for an annual exam. Dr.Lynn Kingsley was amazing! She handled Josie(my cat) incredibly well. She had a gentle touch that made her calm and relaxed. Dr.Kingsley's assistants we incredibly sweet and welcoming. Overall a good experience, I'm sure Josie can't wait until she has to come back. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because her front office people could use a customer service course. One of them was making rude and obnoxious faces at my mother and I for trying to figure out our schedules. (we hardly see each other because our work times are incredibly different) We needed to figure out who would drop Josie off and who would pick her up. Other than that, the doctor was fantastic and her assistants were wonderful. But their downfall is their front office. read more

This clinic was recommended to me by a friend who raved about their great service and genuine concern for your furry family members. In the spring of 2009 my boyfriend and I decided to get a puppy. We went to Cascade for a consultation visit - the techs were so great! They gave us all sorts of new puppy info packets, treatment recommendations and answered ALL our crazy "new parent" questions. They even suggested bringing her in (for a social visit) to meet everybody - they all cooed at her and gave her treats. And our dog thinks the vet is the BEST place to go because she knows everyone - what a great idea. They have an annual Holiday Party with raffle gift baskets and free pictures with Santa, for you and your pets! How cool is that? We've been taking our dog here for a year and a half now and have always been happy with the service, care and dog treats. :) read more

We showed up at their door with our injured cat at 8:00 am with no advance notice or appointment. They made her a high priority as she had broken her leg. They made her comfortable and did surgery the next day. The cost ended up being $600 less than the first quote was. Their follow up is amazing. All three of my animals go here. Everyone is really nice and you can tell they love animals. Scheduled appointments for vaccines are quick and surgeries are done well. I've had a cat and dog neutered/spayed here and will have my puppy go here when he reaches age for neutering. read more

Amazing veterinarians and Staff. I highly recommend this veterinary practice!!! The staff is very knowledgable and doctors amazing. I have always had a over the top experience, from my new kitten to loosing and elderly long term feline friend. (they have an amazingly private euthanasia room). I always feel like I get top notch service in good times and sad. read more

Everyone here is super friendly and even though we moved to a different city we still make the 20 minute drive to bring our dog back here. My dog recently got spayed and at the same time had an oral extraction which cost $470. She also got an updated shot and microchip inserted in her which was about $50, included in the price. I do feel cheated in a way because I had an estimate for under $300 (which is no longer valid after 30 days) and was surprised at the expensive price jump in less than 5 months. I had to pay $120 for a price bump in the cost of the surgery and when asked to have someone explain it to me, I was at fault because I did not read the small print that told me the estimate was only valid for 30 days. Although the staff was willing to explain the situation to me, I was at fault for not renewing the estimate before setting up the surgery. The price increase is not reasonable and I will be looking for a new clinic. read more
