Brent was able to assess and seal both cars' chips, as well as cleaning up a previous repair from another company. He saved a special windshield that costs an eye-watering $1,600 just for the glass, not to mention the complexity involved in replacing it with all the sensor suites mounted behind it! I appreciate being able to walk in, have the repairs done, and leave within minutes. I'm sure Brent had more important work to accomplish this morning (all the repair crews were off doing appointments), but you definitely feel valued as a customer when the owner is willing to stop what he's doing and spend the time to get you back on your way.

After doing some research and reading a lot of reviews, I decided to have my windshield replaced by Glass Monkey, which is conveniently located near the Boise Costco. Never having had as much as a rock chip repair, I had all kinds of questions about the process. Nicole went above and beyond in answering them, as well as scheduling my service. Originally, I wanted OEM glass, but due to a cyber attack on June 19, the ability to order parts via dealerships with an ETA came to a standstill. Because the crack was significant and in my line of vision, I was not comfortable with the idea of waiting up to 6 months or longer to have my windshield replaced. So, I went with OEE. Nicole assured me that my new windshield would be every bit as good as the original. I took her at her word, but I was nervous because I had read online reviews about people getting windshield replacements at other businesses which were not up to par with the original. I also know visual distortions can put you at risk for accidents while driving. I'm Type A when it comes to my vision. That includes my ability to see clearly through my windshield. I drive around with a roll of paper towels and a full can of Sprayway Glass Cleaner in my trunk. If anyone can tell the difference between an OEM and an OEE windshield, it will be me. *edit 19 April: Dave paid another company to replace *some* of the damages incurred during the…read morewindshield replacement his team performed in March, however, he won't take responsibility for things such as a loose cowling and a bow/bulge in the side panel of the windshield . The bow/budge is caused by a broken/missing piece of the BASE of said side panel. He takes no responsibility for these damages and believes I should be happy with a replacement of 1 of 3 things identified as damaged by two (2) other shops. When I called to speak to him about it, he didn't hang up before I heard him yell something along the lines of "oh are you kidding". Original: Price point for install of a windshield was competitive compared to every other shop I called, however while working the replacement, they broke a mechanism that moves the windshield wipers. They were able to locate and replace the part at their expense *edit: i found out they didn't actually replace this part but instead WIRED it back together and didn't tell me. Another shop examined the vehicle and took photos showing me the wired pieces. He later agreed to replace this piece but only after I called and complained. He wired the items together and had no intention of telling me. Original continued: The day after replacement, I noticed extreme shakiness on my rear view mirror while driving. When I called to inquire, Dave - the owner - said they were in such a rush to fix what they broke that they may not have installed the mirror correctly. He advised me to roll up some paper and stuff it in the back of the mirror before going to another glass shop and asking them to fix it - due to being on cell phones, we were inadvertently talking over one another and he had quite an attitude about "let me finish what I am trying to say" which wasn't appreciated. I would never recommend Dave and am considering taking him to small claims court for the damage his tech caused that he refuses to replace, as though I should be happy and accept partial reimbursement for $700 in damages.

This happened on Saturday, and I was told the warranty department was closed until Monday. That meant I had to go two days without being able to safely drive my car. When I called on Monday, the representative explained that the warranty is "lifetime" as long as you own the car and that it covers things like rain damage, faulty glass, and installation errors, etc. Based on that conversation, it sounded like the issue would likely be covered. However, they couldn't send someone out until Tuesday leaving me without my car for four days. When the technicians finally came out on Tuesday, they took photos and said their manager would review everything and call me back. I was still left with a vehicle I couldn't safely drive. A few hours later the manager called and claimed the issue was caused by "external damage," even though no external damage occurred. As a mom with kids who need to get to school and activities, being left without a safe vehicle for days was extremely stressful and inconvenient. I used to highly recommend Safelite to my friends and family, but after this experience I absolutely will not be doing that anymore. Being left without a drivable vehicle for days and then having a legitimate issue dismissed like this is extremely frustrating. Extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled.
