Cascades was recommended by a neightor and we are so glad we contacted them. We have a three old unit, so no problems ... just scheduled a regular check up. Our tech, Joe, was really great. Turns out the builder had everything set for a 4 ton unit but we only have a 3 ton unit. Joe made adjustments and the equipment immediately became quieter! Also, the builder had outside air coming in which is NOT NEEDED in a residential building, as doors and windows are being opened all the time. Hands down the best company overall that I have worked with since moving to NOVA in 2012. With my own house and rental properties, I have used a number of different services in the area. Without fail, the large companies that you see advertise on TV will only try to sale you a new system and if you insist on repair the costs are exorbitant. During the heat wave one of my tenants AC went out on a Sunday. While I was able to get Snell to come out, they did not repair, told me the blower motor was shot and it needed a new capacitor. The capacitor itself is a $15.00 part and Snell wanted to charge me $350.00. With the motor replacement it went over $1300.00. The guy that came out only wanted to talk about system replacement and kept pressuring me for a decision then and there and became visibly frustrated when I refused. Cascades Comfort Services was able to give me an appointment much sooner, came out on time, informed me it was ONLY a capacitor issue, motor is old but still has life and the charges were much much less. Knowing this, I will only use this company from now on. I planned to replace the system this fall and will go with them for the replacement. read more

Don't be put off by the ancient, slightly-broken homepage of Cascades Comfort Services -- this is a great family-run Heating/Air-Conditioning contractor. Cascades has worked on my HVAC twice in the past five years. In 2007, they repaired the busted fan motor on my electric AC unit. I got an appointment within three days and Robert (the owner) fixed the motor perfectly. After picking up a new motor at Home Depot and installing it, he decided that it wasn't quite powerful enough for the size of my home, and went out to get a second one (He didn't bill me for any of the time spent driving). In Spring 2009, I shopped around for a contractor to completely replace my Air Handler and Heat Pump. Robert's bid came in right in the middle, but his attention to detail during the inspection process was much higher than the other companies I tried. He went over all my options, including the ones that didn't cost as much. They did all the work in a single business day, and thoroughly cleaned up the area. July 3rd - air conditioning down. Cascades was the third company we called - next time they'll be the first. The first company - noted that the drain pan was full of water - diagnosed low refrigerant and a coil that needed replacing - suggested cost would be about $3,000 - didn't empty the drain pan of water or get the air conditioning started again - sent a salesman to try and sell us a new $7,000 HVAC system The second company - emptied the drain pan and restarted the unit - noted that the air wasn't being cooled as much as he would have liked, but suggested that he thought the refrigerant was fine. - thought we might need a new baffle but didn't have the part available - didn't leave me with a good feeling that he knew what he was talking about :-) Both these companies charged us for the diagnosis and the second company charged us a little extra for some labor. Then the Cascades guy arrived. He quickly diagnosed that the outside unit coil needed cleaning and alerted us to the fact that our dryer duct was located adjacent to the fan unit - and thus pumping lint directly into the AC unit - not a good idea. He took the time to clearly explain what he had found, how the issue came about, why it couldn't be caused by anything else etc. He then cleaned the coil quickly and confirmed that we had sufficient refrigerant. He did not charge for the diagnosis and refused several times to take money for cleaning the coil. Never going to call anybody else again. read more

Based on their incredible ratings we called Cascades. Patrick arrived ahead of time which was great for us. He was courteous, personable, professional, and considerate wearing footies to protect our flooring. We explained the HVAC issue we saw it and he quickly diagnosed the problem. Fortunately the problem was nothing more than replacing an aged thermostat and with that the problem was solved. Patrick set up the thermostat linking the system to our phone. This is a small family owned business and we felt lucky to have found them. We recently had an issue with our HVAC that left us without AC during a particularly hot week. Our neighbor suggested Cascades Comfort, as they had a couple of great experiences with them. It was a great suggestion, and we were very happy with the work and the overall experience. We called late in the evening expecting to just leave a message. They kindly called us back well after hours to setup an appointment. Great! Then they showed up right on time (actually a little early, which was awesome), and got right to work. Even though one of their trucks was out of service, they were able to set an appointment with me within 48-hours. It's rare when you have an appointment with a service company and they show up on the dot too! No two to three hour window like most companies. My appointment was at 11a and that's exactly when Pat arrived. He was in and out in 30-minutes and the repair was made at a very reasonable price. I am an engineer and he impressed me! Both Robert and Pat are awesome. They are prompt, efficient and above all else, honest. Very clean and tidy, respecting our property, Prior to using Pat and Robert, I used the people who installed the unit. I had one problem after another (this was a brand new unit) Problems usually occurred a week or two after they did their 6 month service. After I switched to Cascade Comfort, no more problems with units! A specific example of their honesty: My AC unit stopped working on a weekend. Cascade couldn't get out to service it until Monday. I found someone who would come out on the weekend. They said the unit would have to be replaced! So I decided to wait until Cascade could take a look at it. Pat showed up promptly Monday morning. Our ac stopped blowing cold air in early June. Given that the ac/furnace system was 20+ years old at the time, we decided just to go ahead and replace it. I contacted five companies, including Sears and Costco. While the Cascades quote wasn't the lowest in terms of price (they were second), it provided the best value hands down. In terms of their work, they were efficient, respectful, and tidy. Prior to installation, response to e-mails was always that evening and the few times I called during business hours, someone answered the phone. Robert, the owner, is low-keyed and patient.
