I usually love supporting local spots, and as someone who has worked in food service, I completely understand that lunches get busy and ticket times can run long. We really don't mind waiting for our food! However, our experience today left a bummer taste in our mouth regarding the service. We ordered three meals (salad, fries, burger, fajita bowl) and were waiting patiently when a group of two sat down well after we ordered. One of the line cooks literally came out of the kitchen, took their order directly, went back, made their food, and brought it out to them. They were very clearly friends or family of the employee. While I totally get wanting to take care of your people, their food came out 10-15 minutes before ours did. Using your position in the kitchen to completely skip the line and delay paying customers who ordered ahead of time just isn't right. We don't mind a wait, but we do mind blatant favoritism disrupting the ticket flow. Otherwise, our was really attentive, and the food was delicious. read more

First off server Jordan provide us with great service and information about the beer and brewery. We tasted most of the beers and didn't find any that were not good to great. The brewery has a restaurant with a wide selection of food and the overall atmosphere is great. Nice patio that is shaded most of the day. read more

The only brewery I didn't get to visit last year was Cascade Lakes, so I made sure it was my first stop on this visit. The 7th Street location in Redmond looks like an older log cabin, with a large patio out front. It's conveniently located to downtown Redmond, easily walkable from other restaurants, bars, and breweries if you're staying nearby. Going inside, I quickly realized this was a friendly local place where people come and the bartender knows your name and order. I ordered two flights on my visit; all the beer was great. They have a number of core staples, plus a bunch of small batch beers you can read about on the chalkboard near the door. The bartender was immediately friendly and welcoming; I said it was my first time there and she told me it's the oldest not-for-profit brewery in Oregon, donating all their post-bill/payroll profits to local charities. I was also here at lunch time and ordered maybe the best tuna melt I've ever had - rich, buttery, and delicious. They have lots of beers packaged to go as well. If you're doing the Bend Ale Trail, this is a fun stop and worth venturing to Redmond for if staying in Bend. read more

The service here is always excellent in my experience. My wife and I visit regularly and always enjoy the vibe. The food is typical bar fare, but is still delicious with generous portions. If you order anything with fries, I recommend upgrading to the hand cut fries or sweet potato fries. read more

The beers are great. The food is on the low end of acceptable. The fry cook obviously doesn't care about quality when he serves fried, battered fish that is dark brown. The same with the calamari. Blame management. They also, obviously don't care about quality. They used to make the best Mac and cheese I've ever eaten. Then they took it off the menu. Also made a decent Tuna melt. Took it off the menu, too. The French dip I had yesterday had barely enough meat, which was finely chopped and dry. They didn't even give enough a jus to dip the whole sandwich. I asked for no garlic butter bc it overwhelms everything else. Lots to improve here. Oh, and you can't get regular fries with no salt bc they come rather heavily pre-salted. The fixes would be so easy, but apparently no one in management cares. read more

I don't get to Redmond pubs much, mainly because I have little desire to travel down Hwy 97 to Bend afterwords. But it does happen (I don't drink much when I do). Hot day and we were looking for a pub with shade. Cascade Lakes at 7th certainly fills the bill with their large covered patio. The inside seems good as well but we weren't interested in mingling with people. CL's beer is familiar to me both from their pub in Bend and from home drinking. While not my favorite, it's pretty good and they have a large variety. Foodwise, things weren't quite as great. My wife is a vegetarian and the menu is pretty sparse in that regard. CL would do well to add a few things. Maybe a Beyond or Impossible plant-based burger (they have a black bean but those generally aren't very good) and a vegetable dish. That said, the server was very accomodating in creating a custom nacho plate for her. I had a reuben which was fine. Beers were fine too but the IPA wasn't chilled enough. I dropped a few ice cubes in to lower the temp. Heresy, I know. Great patio and I like that they have a self-serve water and to-go box station. Recommended. read more

This place has one of our favorite orders in Central Oregon. We absolutely love the tuna melt. I don't know how they make it so good or what flavors are in it but it's the best we have had. We like to split that and the Buffalo chicken salad which is big, loaded and delicious. Sometimes we drive to redmond from Sisters just for this order. I'm not sure we've ever had anything else there haha. The service is always friendly and the atmosphere is nice. We like sitting on the patio with our pup. I wanted to like this place more than I did. It has pretty good reviews, a cute patio, and happy customers hanging out inside and outside. The host who sat us was very kind. While we didn't talk to the GM, he seemed very charismatic and was chatting with some customers at the table next to us. Our experience wasn't bad, I appreciated that they had kombucha and my husband liked his beer. I also appreciated that they included gluten free items on the menu (thank you!). The happy hour deals were good. The appetizer plate was pretty standard and my burger was okay. I must have caught our server on an off day, because I didn't have super friendly service. It seemed almost as if we were an inconvenience to her, but I like to give people benefit of the doubt. Overall, this place is cute and gets the job done. read more

This is a great little spot. It used to be part of a neighborhood back when I lived here oh so many years ago. Their food is great! I had a burger, and it was delicious. I stuck to soft drinks as I'm not a beer drinker but I was impressed with their options and various flights of beers here. This was all pre-Covid so I'm not sure of the situation there now. I look forward to trying this place again once we can safely move about the cabin. read more

Service was slow, I saw 3 servers available but it looked like a steady night, was not packed. Beer was okay, not impressed with their selection. My original review says that I couldn't see this becoming my "go-to" spot and yet.... this last year it has become my go-to spot and I don't see that changing now. I started coming here more frequently because it's the closest place to eat/drink after running my errands and eventually I ended up loving it more and more. I don't have much to add to my first review in terms of information but felt after all this time it was still fair to update it. The bartenders are very friendly and I've met a lot of interesting people from hanging out here. I love the food and alternate between the cheese sticks, chicken strips, and chicken caesar salads, but I also enjoy the wraps. I still love the outside seating with the fireplace. My favorite places are always the ones with outside seating where you can drink and smoke. I've also started watching more of my baseball games here (when I'm not sitting outside). As recent reviews have already stated, there is new ownership and a new menu (that seems to only be slightly changed), but the staff is still as great as ever. read more

Was in from out of town for a few weeks. Visited twice. First time wife and I sat at a table and had great service, food was delicious. Wings are great. The second time I was in (only returning to grab a beer and buy a cool t shirt before leaving Oregon) sat at the bar for 10+ min I swear the bartender was refusing to turn around and face the bar before a server noticed and embarrassingly took my order. Wish I would have gotten the bartenders name. I dont know what his deal was. They were slow, I was maybe one of three at the bar. Food and beer are great. I have lived in Redmond for quite some time, but based on local recommendations have never tried this establishment. Long time friends have always told me that the service was terrible and so I stayed away. Today, I decided to find out for myself. My mom was visiting from out of town and she wanted to go to lunch. I wanted to try something different than the usual places I take her when she is here. Initial impressions were not bad. It is a nice space with a great outdoor covered and heated area. The inside is loud, likely due to the low ceilings. There were not a lot of people there. Maybe four or five tables full inside but most of the outdoor seating was full. My mom and I were both servers for a good part of our lives, so we notice things. When we sat down we noticed that the front glass on a bar fridge near a servers station was very dirty. No big deal. Being in the service industry, it does make me wonder what else isn't being cleaned. But not enough to really make me not want to eat there. We got our drinks relatively quickly but the food took longer than I would have expected. But it was good. I have zero complaints about the food. Our food was brought out by someone other than our sever, and when I told him I would like ranch for my fries, when he brought it, he just put it on the table and walked away. I was turned away so I didn't even notice he brought it. I found it a bit odd that he wouldn't say "here you go" or something, anything. But didn't think much of it. He did seem a little odd. Then, I was sitting there chatting with my mom. The server station was right next to our table. My mom, being the type of person who is always worrried about being an inconvenience, said to me that we could go whenever I was ready. I replied to her that I was in no hurry and just waiting for a box. The waitress at the station near us much have heard me because she wheeled around and put a box on the table without saying a word. My mom also needed a box. It felt very rude and passive agressive. I wasn't even talking to her or insinuating that I needed a box right that moment. I was just telling my mom that I wasn't in a hurry. I still needed a box, to pay, etc. We didn't need to leave right that minute. On top of it all, and I know there is nothing that the restaurant can do about this, but I definitely wouldn't sit next to the bar if there is a next time. There was a guy who was interested in a girl that had come in that apparently worked at another local restaurant and this staff knew her or knew of her. So there was a lot of banter back and forth about this girl between him and the wait staff (while I was waiting for a box and the bill, although again I wasn't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal). This person was also having dialogue with another bar patron about this girl that wasn't exactly the type of thing I wanted to hear while I was eating with my 75 year old mother. Honestly, all of this probably would not have had much of an impact on me except the very rude way the waitress working responded to a comment during a conversation she was not a part of, and just put a box on the table without saying a word. It's hard to explain, but to me, that was super rude. Almost like she was irritated that I said I was waiting for a box. So, I did not leave our server a 20% tip. I really would like for everyone working in a restaurant or bar know that if their co-workers are interacting with their customers, this also affects their tip. without all of the other stuff, I probably would have given his waiter a 20% tip. the service was a bit slow, and if he had asked me, I probably wouldn't have had a second beer. But he didn't come back to check on us until I was past wanting a second because he was engaging in the conversation about the girl that the guy at the bar was interested in. Not a super terrible experience, but definitely enough to make me not want to go back. If you have high standards for service, I am not sure you will get it satisfied here. But. the food was not bad. Take out maybe? If you are a server, remember how you behave influences the tips for those you work with if you are interacting with their customers. You can make or break your coworkers. read more
