We stopped here in our way through and have been meaning to try this place again after having a not great to go order a couple years ago. We got there around 11:30 and were the only ones there. We had a very awkward and curt interaction with the gal taking our order. We asked for burger baskets and were met with confusion and after some back and forth we learned fries and drinks are all sold separately. We got 3 kids burgers and 3 bacon cheeseburgers and 5 drinks. $103. The burgers were hard and overcooked and the best part it all came out, as a burger in a basket with fire. I don't really know much about the area I'm staying in. That lack of knowledge either presents you with pleasant surprises or great disappointments. You never know what it's going to be until you step into a place and try them. So it was with The Dawg House. I entered the establishment and was warmly greeted by two local ladies, both of whom were very friendly. And not for the sake of being friendly because it's good for business, but genuinely that small town friendliness that makes small, independent joints like this an absolute pleasure to visit. The place was very clean, and well lit, it was spacious, and there was plenty of good seating. Being I was at The Dawg House, I opted for Hot Dogs and Onion Rings, though they did have many other options on the menu. Let me say, these were some of the best hot dogs I've had in a long time! I tried two different hot dogs (both were the Puppy Dawg, the smaller sized version) one with ketchup and mustard, and the other with chili, cheese and onions. Both were absolutely fantastic with a full robust flavor. The ketchup and mustard brought out the flavor of the hot dog in one way, while the chili, cheese and onions brought it out in a different way. I must also make a note that the chili they topped the dog with had a great seasoning, and was balanced beautifully with just the right level of "kick". The onion rings turned out to be an unexpected treat as they were cooked crisp, but not overdone without being drenched in grease. They were done to perfection. It's been awhile since my father & I last had a meal here. The drive thru was an interesting experience we got handed a number & told to go wait in the parking lot along w/ everyone else. The letter size on the menu could've been written in bigger letters. Had to wait around 15 minutes ish for the food to be ready. The lady taking orders didn't seem to be cheerful but was at a little bit pleasant. It would've been nice if the food was above lukewarm temperature. My son arrived in Army uniform while on military orders Wednesday July 18th. He reported that the food was very good, but the service was best. He was treated well, and most graciously by the two ladies working that day. We were out of town and missed him, but you girls made him feel at home. Thank you. Sunday morning about 9am- nothing open I mean not Tastee Treat, Taco Bell, Starbucks wanted breakfast. Pull up to drive through at Dawg House Kim Was SOOO nice. I was frustrated living in hotel cause I just took job in Prineville with no kitchen to cook. I mean it's BREAKFAST time. Kim was like ya know what let me turn on my grill and fryer. Although they didn't serve breakfast I went with lunch at the time 3 of cod fish with coleslaw yummy not fishy at all & coleslaw creamy- also ordered Mike the Tri-tip dip - they were out of onion rings but tried the tots both were fresh& delicious. My wife and I got the volcano burger. It was bomb!!! Super juicy. We were craving a Hawaiian burger but didn't want a ham patty so we risked it with the volcano (japs, pineapple, beef and I think potato bread?) over the best burger in town and better priced. Horribly rude staff, outrageous prices, long wait and unclean. Paid over $60 for four people - burgers and drinks (fries cost extra!). Expensive order of tater tots was delivered with only about 15 tots. All four people in my party couldn't believe how few were served as the "side." Clerk was rude when I accidentally took the store copy of the debit card receipt rather than Customer Copy, after having sat down only about 5 feet from the counter. Honest mistake.. Probably due to the sticker shock of the prices and that fries cost extra. I apologized for the slight mishap & yet she was extremely huffy and rude. On a sunny Sunday we happen to see this place along the road. The place was busy and there is a drive through window. There was two ladies behind the counter. I had questions but she was totally cool and helped me out. No one waiting behind us. I ordered the hot dog. You pick your toppings..Just tell them what you want. We got a side of fries to share and I got a side salad. You get a number and then sit and wait. Watched locals come in and order their usuals while we waited. Hubby got the Tri tip sandwich. He let me snag a bite and it was good. Lots of pepper flavor. I ordered a $4 chocolate shake. Made from real, scooped up, ice cream. Worth it. My hotdog was big and plump. The bun was fresh and tasty. The fries where skinny but plentiful for a small. They came with a special sauce! I forgot that Oregon had this magic dipping sauce. It's a mix of sauces, and just yummy. I ate more fries than I had thought just cause of the sauce. Good quick stop along a super busy road. Give them a try. read more

It came on a nice toasted bun and the meat was peppered so it wouldn't be for little kids. (If they pass on the hot dogs that is). Smaller place with seating outside that would be nice. Oh my gosh I just had the best bacon cheeseburger I have had in a long time. You will be so surprised if you order a hamburger here. It's unlike anywhere else. You can actually see and taste the hamburger patty and it's delicious! I would have given five stars it I wasn't overly impressed with the fries or fry sauce. The fry sauce had way too much mustard in it. And the fries were grainy and limp. But the burger! Oh man I will go back just for that burger! read more

Tried this place for the first time and what a pleasant surprise to have the food coming out and tasting is good as the pictures look! I had a chicken sandwich and the chicken was as fresh as can be as well as the delicious coleslaw that came with it. My husband had one of those yummy looking hamburgers I'm not sure which one but he said it was delicious! That surprised me because he's very picky about his hamburgers. The most I usually get is, "it was OK" so his affirmation on the taste and quality assured me that it must have been very good. Will we go back? Most definitely. read more

They have excellent burgers. Their milkshakes are made from hard ice cream and they're great too. They have done a lot of work trying to make a seating area in the outside area nice. The reason that I didn't give them five stars is I've ordered two to go meals and gotten home and they were both wrong. They however agreed to give me a free meal. I was hesitant to try this place but ended up having a great experience. The food was simple but came out super quickly (pretty ideal after hiking the Ochocos). They brought out fresh water and treats for my dog while we sat on the patio. always liked this place until today. After sitting outside for 45 minutes for our order of 1 hamburger and 2 small fries 14.75 decided to go inside to see if maybe they had forgotten us. the nice girl asked the cook and he went nuts saying everything is on the grill he was really agitated. i decided i could not eat anything he would be cooking for me. we did keep the fries and was offered a refund for the burger which turned out to be a gift certificate. which i left with them saying i would not be coming back. moral of the story never question the angry cook about your order. read more

Yesterday was my first AND LAST time ever patronizing this establishment. After ordering 2 burgers and an order of fries, my husband and I waited almost 15 mins for our food. (We were the only people there besides another couple that had already gotten their food.) We were really pressed for time, and, after 15 mins, we knew we weren't going to have time to eat there, so my husband politely asked if we could get that order to go, to which an older, short gray-haired HAG (I dont know what else to call her, she was not a LADY by any means) responded: "But the order's already ready right now!" To which my husband, very apologetically tried to explain that we had gotten a call, and really needed to go. She said to the cook. "They want this order to go now!" My husband apologized to this woman AGAIN, and she refused to even acknowledge his presence!... She disappeared into the back and came out about 10 minutes later, and with absolutely no expression, proceeded to tell us that she had "dropped the fries" and they needed to make them fresh. For one, there is a half-swinging door and a window looking into the kitchen. She didn't drop the fries. Gritting our teeth, we waited ANOTHER 10 minutes before we finally received our order. . .and guess what? The burgers AND the fries were cold, hard, dry, tasteless, and rubbery. I had to pull the entire outside edge off the burger just to eat it. WORST FAST-FOOD EXPERIENCE I've ever had in my life! Don't waste your time. read more

My family of 6 just stopped on our way to the Painted Hills. Corn dog, hot dog, junior cheese burgers with bacon, tri tip dip with grilled mushrooms, fries and tots all washed down with chocolate shakes. We ate all our food so fast I couldn't get pictures. Staff was very friendly and full of smiles, but this was sadly the only highlight of my experience. Drive through wait time was very long. Menus are unprofessional and appear to have been quickly thrown together in Microsoft Word with ugly generic fonts, and there is no speaker box so they send someone out to stand and look at you while you are deciding what you want, which I found unpleasant even though the girl was nice. I ordered a 1/4 dog. It was mushy and didn't have any flavor. There was no "bite" to the dog casing WHATSOEVER, it was like a canned cocktail wiener. It was also barely warm by the time I got home. Bun and condiments were just fine, but wiener was so unpalatable I only ate half the dog. I honestly would have preferred to boil a grocery store wiener myself and save some cash. Fries appeared to be generic food service type. I asked about their burgers, which they form themselves (sounds promising, wished I would have ordered one instead) but I doubt Ill be returning any time soon. Last thing of note is they weren't able to provide a receipt for a debit purchase, which wasn't a big deal personally, but again seemed rather unprofessional. read more

Great food love it. But this last time I went there the young girl who was working had just terrible customer service. Not friendly at all. I told her "thank you so much" when she handed me our food and she replied to me with "yep" and proceeded to slam the drive thru window.
