I don't really know much about the area I'm staying in. That lack of knowledge either presents you with pleasant surprises or great disappointments. You never know what it's going to be until you step into a place and try them. So it was with The Dawg House. I entered the establishment and was warmly greeted by two local ladies, both of whom were very friendly. And not for the sake of being friendly because it's good for business, but genuinely that small town friendliness that makes small, independent joints like this an absolute pleasure to visit. The place was very clean, and well lit, it was spacious, and there was plenty of good seating. Being I was at The Dawg House, I opted for Hot Dogs and Onion Rings, though they did have many other options on the menu. Let me say, these were some of the best hot dogs I've had in a long time! I tried two different hot dogs (both were the Puppy Dawg, the smaller sized version) one with ketchup and mustard, and the other with chili, cheese and onions. Both were absolutely fantastic with a full robust flavor. The ketchup and mustard brought out the flavor of the hot dog in one way, while the chili, cheese and onions brought it out in a different way. I must also make a note that the chili they topped the dog with had a great seasoning, and was balanced beautifully with just the right level of "kick". The onion rings turned out to be an unexpected treat as they were cooked crisp, but not overdone without being drenched in grease. They were done to perfection. If you're passing through Prineville Oregon, and need a place to get a bite, The Dawg House is sure to please your appetite, and give you a dose of great small town charm.

My son arrived in Army uniform while on military orders Wednesday July 18th. He reported that the food was very good, but the service was best. He was treated well, and most graciously by the two ladies working that day. We were out of town and missed him, but you girls made him feel at home. Thank you. We are going to be regular customers from now on!

Table service after ordering, should be sitting outside!

The food was great, but the service was even better. The overall experience was amazing and I would recommend it

Got the tri tip sandwich and fries. Meat was very chewy and fries were lack luster and limp.

The best part? When you sit down they bring squeeze bottles of ketchup, mustard, ranch, and FRY SAUCE!

I don't know how you can mess up a hot dog. I ordered one with condiments. It was uncooked and inedible.

Cold buns, burger was dry as could be. (Like eating jerky) and a 40 minute wait. $39.00 for two burgers and a drink. Won't be back.

BAD TEMPERED COOK will screw up your special order. Has happened too many times! Taking a break and will visit other restaurants.

When hubby found this restaurant, it was where we turned around last night, I couldn't believe, we didn't come here sooner, instead we went to another restaurant, and ended coming back here. (That's what happens, when you search and new in town). Flowers hanging on the front porch, and first impression display as you walked inside, got me! The plague on the wall, as you wait to be seated, all signs, we picked a good finale night to spend dinner. This time, we ordered what each wanted: Hubby ordered Prime Rib, thin sliced with side dish Wild Rice Pilaf. I ordered the Cod Dinner with side dish Bacon Pepper Green Beans. We shared a salad. And a complimentary Molten Lava Cake, with a candle on it. Thank you, Danielle! Only negative that I found? This is Prineville, Oregon, why butter from HOUSTON, TX? Is Oregon butter, not good enough, for Prineville? Also: After three nights, three restaurants, there's always the same Clam Chowder, do they get their supplies from one source, or are they from Texas, too!

Something happened and it's not great…read more Used to be, This place was awesome with fresh grated hash browns and fresh, large portions. Not so now. Small portions of Food Services frozen hash browns. Gravy on biscuits almost devoid of sausage. Nothing wonderful at all. Oh, the coffee. Absolutely awful. One older gentleman contented himself with a coke. Food left on the counter not being picked up . Anyways .... It's a bust. Hope they become professional servers and don't discuss yesterday's 'take' in front of customers. I am not interested in overhearing two women discussing this. When asked how we enjoyed our breakfast, I said it was ok but we loved and missed the fresh hash browns. That there used to be sacks of fresh potatoes in the hallway. The waitress said, "there were sacks of potatoes in the hallway? They grated their own potatoes? I'll have to check into that ..' What? I said, vyes there were. Everybody knew it.
