Sadly we were one of the ones who had the slowest service ever. It was an hour and 10 minutes before our dinner plates appeared before us and we had already set a cut off time to pay for our drinks and leave. Unfortunately they seemed highly understaffed yet they continued to set people at every single table even though they knew full well that the kitchen could not keep up. My steak was overcooked and the chicken while moist seemed particularly bland. Clam chowder was meh and the wedge salad was good but who are we kidding, it's a wedge of iceberg lettuce dressed up. Ambiance was lovely. Sadly it's a place that would never get a redo from us. Our poor server kept apologizing yet no attempts were made to appease us with a free drink or dessert. Not that we needed anything free but at that point it just seemed as if the restaurant should be trying to make amends. Also we heard a server asking a table behind us if they'd like clam chowder while waiting and she excitedly said "it's on the house because of your long wait"! Really? ‍

Absolutely amazing!!! some of the best food me and my wife have ever had, and we are foodies. I had the pesto shrimp linguine I'm telling you it is the best shrimp pasta I have ever had in my life!!! don't forget about the bread oh my goodness out of this world! 10 out of 10 and then some. Service was amazing, place ambience fits the lifestyle. Will definitely be back. Sorry I didn't get a pic of the pesto. Did get a pic of this amazing bread pudding, which was also super delicious. Compliments to the chef, amazingly well!

Reuben and French Dip, Caesar salad, truffle fries.... Reuben was the star!

Classic joint. Have had a few things here and everything has been pretty solid. In the past I've enjoyed the French onion soup and the chicken fried chicken. Recently I tried the Reuben and French Dip. The French Dip was aiight, but the Reuben was spectacular! I'm not even necessarily one to order a Reuben. It was delicious! Truffle fries and salad were an upgrade. Fries were super garlicky, which I enjoy. If I could do one thing differently I would have asked for a side of mustard with the Reuben. Yummm!!!

Very delicious food, quick service. They have 300 year old trees that they built the restaurant around!! Our server Danny was great and very attentive. A worthwhile stop in Bend!

Had drinks here before dinner. Great service and whiskey menu. We will be back for sure! Also love the vibe. On the river.

Mediocre food, high prices, boring and bland people. I'll skip it in the future. This restaurant had no character.

But this place in Bend... this is serious burger territory. First thing you notice: they're not messing around with the menu. Just burgers that understand what a burger is supposed to be. Double patty. Brioche bun. Cheese doing its job. America. I ordered The O.G. because I respect tradition. American cheese, caramelized onions, burger sauce. Simple system. Works great. Like a pickup truck that starts every time. My buddy got The Popper which is basically what happens when a jalapeño popper and a burger start collaborating. Bacon, jalapeño cream cheese, ranch. It looked like something a scientist made to test the limits of happiness. Fries were solid. Soda cold. No weird nonsense. Just burgers doing burger things. Only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because if I lived closer I would probably eat here too often and that feels medically irresponsible. I'd give it 6 stars if Yelp understood burgers better.

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

One thing we didn't get but looked awesome: I don't know if we missed out on some gem, but so many people were getting the burgers/fries from one truck. Also, so many other people were getting stuff from the Thai truck. And to top it off... the beer/cider station had an awesome deal. Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.
