This place is definitely a bar, not a restaurant--just a heads up if that matters to you. I stopped in specifically for the broasted chicken, which was quite good! Brian was both my bartender and the cook for my chicken, and he did a great job on both fronts. The reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is the noticeable odor when you first walk in. The bar mats and floor could really use a deep cleaning to help get rid of that lingering spilt beer smell. Overall, it's your classic bar vibe: a bit dark inside, music playing, and folks chatting and hanging out. Another day in Bend and another bar checked off the list (don't judge). Cascade is an awesome tavern with super bomb Jojos, the old school ones, not those little potato wedges they sell at delis these days. Overall it has a great bar ambiance, good tap list if you're a beer lover, and a great liquor selection with solid pours, not that I'm looking to get trashed as those days are behind me, but it's nice to taste the liquor in your drink or if you order a shot have a decent pour (no need to have someone measuring out the portions to the tee, rely on a hand pour people were pouring drinks here not creating craft cocktails) The food prices are also great for the portion sizes... you can definitely split their chicken meals with 2 people. We've had a couple bartenders there and they were both friendly with solid service too, so it checks all the boxes in a bar that I'm looking for. This was a fun place to hang with friends, the beer is relatively cheap and it has a true dive bar aesthetic with an outdoor patio in addition. I was in town for the week and a local friend recommended this place for our big group to grab a beer and some food. It's definitely a dive bar, and it smells like pee. If you can get past that- they have a good beer selection and friendly service. I was a little disappointed that they were already on the "late night" menu at 6:30pm on a Thursday because there wasn't a lot to choose from that wasn't fried. The bartender recommended the 4 piece fried chicken and jojos and it was very good and affordable! I just wish there were some healthier options on the late night menu. Used to love this place... now it's always overcrowded and it always smells like barf. I've been here a countless number of times and I usually have a good experience, however when I was there a few nights ago, a blonde female walked by me and sexually assaulted me by grabbing my butt and then staring at me, making eye contact with me and then she kept walking. Five people around me witnessed it and one of them was also sexually assaulted by this blonde female within seconds before I was. I noticed the blonde female was chatting with the bouncer and so I reported her to the bartender and they immediately kicked her out, thankfully. Shortly later, I noticed the blonde female was back in the bar and so I'm wondering if the bouncer was friends with the blonde female. Either way, I did not feel comfortable nor safe in that environment so I left and I don't plan on going back. Really disappointed. read more

The single best dive i've ever been to. The bartenders are excellent at what they do, unbelievably fast given how insanely busy it gets. This is definitely a dive bar but has some decent rustic charm and a fair amount of activities to help keep you and some new or old friends entertained. As with most dive bars the experience depends on who else is hanging out which can be a mixed bag here. The beer selection is decent and they have a decent amount of taps. The food seems to be mostly deep fried frozen type items so keep your expectations realistic and have fun. There is no menu or tap list so you'll have to take a look at the tap handles and at wall board for food. These type of places seem to be rapidly disappearing in the PNW with the rising competition and real estate costs going through the roof so enjoy an old time tavern experience while you still can. read more

Cascade West is a really cool old-style bar and pool joint. - Large bar, plus a smaller inside fire-pit bar and loads of various size tables. This is possibly the grooviest bar in town in terms of ambiance. - Several pool tables, some arcade games, other stuff. - A good number of beers on tap but no beer list! You either need to ask (and get told to look at the tap handles) or just look at the tap handles first. They need a beer list; my eyesight isn't what it used to be. On one visit, I inquired about one of the taps as the handle had only the brewery name on it. The bartender didn't know what kind it was and had to go in the back and check. Turns out is was a 9.5% ABV beer! They need a beer list. It can be a white board; I'm not picky. - No printed menu but there is a white board for that, albeit one partially obscured by a condiment tub. It's located to the left of the bar. The menu is not terribly vegetarian friendly. - Weird parking lot. The left side is lined with spaces angled towards the back but there's no exit in the back. You have to back out and turn around, which is mildly irksome if the lot is packed. It would be good if they could negotiate a deal with whoever owns the lot behind the bank to allow one-way egress into that lot. Overall, I like the joint. And I'm a brewpub kind of guy. read more

Bartender Shawn was amazing, super busy on a Monday night but he was right on making sure our drinks where full. Made sure to make us feel at home even though he could tell we where not locals. I am a beer drinker so priority is a full beer, watching the mixed drinks being made I can say that the pours are great. I leave the review at 4 stars because of a limited night menu for food, but from what my Lyft told me and Shawn told me this place has an amazing menu during the day. Food is really good to excellent, premises are clean and well decorated, staff is friendly and easy to converse with. Lottery machines, pool table, lots of TVs. Patrons know each other. I came here 2/3 nights I was in Bend. On a Thursday it was really busy when we were here around 8:30-10pm. They played country music. Friday around the same time it was much slower and they played 80's music. There are several pool tables. They have food, but I did not try anything since both times I came in after dinner. There is a smoking deck outside. The bathrooms are clean. The interior reminds me of my favorite bar at the coast, lots of wood beams with a rustic vibe. read more

5 breakfasts for $5 - quality food. We were a bit unsure of this place when we got there this beautiful Sunday morning. It was just after 9 and the door was locked. As we sat in the car avoiding the cold trying to find something else on the Yelp App, somebody finally came to open the door at 10 after. Once we got inside the place was empty of course and it stayed empty the entire hour. For starters we had a blood mary at the blood mary buffet style bar. A few different mixes along with all kinds of garnishes. Not the best blood mary in town but it did the trick. Once we sat down there was a menu on the table for breakfast reading "5 for $5 breakfast menu". I ordered the bisuits and gravy while Jen got the 3 pork chops and eggs with home fries. The service was quick and OMG the serving was huge. The biggest $5 breakfast I have ever had. The B&G were 2 open face biscuits with a meaty gravy and home fries on the side. The gravy was quality, much better than most and the potatoes were tasty. The pork chops were good too and the eggs were cooked perfect. Next time we go we will share a plate. Although we ate it all we are both just about in a food coma, comparable to a Thanksgiving feast. The bartender was nice as was the cook who came out and asked how the food was. Why do they always ask while your mouth is full? I don't know if they serve breakfast daily or not but if it is Sunday morning, get over there and get a quality breakfast at a very good price. read more

Watch out for your seats cuz if your up at the bar ordering it will get taken. Bloody Mary bar had plenty of options. First go to the bar they will give you your glass with house vodka and ice for $5 (upgrade your vodka for an up charge) then head to the BMB and choose from a multitude of Bloody Mary mixes and a plethora of garnish; shrimp, bacon, marinated artichokes, green beans wrapped in salami, and the list goes on and on. They also have pint size mimosas a limited breakfast/brunch menu; burgers to breakfast burrito. Bingo, come prepared with cash and be prepared for some good size pots to be won. We rocked out to Jethro Tull on the juke box in this nostalgic old saloon. This is a kid free zone... 21 and older. Someone sold this to me as THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN. So, naturally, we had to try it out. I enjoyed it - crispy skin and juicy meat and LOTS of pieces. They came out with some large wedges. Was it the best fried chicken? not good enough to make me come back all the way from Los Angeles to have it. But if I am in the area, I will come back. The mini corn dogs were the surprise of the evening. We actually had ordered the pretzels but they were out so we changed it to corndogs. Another thing to come back for is $6 dollar pint of stiff mixed drinks. We definitely don't have those in Southern California. read more
