I'm always sure to stop in whenever I find myself in Bend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is such a vibe, it is decorated amazingly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktails and snacks are always delicious. Love that they showcase different local artist on a rotation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music they place also compliments the aesthetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A must try in Bend.

Found this place on Yelp and it definitely has a good vibe to it. There is a bar located on the 1st and 2nd floor. Service was great and they several options on tap. We came on a Sunday when it wasn't busy and really enjoyed the atmosphere.

    G&T and a beer, poured in a 400ml jar.

Small, somewhat tight spot downtown with a very chill ambiance. - Two levels with a bar in each. The upper level is slightly bigger (the space as well as the bar). The lower level seems like an overflow - the bar sometimes isn't even attended. Which is not a problem - you just go upstairs to get a drink. - Seating is eclectic, very much a lounge atmosphere, particularly upstairs where there are cushioned long seats. - Velvet has a full bar and offers specialty drinks along with the usual libations. Small beer tap list. - They have a limited menu although what they have is generally good. It changes, of course. This week they only had Jackaroo Aussie pies (apparently Velvet bought up the remaining inventory from Jackaroo, which is going out of business). Regular menu to resume after those are gone. - Fairly low-key music, although that might not always be the case, I don't know. - With the small space, it can get extremely crowded and in these days of covid, I won't go there during busy times. The servers can get overwhelmed with a packed house too. - With the small, probably crowded narrow space, and with the upstairs being the better level, I can't recommend Velvet for the mobility-challenged. A-OK; definitely a different sort of bar than most.

Got a vermouth and cider which were both tasty. Bartender was very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibes were nice, not too much seating of course but when we went it wasn't too busy so we didn't have an issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be going back!

The Blueberry Velvet drink has Oregon blueberries in it. Light and sweet summer drink.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a hidden gem, it's small but has an eclectic, speakeasy sort of feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had interesting drinks, we tried the Blueberry Velvet which was refreshing, not too sweet and had Oregon blueberries in it. They had appetizers and sandwiches as well. The soft pretzel with cheese sounded good to me. Worth checking out if you're in Bend.

One of the nicest bars in downtown Bend with amazing specialty cocktails. I would recommend going earlier because it gets super crowded in here. There is an upstairs and downstairs bar to order at and the inside has the best aesthetic. There are cool mirrors everywhere, wooden furniture, walls and floors, tons of plants, lamps and mood lighting. My all time favorite cocktail is the blue velvet which has vodka, Yerba matte, and blueberries. A lot of the cocktails almost taste like health elixirs with all of the unique and natural ingredients! They also make a mean Moscow mule.

Wine and old fashioneds share the same glasses. No discrimination .

Great bars and cocktails, elaborate selection. Jazz on a Thursday... Friendly staff and clientele. Went for 1 drink, stayed for 3!!

Hooooly cow, these drinks pack a punch! Our bartender pointed out the happy hour menu around and we went with the Blue Velvet. Sheesh! The vodka soaked blueberries were no joke, if you pick them out of your drink & pop a few in your mouth, it's like getting 2 drinks in one. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. We got a little tipsier than we had intended, curtesy of the "dangerberries" as we teasingly called them. All in all, it was a lovely experience in a super cute spot! We meandered around downtown then made our way back to Velvet later in the night. Our second visit was a bit shocking as our cozy cove had turned into a total rager- bouncer & all. It was by no means bad, just not my scene. If you're looking for a tasty drink & chill atmosphere, this is the spot if you come before 9! If you want some music & a jam packed spot with lots going on, show up later in the night & have some fun!

A cool place to enjoy a cocktail indoors or outdoor. It has the nice vibe feel to it. The bartender is pretty good and quick in getting out the cocktails. I enjoyed the whiskey sour here. We had a good time sitting outside enjoying the nice weather.

    Interior decor, cool vibe!

Follow the alley. Trust me…read more You know those places you stumble into and immediately think, "Yep...this is my kind of spot"? That was San Simón for me. At first, walking down the alley in downtown Bend, I honestly was not sure what we were about to find. Then we started seeing little fire pit pods, heated huts, glowing candles, and people tucked away having cocktails. It instantly felt cool without trying too hard. Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.

I was served by a tall male bartender who was incredibly personable--we talked quite a bit, and honestly, I'd go back just for that experience alone. Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.

Let's just start out with the atmosphere.... This place is just covered in craft store plants and Amazon decorations. No character nothing special. Now I could've gotten past that if the drinks were OK. I didn't have super high hopes, but I was very excited to find a Tiki Bar in Bend while I was traveling for work. So I started out with just a classic Mai Tai after looking over the menu and being pretty disappointed that it's just the most basic "tiki" drinks in existence. The Mai Tai was flat out awful, and I mean AWFUL. It tasted like water mixed with lime juice. No alcohol taste in anyway, and not even a drip of Orgeat taste. It is so bad that it upset me, and it's completely clear like water. I did decide to stay cause I needed a break from the long week of work, but I just went straight to rum straight. I could've overlooked this, if there was even any slight conversation at the bar with the bartenders, but they had no interest in talking to the people that were there, three of the people at the bar were employees, and the entire time was just them talking together about how much they don't like rum or even the drinks on the menu. Wild. Past that they were talking about how they store their juices, and that they don't date label them in any way or throw them out after a certain amount of days, they just come in and taste them to see if they've gone bad. Get the f*** out of here.... A quick Google search will show you that most citrus juices start to oxidize within the hour, and orange and pineapple are not far behind... Don't even come here and give it a try, just go somewhere else.... This place should not be in business.
