They definitely got the microbrews on tap, but it's lunchtime and I got things to do today. IPA later peeps! In Bend for work and staying nearby, I had to check out River Pig Saloon, and it delivered. The place was packed for a Wednesday night, loud and rowdy in the best way, with western night and line dancing going on. The decor fully leans in, big buffalo mount and plenty of wall trophies, plus TVs everywhere. Even with the crowd, the two-person staff were hustling, my food came out fast, and my waitress checked on me twice before it even hit the table. I grabbed a Stagg Jr 2.5 oz pour at a very reasonable price along with wings and curly fries, hot, crispy, and exactly what I needed. Plenty of bar seating, tables, and high tops in the back, but come early or plan on the upstairs. My friend and I went to watch the Super Bowl. When we arrived, all but one table was reserved and we were there a couple of hours before the game. A server had put her belongings on a tall table and she gave us the table. We ordered drinks. I had the wings and my friend had the chicken tenders. I requested crispy wings and they delivered. So me and my partner were looking for some late night eats and some drinks near our Airbnb and River Pig Saloon came up. The pictures looked promising and the reviews seemed positive and great. Let me tell you something, this bar is very special and a gem! Our "waiter", Gus, who we thought looked a lot like Zach Bryan () was a delight; so nice and welcoming and attentive. As for the food, we ordered the nachos with pulled pork, the jalapeño poppers, and the bison burger. Honestly hands down the best bar food we have had in a long time!! The nachos were plenty to share and that Smokey pulled pork, was a great addition. The jalapeño poppers were immaculate, smoky, and surprisingly the peppers weren't that hot! And the bison burger, my oh my, it was cooked to perfection and dressed up exquisitely. We are from LA, and we just loved the vibes, the customer service and the food! Tonight my best friend and I were just enjoying a very casual night out and so we decided to go to the River Pig Bend because we've been there before and we've had great experiences in the past and honestly, we had a pretty good overall experience tonight. However, when it came to paying our tab, we finished the transaction with a generous tip and the bartender walked away to serve other customers and we realized our card didn't process the entire payment and we had four dollars left over (it was one of the mobile phone "cash registers"). Not a huge deal at all as we had the funds they just needed to be transferred over. I spoke to the other bartender and said "hey our transaction didn't go through all the way we've been having banking issues. Can we finish paying out the four dollar charge?" He was kind of weird about it, but then he let us. So we pay the the four dollar leftover tab and we don't add a tip because we assumed that we had tipped before not realizing that it hadn't been added to the original charge as it didn't go through all the way. The bartender starts giving us a bunch of crap (causing a little bit of a scene) and stops us before we leave to say, "your card declined because you don't have money, sorry". And that rubbed us the wrong way and made us feel really crappy about ourselves unfortunately. For one we had been great patrons and had talked up the bartenders. We also had ordered a few drinks and ordered food and we were clearly not drunk nor sloppy the entire time we were there. We were just trying to pay out our tab and trying to do the right thing. Obviously there was the miscommunication of the tip, but instead of addressing that in a professional understanding, the bartender made us feel like we were broke pieces of trash and made us feel ashamed for being there. Things could have been communicated in a way more respectful and professional manor instead of just assuming that we "didn't have money to pay our tab". Clearly we would have not gone out and bought drinks if we didn't have the money to do so. We are just sooo disappointed and feel so disrespected by the staff at River Pig and we will not be going there again. read more

Went here this morning to try brunch and watch some football. I had looked at the menu online and was looking forward to several of the brunch options. When we arrived we were told the menu is not up to date and only 3 items for brunch, one of which was a burger. I'm sorry but a burger is not brunch food, that's lunch or dinner. I don't want that at 10am. The waitress was nice but barely came to check on us. The food was ok but I will not be going back. I'm sure it's fine just for drinks but would not recommend their food. Stopped in here while on a little break in Central Oregon we were down the street and lovely little hotel. They provided bikes, so we went for a little ride and toured the local goods. Came across this place and of course the other half of me had to get some weird healthy food as I went and got a fried chicken sandwich across the street stayed for a little bit enjoyed a drink and some food. The place was loud. The place was packed people work in their wild, and it definitely seemed very fun and high energy. Even for earlier in the afternoon must've been only six or 7 o'clock. Great decor great vibe and definitely a lot going on. Now I will admit that this point in my life, I seem to slow down and the same wild energy doesn't appeal to me as it once did. This place definitely seemed very happening and I'm sure it would've been a blast night people working there definitely were the icing on the cake and it really felt like one of those loud roadhouse Kind of bars we can only imagine. I would definitely say it looks like a fun night if you want to get rowdy, get some drinks in here and hang around the local walking scene. I don't normally write reviews, but I'm leaving this for the sake of them, hopefully trying to improve. The bartenders seemed great and friendly, nothing wrong at all with the atmosphere. But I was one of five people in there, and my steak frite tastes like it was sous vide. There was no crust, no salt that I could really taste other than a light amount. The fries had herbs on it and Parmesan, however none of this was made up with the "peppercorn sauce" that was served with it; of which tasted like slightly brown butter, nutmeg, and cinnamon.. I don't use ketchup, but I used ketchup to coat the bites I took. I'm sorry guys, but this was piss poor. read more

The food service was slow and inconsistent but it was clear that ownership has left them understaffed. Honestly the food was decent but some people in our group got food 1 hour before the last of us. My friend & I had lunch here today. It was awful; food & service. My friend had the "Oregons Best Salad Bowl." It was served in a small bowl, a lot of arugula, a few shreds of carrot & a sprinkling of quinoa. It did not have the ingredients in it that were listed on the menu. I had the "Sweet & Bitter Fish & Chips, a weird name." The coleslaw had no dressing on it, just shredded cabbage. The fish was over-fried and so were the curly fries." I ate one piece of fish and left everything else on the plate. The waiter checked on us once because he had dropped off another order., otherwise we never saw him. One of our favorite places in Old Mill and Box Factory. The Bend location very much fits into the Bend lifestyle, I think this may be more of a locals place but we see the outsiders in here as well. You can get your hair cut, drop in Tokyo Starfish and get dizzy, pole dance, buy some expensive Danner boots, and get great drinks and a well prepared meal at the The Pig in Box Factory. If you don't know what Box Factory is, well it's a hot mess with no parking but it works, go visit. Location, so good in the Box Factory really like the openness and decor. Outdoor seating with a crematorium or something on the patio. I think that is where they stuff all the jerks on a busy night. Staff, amazing, Rebecka is a rock star and I think she should run for president. Food, Well prepared with thoughtful presentation. Taste is perfect for me but maybe not too great if you're trying to drop a few pounds or in super model training, just don't get the fries, they are killer. Been to the one in Portland and decided to check this one out. Location is awesome (literally steps away from multiple bars if you're feeling frisky), cool old school decor and a stereo system that makes you wonder where the band is hiding (seriously, if they put a band upstairs and did a dance floor on the lower level they'd make a killing!). We tried a starter of felafel fritters and shared shrimp tacos. Fritters have a great herb base to them but are basically a fancy hush puppy (that was the description someone else gave me).
