I always loved seeing their flowers as I drove by. I never did stop by, and now I live in Hillsboro. It's not that far of a drive, but I don't drive by very often anymore. Well, I saw a water color painting class event on Facebook being held at Blooming Junction. My sister and I have been really getting into doing water color painting. I signed us both up. I was excited not only for the class, I was really interested in checking out what Blooming Junction had to offer! I'm so glad this opportunity presented itself. Such a lovely nursery, all the plants looked so healthy and well cared for. It's much more than a nursery though. There was a market to buy fresh produce and other sundry items. I was delighted to find Bubbies brand pickles. I find this brand at other stores, but the dill relish has been illusive. I was just thinking to myself this morning while making chickpea salad how I wished I had Bubbies Dill relish..and lo and behold I find it here! So happy! My sister and I strolled around before our class started. Bought a drink in the market to sip on throughout the class. There was a water cooler also in the workshop area. We had fun getting in touch with our creative side! After class ended, we strolled around some more. I ended up getting the Bubbies relish and strawberries. They were so sweet! On top of that on weekends they even have food carts in the center atrium, so you can pick up food and sit or walk around the grounds. We recently took an herb class here, and I would highly recommend it. Not only do you walk away with a big container of 4 different herbs of your choice. The staff, Jay, running the class is very friendly and knowledgeable. Depending on what other classes they have, we'll definitely be back to try them.

They have a variety of lovely garden plants, seeds, and local artisan treasures. They make their own hot sauces too; they offered samples of several and I was impressed by the variety of flavors. I saw jams and pickled goodies, local wines, candles, jewelry, wheat and rye flour, and even a shelf with books written by a local author. They mentioned that they plan to have fresh tomatoes and peppers a little later in the summer. The family has a regular booth at the Saturday Hillsboro Farmers Market and Sunday Orenco Market, and recently opened up this shop at the main homestead. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.

Right off the bat I was greeted by friendly staff who gave me the lay on the land. There is the nursery part and two private gardens that are accessible for meandering. The views are incredible if you go on a clear day! I think prices were actually really comparable to what you pay at 7 Dees or Blooming Junction. There were a few bigger and pricier things but most gallons were $15-17, and some smaller quarts or 4 inch for less than $10. Sounds like they grow and propagate lots of things in-house. (Dahlias everywhere!) I left with half a dozen plants and a list of things to work into the backyard master plan for when that gets shaped up.
