We stayed across the street at Main Street B&B and this place was recommended for dinner. We had…read moredinner here both nights of our trip lol. We split a thin crust pizza and garlic cheese bread the first night. The pizza was delicious with a great crust. The garlic bread and the included red sauce for dipping was phenomenal. The second night, my husband got the same pizza and I tried their manicotti, along with more garlic cheese bread. The manicotti wasn't my favorite, so I'd get their pizza or try another pasta in the future. Our server was super nice and answered my questions and the ambiance of the place indicated you will feel comfortable in shorts and tees like we were in, but you can also dress fancier and feel good.

The place deserves a 3.9, but I only gave it a 3.0 as it committed an unpardonable sin: the credit…read morecard surcharge (or as they call it here: "ADMIN FEE"). Accordingly the Merchants Payments Coalition the credit card surcharge/admin fee, has increased from 2.02% in 2010 to 2.35% in 2024. Now while I agree this seems a little high, it's not catastrophic, and I have trouble believing this 0.33% increase has directly led to this brave new world of bifurcated billing: one price for cash and second price that is somewhat more than 0.33% greater. Well it has at the The Brick Oven, as I was charged 3.75% (see photo). If your going charge me more to use my credit card, then you need inform me. And as the only thing I really demand from capitalism is transparent pricing, do owners really want to start off my dining experience with a review of how it ends? Well instead this place chose to avoid this checkered conversation by annotating the bottom of my bill accordingly. Dining here was supposed to a moment to relax with my wife and think some very Twainian thoughts, and not about conducting some financial analysis. But I guess that's the last memory the owner wants to impart. Our server (the guy who lives above the place), was excellent and I feel bad about taking the difference between 3.75% and my 2% credit card cash back out of his tip, but something must be done. Btw: Whenever I'm asked to choose between paying more or paying cash, I always have a distinct feeling it's less about saving a dollar in credit card fees and more about saving 20 dollars in taxes.

We ordered a pizza through the Casey's App, and were told the order would be ready by 1:53 p.m…read more I arrived on time, and gassed up before going in to give them a few more minutes.. when I went in I assumed my pizza was ready because the kitchen was quiet (I work in a local kitchen myself). Not only was my order not ready and waiting, it hadn't even been started. On top of that there was a fella waiting (patiently & being ignored by kitchen staff) ahead of me and his order hadn't been started either! Thennn the kitchen sprang to life. Replete with attitude, and excuses. To make things even worse, a Grandpa came in with his two granddaughters & come to find out he had actually ordered before me! The first fella couldn't wait, and frustratingly cancelled his order. Grandpa and I talked while we waited. He was in town visiting family from Kansas City and was understandably surprised by the fact that a slow, small town Casey's was having trouble getting a few orders out, when much busier stores in his neck of the woods preform far better. I agreed and shared my experience working in a fast paced, very busy pizzaria during college. Our conversation ended with "good help is hard to find" of course. The only employees that seemed to care about our situation (by now two more families had come in and were waiting as well), were the cashiers on duty. I didn't catch both of their names, but the most helpful of the two was named Ashley. They genuinely wanted, and tried to help. Model employees both. My order was finally ready around quarter after two. I realize that 20 minutes longer isn't an extremely long period of time to wait, when a place is busy, but it of course wasn't. Not when I arrived and caught them slacking anyway. A piece of advice; if you're not ahead in a kitchen, you're already behind!
