And since we don't know anything about rum, it was also a learning opportunity. We indeed tasted quite a variety of rums - interesting to taste the differences in them - and a few cocktails as well as a anise liqueur mixed with rum ( this was quite yummy) that Debbie explained was a common drink in this area. The restaurant was El Asador. It was a very cute place decor wise. We enjoyed the food and there was plenty of it. First was a skirt steak ( tender, well seasoned and perfectly done) with a yucca and sweet potato combination. Then there was another course with chicken and vegetables, also very good. The highlight was the flan desert with 151 rum which was ignited to burn off the liquor. I understand the restaurants do change though and this may not be the place you go for dinner. My husband and I are not usually tour takers, we like to explore on our own, but we have liked these tours. Debbie knows what she is going to do and say, but it still seems more like your friend is giving the tour not just a tour guide and the evening seems to develop on its own as opposed to by a script. BUT she is also very meticulous in certain ways, and wants things in a certain order (and likes people to be on time). She will correct you to get things just they way she wants them. Doesn't bother me any (in fact i think it is quite amusing) but others may get their feelings hurt from time to time. Anyway this must be about the longest review I have ever written, but there was a lot going on as you can see. Bottom line is we would recommend both the night tour and the spirits of Puerto Rico if you are looking to learn something about the area.

The tour was "meh" compared to the walking tours from sandeman's. The tour is a good way to get oriented in the city but on our tight budged I would re-consider booking it. They are not only unreliable, but entirely irresponsible and lacking in credibility in an island that has very few transport options and when one fails, you can find yourself stuck for hours with no way back to your hotel or accommodation. They are incredibly unreliable and could care less if you get stuck in a deserted part of the island (of which there are many). I stayed in the W Hotel and asked for a taxi to Esperanza, where there are several great local restaurants. The ride going was fine, and I asked the driver for the number to this transport service. When I needed a ride back to the W, around 9:30 pm, I called this service and they told me they'd send a ride immediately. Instead, I waited over an hour and a half , and was left stranded (from 9:30 to midnight at which point the restaurant strip in Esperanza was desolate) despite calling more than three times to find out when they were coming or what was going on. Eventually the manager of this terrible service picked up her phone and hurriedly gave me another number to call for a cab. I called that number and got a random message saying it was out of service. I called again 20 minutes later and finally got through to someone who sent another cab a half hour later. By midnight I finally got into a cab that told me he was doing us a "favor" picking us up after this company left us stranded. This experience left NO desire to ever return to Vieques EVER again. I frankly recommend you avoid Vieques at all cost, but if you do decide to come, please STAY AWAY from such an irresponsible transport option as this one.

We saw different sights like the Antiguo Prision de la Princessa, the Paseo de la Princesa, Fuente Raices, Paseo de Los Presidentes, Castillo San Felipe Del Morro and many other sights. The driver did Mariza did a great job getting to the places we visited safely and timely. We met the boat crew around 545pm as the ride starts at 6 and goes 90min. We paid $257 for 2 adults and 1 teenager. We left on time and the crew was great. They provide you a snack plate of grapes. Turkey sandwich wrap, baby bell cheese and pretzels. You also get water, soda or beer free as part of the tour. You get to see old San Juan, irs bldg, morrow castle, governors home, along with other sites. The crew of 3 has a captain, first mate and tour guide. The play music in between sites and bring the tour group into conversations on history, where they are from snd if they are celebrating anything. We had a 60 year old birthday and ppl vacationing from all over the world. The tour was great and went about 1hr 45min.

Honestly, that's a bit pricy in my opinion, but it's worth the money if you don't want the hassle of driving yourself. You are literally paying for someone to drive you to the attractions and that's it though. Our tour guide didn't visit the cave and didn't swim at the waterfall. The cave and waterfall were enjoyable experiences. The two star rating is primarily for the service provided by our tour guide Angel. Angel arrived promptly. He was an affable, young handsome twenty something. He picked us (party of 2) up in a minivan and said there'd be another two people joining us. He picked up another couple at a nearby hotel. The other couple were of Puerto Rican decent and one of them was a native of the island. We sat in the back of the van adjacent to the rear speakers, the male tour guest sat in the middle of the cabin and his girlfriend sat in the passenger seat. Angel and the other couple laughed and talked the entire trip in Spanish. Angel also blared loud Spanish rock/pop music throughout the ride without regard for us (the customers). He made no attempt to include us in the conversation and only talked to us a few times the entire day. Once was while helping us order lunch and another time was while the other couple was swimming at the waterfall. (My sister and I didn't swim) He also talked to us before picking them up and after dropping the off at their hotel. Other than that it was as if we were invisible. Generally speaking, it's not the job of the tour guide to entertain guests so I don't care that he didn't talk to us. It didn't bother me that they were speaking in Spanish either. My problem was that Angel didn't provide the same level of service to ALL of us that day. He seemed to forget that he was working. He wasn't hanging out with his friends for the day. I get that he probably had a cultural connection with the other tourists, but that shouldn't have affected the way he did his job. At one point we got out of the car and all walked towards the waterfall. Angel began to point something out to the other tourists in Spanish. It seemed to be about the location, but he was clearly talking to them since he was well aware of the fact that we did not speak Spanish. I thought that was a bit rude because at that point he was blatantly excluding us from the conversation. Either make an effort to include everyone or don't talk to anyone at all. We were all tourists... we all PAID for the same experience. If the other couple had been white or another nationality (not of Latin/Hispanic decent) then Angel's behavior would've been different. My point is that it shouldn't matter who is on the tour. Everyone should be treated the same. Angel also drove much too fast at times in my opinion. He took curves and turns daringly fast without regard for how we (the paying customers) may have felt. The attractions were far from the city in an extremely mountainous region. The ride was bumpy with a lot of twists and turns. On two occasions I saw him cut drivers off as they were trying to merge on the highway. I don't think that he was purposely being reckless. I just don't think he's even aware of the way his driving may impact the tourists he encounters. In my opinion, he drove the way many young guys drive... fast and fearless. The problem with that was he was WORKING. He wasn't cruising with his buddies. He should be more conscious of his behavior and how it may be impacting his customers. I went on another tour via Tours by Locals and our tour guide provided excellent customer service. He was a careful driver, he asked us if the radio volume was ok and genuinely cared about the quality of the service he was providing. He was older though and had been giving tours for years so he understand that the needs of the customers is the only thing that mattered. I gave him a $20 tip and he earned every penny. I didn't give Angel a tip because I was unhappy with his level of service to us. He drove us to and from the attractions, but we paid for that. The tip isn't mandatory and shouldn't be expected by the service provider. It should be earned. I always tip and believe that people should do so generously or stay home so I felt bad about not tipping Angel, but he failed to earn it from US so I decided not to give him one. I did speak with a young lady from PR tours prior to the tour to confirm and found her pleasant and professional. I don't recall her name. This review isn't a reflection on PR tours or the overall experience I had dealing with them. I'd absolutely book a tour with PR Tours again in the future.

**This is a fairly long review - but highly informative!**…read more I booked an El Yunque hike with Pandora a few months ago based on some reviews I had read - and my wife and I are glad that we did! Our driver (and owner of the company) was Eddie. I got a couple of follow up texts and emails from Eddie confirming our pick-up time and a text 20 mins before we were supposed to get picked up...gotta love that follow up! We started out for the hike about 10 mins earlier than expected. We were supplied with water, soda and fruit for the trip. Along the way, we were given a lot of information - current and historical - on the areas we were driving through and the island in general. Once we got there, we watched a video on the rainforest that really tied together the information we had received on the ride in. We then trekked it up the mountain in the van until we hit the trailhead. The hike from the La Mina trail was amazing! So many photo-ops, plus there's a waterfall (wear shoes good for hiking and water of you're going to swim). The trail was mostly down-hill and paved....but it was closed at the waterfall, so the walk back was uphill and a little rough. Don't let that deter you ....We wouldn't have traded the experience for anything! After the hike and more photos on the way down the mountain (which lasted about 90 mins total), Eddie took us over to a local eatery near the airport...the food was great and cheap (even if we got the world's worst waitress! LOL). After lunch, we headed back to the hotel. Eddie asked us what we were getting into the rest of the day, so we told him we were headed to Old San Juan for the afternoon. Eddie offered to give us a ride down there (which we gladly accepted). He allowed us time to go up to our room and change before we left. He picked it's up in his personal car and drive us over...still giving us great information about the island, and also life - advice we will surely cherish. He left us near the docks - and I must say, it was a little sad ending our time with him. It was like being with an Uncle you haven't seen in a while. He really takes care of people, and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. He puts a lot of hard-work into perfecting his craft as an excursionist and it really shows. I know it has already been said in another review, but we honestly do feel like we have made a friend in Puerto Rico, and will definitely be calling WHEN we come back! My wife and I researched various tours and decided that Eddie was the one because he was willing to do a private tour with just us two to the top of the rainforest and Bacardi Factory. He went out of his way to make sure we had a blast! Our morning started with him picking us up promptly at 8:00AM at our hotel. He had fresh fruits, cold water, great service, and very good conversations. The night before he made sure we had all we needed before booking with him so we were all set as soon as we jumped in the van. He told us all about El Yunque and what we would see, while taking his time driving the crazy streets of Puerto Rico. Once parked, he made sure we stretched and took a few pics of us before starting the hike. We went through the trails taking all the time we needed since it was very muddy and wet. We went all the way to the highest rock and spent a few minutes admiring the view; then we went back down to see Mt Britton. He took a bunch of great pictures of us as we went through the trails and shared them on dropbox when we were done. After El Yunque he took us to Bebo's BBQ in San Juan which was phenomenal (he said it would be)! He then took us to the Bacardi factory and patiently waited for us to take the tour, all this and it was his birthday! We had a full day with him. He showed us interesting areas of San Juan on the way back to the hotel and we couldn't be happier! Eddie is a trusted, funny, respecting, fun, and caring tour guide! So much so that I feel we must contact him next time just to say hi and have a drink even if we do not want to go on any tours. One of the best things about Eddie is that he is VERY flexible with his schedule and he will take you anywhere (that is reasonable of course). I feel he is an excellent guide and companion which is great because Puerto Rico has gotten pretty dangerous over the years and it is best to be with someone who knows the area and the history, even if you just want to be cabbed around the island. We recommend Eddie and Pandora Tours with our eyes closed! We loved our tour!
