With a group of 10 girls, our biggest concern was finding reliable transportation, especially since Ubers are not easy to come by in Luquillo Beach. Thank goodness we met Keith on our first night--seriously, we all agreed he was sent from above! From the start, Keith went above and beyond to accommodate us. We purchased our tickets ahead however you can purchase the day of as well. There is a shuttle that takes you from the parking lot to the ferry terminal, Staff is very helpful and they run a right program. Ferry ride from Ceiba to Culebra was about 45 min There is no food or drinks sold on the Ferry but you can buy food and drinks at the Ferry terminal

Though you can buy tickets at the terminal, there is no guarantee that you will be able to do so. Tickets can be sold out; I recommend planning ahead and buying online. When you get to the Ceiba terminal, you'd see people on black shirts on podiums. They can be helpful but are not ferry personnel. They will sell you tour packages. Just be aware of this. The ferry terminal has an area where food is sold. Boarding starts 1 hour before the ferry leaves. The boarding process is very organized. They board the Puerto Rico residents first before everyone else. I came across a few reviews/videos that showed people who do not normally get motion sickness but still did because of the wavy/water conditions. Some recommended picking the ferry that only carried people without cargo, stating that those that carry cargo have higher tendency to induce motion sickness. Not sure how true this is but the ferry schedule when we went all carried cargo. Some recommended taking medication for motion sickness. I took meclizine 1 h before the departure time. When you get on the ferry, there are places where luggage are stored before you get to the seats. We stayed on the first floor. Though you won't see much here unlike on the second floor, we were fine with this. I did not get sick/dizzy (it may be because of the effect of the medicine but the fact that the rest of the passengers did not get sick as well tells me that the sea was calm. The actual ride took less than an hour to Vieques. Based on our experience, the ferry was on time, from Ceiba to Vieques and going back as well. Ferry is reliable and cheap.
