If I could give 0 stars, I would. I dropped off my Husqvarna leaf blower at Johnson's Hardware…read moreRental and Repair in Groton, CT almost 6 months ago for a warranty repair. It was still covered under the Husqvarna warranty, and when I left it with them, I explicitly agreed to pay for diagnostics if the repair wasn't covered. About a month later, they called to tell me the carburetor needed replacement and that they had already ordered the part from Husqvarna. They never mentioned that the repair wasn't covered under warranty. I was told the repair would be done within a couple of weeks, so naturally, I assumed it was covered since they proceeded with ordering the part without informing me otherwise. Two months passed without any updates, so I called to check the status. They claimed there was a delay in getting parts, so I waited. Finally, after nearly 6 months, they called to say my blower was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was blindsided -- they told me the repair wasn't covered by the warranty, and I was expected to pay out of pocket. I spoke with the Sales and Repair Manager, Gene Conley, who insisted that I had authorized the repair, citing a note in their system. The only call I ever received, though, was to inform me the part had been ordered -- nothing about the warranty status or potential costs. To make matters worse, when I expressed my frustration, Gene's response was shockingly unprofessional. He told me he didn't care if I left a bad review because they have "thousands of customers." I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Communication and customer service matter, and unfortunately, Johnson's Hardware completely failed on both fronts. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere for your repairs.

I was in a bind recently and needed a piece of 1/4 inch split loom. When I looked on the web, Ace…read morehardware of Waterford came up as a resource. I only had a limited amount of time so I wanted to be sure they had it and called the store. I was put through to a clerk named Anthony. Anthony told me they did carry it and had it in stock. Since he answered without even checking stock, I was skeptical and asked him if "he was sure they had some". Anthony again told me they did have it in stock. I drove 35 minutes, I didn't have to spare, to their store. The first clerk didn't know what I was talking about. When I mentioned I confirmed with Anthony they had it in stock, he sent me to the back of the store to Anthony. As you can guess by now, they didn't have any. What's more, it didn't appear they never even carried it as there was no place where it had been . I was so angry. It was too late to get anywhere else thanks to their laziness and lack of customer service. I called the store a couple of days later and asked to speak to the owner but was told he isn't here. The clerk I spoke to implied, the owner is never there. I left my phone number and asked to have him call me. That was over a week ago...the apple doesn't fall from the tree, I guess. While overall, I have had positive experiences with Ace Hardware stores in the past, I won't be going back or recommending this one to anyone.

I couldn't find anyone to help me find what I needed so I searched high and low until I found what I needed, which is all fine. I went to the register and placed them on the counter. The cashier asked what I had. I told her. then she asked how much did they cost? I responded that I did not know. she sarcastically said that the prices were right in the front of the bin that I got the items from. then she just stood there staring at me. as a short pause went by. I asked. Do you want me to get the price for you? she said. would you? so I went back looking for the item got the price and gave it to her. she rang me out abd I left. it's not my job to search for prices in the store abd in fact I should have told her a lower price but I'm too honest to do such a thing. in all honesty, I should have just went to Home Depot to spend my money because this establishment has zero customer service. I will never step foot in here again. the woman behind the register is a sarcastic, cocky, lazy employee that should not be working with the public.
