Oh gosh I have not gone to karaoke since well before the pandemic. I was with some friends when the topic of karaoke came up and the next thing you know we were all heading to Rowland Heights to go karaoke. We were actually at a different karaoke business but they were fully booked for the evening. The three of us scrambled and made some calls and ultimately found Cashbox KTV. When in the parking lot, I had issues finding it because they are labeled as "My Dearest." Good thing my friends saw "KTV" and waved me down! There is definitely a major language barrier. On the phone the man mentioned to my friend that there was alcohol but when we got there he said he meant we can bring our own alcohol? Awkward. So one of our friends went to get alcohol while my other friend and I stayed back to figure out the karaoke system. It was all in Chinese and even after we asked for help, he swapped something to English and most of it was still in Chinese. Looking up the songs or artists was not intuitive at all. You can't type out the full name. It simply won't come up. They have this thing call "fuzzy english" and you type in the first letters of the title or the artist. For instance, "Truly Madly Deeply" would be searched as "TMD" sooooooooo you can see how titles that only have one word were a lot more difficult to locate. Selection was also limited for the English songs. Not sure if there were scenarios where the songs didn't come up or we were just unable to look them up. The struggle was real!!! We also ordered a decent variety of snack foods. The fruit took forever to come. We suspect the owner called his wife to come out to cut the fruit. Not all of the fruits were tasty. The dumplings were lacking in flavor. The xiao long baos or soup dumplings were dry and missing its' implied soupiness. The popcorn chicken and fries were okay. I feel like we made the best of the situation but there is room to improve with their lacking confusion karaoke system and their food. Don't be afraid to ask the employees for help finding the English songs! The karaoke system isn't easy to navigate if it's your first time, but we asked for help and they showed us how to find the American/European song selection. That being said the song selection isn't too bad, but if you're trying to find an older song or slightly unpopular artists, you might not be able to find it. My friends and I booked a VIP Room in the back and it was very spacious. The couches were comfortable, they had two big tambourines for us to use, and the music searching system was easy to figure out. The lights create a nightclub-like atmosphere which is really cool to experience especially if it's your first time coming here. They don't serve alcohol here (yet?) but they allow customers to bring their own which is pretty cool (just don't overdo it, I guess). Unfortunately, they don't tell you this in person (but it's posted on the wall in Chinese...) so be sure to use up the $7 per person or else it will go to waste! I came here with 3 friends on Saturday at 2pm and it was pretty full. My friends and I got the smallest room which holds 3-4 people and has 2 mics so it was nice and cozy. The mics unfortunately had some issues because I guess the batteries were dying but they still worked, just a little weaker. The selection of songs was pretty good and they mostly update w/ the newer Chinese/Taiwanese songs but they are a little slower at updating their English songs. Fortunately, my friends like to sing super old fashioned Chinese music that is as old as them so we all had no problem LOL. In terms of the food/drinks, they are actually pretty good considering this is a KTV place and not a restaurant. We ordered yogurt green tea, passion fruit green tea, popcorn chicken and fried tempura and they are all on point and delicious. They also have full on meals here but I'd rather not be eating rice while trying to sing lol. The service was good and the cool thing is, you can order stuff from the menu on the little screen where you pick songs so you don't have to call the waitress over to your room. Two most important factors of KTV for me are sound system including mics and song selection. Both are solid here! They have almost all the most up to date American and Chinese songs. For American, they have pretty much the mainstream stuff you hear on KiisFM and 97.1. I heard other places have newer songs, but if I factor in all aspects, this place is #1 still. Come here for Happy Hour on the weekend. 2-7pm or 3-8pm. $14 per person for 5 hours of non-stop singing. YES, you heard me right. Get ready for a singing marathon. AND you get to spend $7 on drinks/food - included in the $14 dollars. What a steal. LOVE that they have two monitors now to select songs from. Warning: Coming in the evening time can be very pricey. This is one of the better Cashbox that I've been to. Most Cashbox KTV are extremely old and always in need of an update. I think this one is not bad. My friends and I came here Sat night. I'm the only person that sings Mandarin songs, so it was difficult for us to find songs we can all sing. They have some English songs, but it is in need of an update. I don't know if there's any other KTV places that offers more English songs, but there's no need in coming to Rowland/Diamond Bar area if you live in Irvine area. If you live in Irvine area, Plush is the way to go. Plush offer more English songs, so if you have a group of friends that are not FOBs, then you won't be leaving them all bored and alone. Better yet, Plush sales beer, so after a few drinks, you'll be more relax to let go of yourself and sing. Plus, everyone sounds better after you have a few drinks too ^^ read more

*Disclaimer: I am a huge karaoke fanatic I came here once with a group of friends. It's nice how you get to have your own private room to sing your heart out, embarrass yourself, etc! The room is spacious with a couple of couches for you to be comfortable. The only downside about this place is -of course- this is a Taiwanese/Chinese karaoke joint. There's an okay selection for English songs and barely any for Korean songs. The majority are Taiwanese and Cantonese songs, really. He ignored the service bell, asked us to order all the food we want at the same time so it'll be easy for him, and didn't want to return the amount he overcharged because he wanted to get off work ASAP. I will admit its pricier than other ktv places you can go to, but I've been going here for years! Place has a pretty lobby, and it gets very crowded during happy hour. Song selection is pretty good, though my friends didn't find some of the songs they wanted. I found all of mine, but then again, Cashbox is known for its extensive Chinese song lists. I tried the food for the first time, and it wasn't as good as I thought it'd be :\ Pickled pork rice/Minced pork rice: Two different items on the menu, yet they were exactly the same. Okay, so one was in a bowl and the other on a plate...It came with a thin layer of overly dry, ground pork and some cabbage, along with half of a tea egg. The tea egg was also dry and overcooked; it was like it's been left out for a bit too long. Dumplings: Skin was a bit too thick for my liking, but it was juicy inside and pretty decent. Seamen tea: Yea, don't laugh...It's also known as Peng da hai and is actually very good for your throat! ...I can still hear you guys laughing!!! Anyway, this tea was sweet and flavorful, unlike at other places like Energy, where they are very stingy with the tea and make it bland and not so great. Service was good too. I recently went here twice and it's kinda of a hit and a miss situation here. The first time I came around they made the room so freaking hot and even when we asked to make the room cooler I was still dying from the heat.-_- I was really bothered by the place because it still reeks of smoke even though there is a no smoking sign. The last thing that really threw me off was the fact that I saw a cockroach running right in front of me and I was really paranoid right after that. This all happened the first time I came here and this is probably why I rate the place so low. The second time I came here was a lot better in which we got a bigger room and it was happy hour. Although I found that the 2nd time i came here the music video seems to be in bad quality compare to my first time here but it's nothing to go crazy about. The happy hour that was from 3-8 was just swell and I would definitely come back again at this time because they have A LOT of songs that are new and old vary from English to japanese to chinese to korean. So in terms of the whole songs category it is quite up there. They use the wireless mouse for putting in songs and on the other side there is a touch screen monitor so each side has the power to put songs in but you can only use one monitor at a time apparently. Love their happy hour! For the last couple of times we went, their mics kept having problems. They recycle their batteries. Which I don't understand, if it is out of battery, it is out. But seems like they keep the old ones and use them again and again. Best time to go is during happy hour. For happy hour book a reservation for 2:00pm-8:00pm. They charge per person and the bill usually comes out to be $20 a person. A drink is included with the happy hour and if you order hot drink, it comes in a small pot which you can ask for hot wage refill as much as you want. Although the place is slightly old and very minimal decor, it still a great place for friends to sing and hangout. Chinese songs are somewhat updated and they also have English songs in their list. One of the newest Karaoke places out there. The technology is up to date, with large LCD screens, touch screen monitors for song selection, and wireless microphones. The food is delicious, so having dinner while you're here isn't a bad idea either. I don't think I've ever had a 'bad' drink there, they were always pretty good. The rooms are very new, well maintained, and nicely decorated. The minimum drink requirement is only applied during certain hours I believe.. Best to check their website for the Early Bird and Tea Time Happy House specials. They're great deals! Make sure to book your room at least a few days in advance, especially if you're planning a night or weekend. Song selection is awesome. Very up-to-date with Chinese songs, and only a little behind on English ones. They also have a lot of other languages, but I don't know about those. This is the first karaoke place that I've been to which had the actual videos of the songs that we sang. I thought that it was pretty cool :) They have many rooms to choose from and it's about $50/hour so if you come with a big group, you should be fine. I was surprised that this place didn't offer any alcohol.... so we just drank tea and sang our sober hearts out. We got a large room and I thought that our room was fairly clean and they offered a good selection of songs. They had a computer screen and mouse so you just pick the song by artist and/or song name. I thought that they had many new songs in both English and Chinese so that was a plus. However, at one point while we were singing, the computer froze.... and as they rebooted our computer, all of the songs that we selected were erased. Since they weren't able to restart the computer correctly, we ended up leaving. They did give us a 10% discount... but I think that we deserved more since they rounded up our time spent and took a while trying to actually fix the damn thing. We were there for 2.5 hours but they charged us for a whole hour. So stupid!! Besides our little computer crash situation, I thought that this place offered good service, a nice and clean environment, a large variety of drinks and food, and an organized list of songs to choose from. I have to karaoke at least once a month, and this is my go-to place! Happy hour is pretty decent, 2pm-8pm everyday for $17 per person, including one drink. During non happy hour, they charge by room size per hour and each person is required to order one drink. The song input system is simple enough. Some of the rooms here seem to have lower quality speaker/karaoke systems but if you ask to switch rooms, the workers will gladly oblige as long as there are open rooms. Rooms are relatively clean, service is usually good and friendly. There may be one or two fobby chicks with holier-than-thou attitude but it's not a huge deal. Make sure to make reservations if you plan to go on the weekend! Surprisingly, they also have the BEST popcorn chicken i've ever had...it's so juicy and perfectly fried and delicious! This place sucks donkey balls! It is wayyy overpriced for what it is. I came in with 9 people for 3.5 hours on a Friday night. They have a ridiculous rule where they required us all to buy drinks (which were $4 and up). And they don't even serve alcohol! Our bill came out to about to $44 a person. Ambiance: Cheesy, overall the place looked and felt like an old Nickel Nickel arcade (cheap flooring, old neon lights, dirty bathroom). In the front, there is an open 'party' area that people reserve. It smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when we got out. The kareoke room my group got seriously looked like it was themed as a baby's room. Song Selection: I guess the only redeeming quality about this kareoke. They do have a lot of popular songs, but some songs/artists will still be missing from their repertoire. Their song selection machine was glitchy (froze up a lot) and not very intuitive. My friends and I went to Cashbox KTV this past Friday. While we did have a good time, I think that had more to do with the company than the actual venue. The prices aren't too bad. I think it was like $28/hour so with 5 people that's less than $6/hour each. Each person is required to buy a drink or food item. We ordered a couple teas and some chicken. The chicken was decent, but I didn't really like my milk tea. The room setup was decent. However, the music system was not that good. If you can't read Chinese it is difficult to navigate. Even after you figure out what you are doing you only have a mouse to control the system. It would be a lot nicer of a keyboard was included. Rather we have to scroll through large lists to find what we wanted to sing. Once you find some songs you'd think you could have a good time, until you realize the some of the lyrics aren't even correct. Honestly you can tell the probably took the pirated music videos and tried adding the lyrics themselves. The service added to our horrible experience. When we walked in we noticed one of their workers serving a bottle of alcohol to some other customers. Being that Karaoke is much easier when drunk we asked to order some, but were told they did not serve any. But we very clearly saw them hand a bottle to other customers. We ended up just ordering our teas. However when it was time to pay the added a 15% gratuity. REALLY?!?! For 4 milk teas and popcorn chicken?!?! And normally I wouldn't complain about something like this because I regularly tip 20% on most meals, but what upset me was that they added the gratuity on the entire bill (including our karaoke time). Juiciest KTV Best KTV in town! If you are somewhere around the 60 fwy, this is the ktv to be. They have all the newest and coolest songs in English and Chinese. Inside has nice decor and clean and nice furniture. I always look forward to getting their delicious food and fresh juices made when ordered. I personally think the food and drinks here are better than a lot of cafes. Service here is awesome! They are quick and very accomodating. Even though this is the only KTV I have been to, Cashbox KTV deserves an overall high rating. This KTV offers private karaoke rooms in various sizes (small, medium, large). A small room can fit from 5-7 people will a large room can fit from 10-15 people. However, early reservations are required if you want a room during the weekend. Many reviewers are not liking the "minimum drink" rule, but it is understandable to enforce that rule. In addition, the drinks come in a large glass and is reasonably priced. Customer service is great here. The computer program made it easy for everybody to find the song they wanted to sing. Many songs are in the program, including up-to-date songs. It's the nicest KTV in SoCal... only about a year old with 20 rooms! They have a wide variety of Chinese songs as well as some newer English songs you wouldn't find in other KTVs. Whenever I go there I also look forward to the food and drinks they serve. None of that watered down tea stuff you get from other KTVs... I don't know about the chinese/taiwanese song selection, but the english one is a little sparse. They have entire discographies for SOME artists, but for some reason, popular songs of really popular artists are missing from the list. Some popular artists had 2-3 of their less popular songs while the rest are MIA. I think they're picked based on the artist/band popularity is in Taiwan; singers like Backstreet boys, Britney Spears had their entire discography on there and Super Junior's Sorry Sorry was even on there. The sound system was decent and set to an appropriate loudness considering there's no drinking going on which means less drunken shouting. Mandatory tea was below average. It's pretty watered down and the creamer is a little too strong. You get enough to last you 2 hours, but by the time the ice melts, it tastes like crap. If you stay till closing, they're gracious enough to give you 15 minutes before they shut down the system which is basically kicking you out. read more
