However, if you're a light sleeper like me, there is a specific way to play your stay here to get the best of both worlds: luxury and silence. The Room Strategy (3rd Floor Corner): We requested the quietest spot possible and were placed in a corner room on the 3rd floor, right across from the executive boardroom, which is a small meeting space. While the view was not anything to write home about because it was partially obscured by the "tent" structure near the pool, the tradeoff was perfect. Being at the far end of the hallway meant almost zero foot traffic. You can occasionally hear a faint toilet flush from a neighbor, but otherwise, it was impressively still. The room itself was surprisingly spacious for two queen beds. It honestly felt like a wheelchair-accessible layout in terms of floor real estate, even though the bathroom was standard. It was cozy, impeccably clean, and lived up to the Westin reputation for comfort. The Amenities and Vibe: The Pool: It is rare to find a hotel pool that goes down to 9 feet deep! It was kept at a perfect, cool lukewarm temperature. As a pro tip, grab a seat by the top part of the waterfall as it creates a great atmosphere. Service: I have to echo what others have said about the staff. The concierge was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating, which is impressive considering how busy they were for the holiday. Location: You really are just a block away from South Coast Plaza. It is a very short and pleasant walk to some of the best shopping and dining in Orange County. Verdict: If you want the convenience of being near the mall but are worried about the noise of a busy hotel, ask for a corner room near the meeting spaces. It is the ultimate quiet sanctuary hack. I will definitely be staying here again!

While slightly larger, it was only ocean view rather than oceanfront, which felt like a downgrade. The room has a pull-out sofa, but it is completely unusable for sleeping. There is essentially no mattress, so you feel the metal frame, and the couch cushions are collapsed. Couch pillows were also heavily stained and looked unsanitary. At $2,500 per night, this is unacceptable. The room simply could not accommodate 4 people as advertised. After 1 night, I had to leave with my 70 year old father because there was no realistic way for us to stay there another night. We were so surprised at the way we were treated by EVERY employee- this does not happen any more anywhere! From valet to check in to maid service to bellman to bar and restaurant staff. Everything was so perfect. They do have some construction going on in the front lobby area so check-in was moved to a smaller area and there was a line, but the line went fast and the employees were smiling, offering us water bottles, telling us more bottles were in our mini fridge in the room plus a free bottle of wine and handed us a glass of champagne at check-in! We were shocked actually lol Our stay was amazing. We were there for a baby shower. The shower was held in a room right off the deck where all the yachts were parked on the water. It was beautiful, the food was all delicious made by the restaurant on site. In the evening, we stopped by the bar and all the fire pits were going right next to the water & yachts. Perfect ending to a great day already. They have a free shuttle/suburban that will take you anywhere within 2 to 3 miles and pick you up. It runs 8 AM to 8 PM and that was a great addition to our stay and the drivers were so friendly. Just need to tip! The cafe food for breakfast was perfect. Lots of great pastries, try the bacon Asiago scone-obsessed! They had yogurts fruits egg bites and sandwiches as well. And coffee of course. Water stations were everywhere in the resort which was great! Pool area very nice and has a bar. Perfect. This hotel is not on the beach, but is on the water. You could have the shuttle take you to the beach w your gear and pick you up if needed. That works out perfectly. Definitely will stay again. The treatment we received was A plus!

We had put the lock on so they opened the door and could not fully come in. We immediately called the front desk because we felt so unsafe that someone would just walk into our room without knocking. We were told they might've been trying to do a turn down service and when I asked to speak to a manager they said someone would call and no one did. I tried calling the manager later that night and the line kept ringing. I also emailed to complain and have heard no response. While the hotel rooms were nice the pool felt like an apartment pool and the hotel itself was confusing to navigate and very separated. Hotel staff was not very helpful in helping navigate the hotel and a few times told us to walk somewhere that had a wall where they said there was an exit. I would not recommend staying here and have already told many people about our experience. We will never be coming back.

Worst apartment living experience I've had out of all the places I've lived…read more At first glance, this property looks attractive. resort-style amenities, nice pool area, and good marketing. Unfortunately, the actual living experience was extremely disappointing. Noise was a constant issue. Traffic noise outside was excessive, and sound insulation between units was poor enough that it was difficult to enjoy peace and quiet or get quality sleep. For a place marketed as luxury living, comfort and livability fell far below expectations. Parking was another ongoing frustration. Having family or friends visit became unnecessarily difficult because of limited parking availability. Support and responsiveness from management and on-site services also felt inflexible and frustrating at times. The move-out experience made everything even worse. Policies felt overly rigid, communication around fees lacked clarity, and the overall process left me feeling like residents are treated more as numbers than people. Compared to other apartments I've lived in, this was by far the least resident-friendly experience. I understand apartments have policies, but transparency, fairness, and resident experience matter. Unfortunately, this community missed the mark in all three areas. Trust me. My biggest mistake was living here. Don't stay here.

It is close enough to what you want and you can walk to a few great eateries. The check in was great as was check out. Our room was spacious and spotless. Located across the highway from Newport Harbor, you can walk to several restaurants and resorts. Depending on how far you would like to walk, you can walk to beautiful Balboa Island. It was a 7 mile walk to, from and around the island. I don't know if the hotel has been renovated recently but it was the nicest Holiday Inn Express we have ever stayed at over the years. You can't tell from the outside as it does look older. We arrived at 4:00pm and our room was ready. The front desk staff we felt with over the two days we were here were very friendly. The lobby and dining area were bright and spacious. Although they serve breakfast, we didn't have a chance to take advantage of this amenity. There is a beverage cooler and a small market for snacks. There is also a small outdoor pool where several people were enjoying the water. Our room was located on the 2nd floor next to the elevator but we never heard the elevator, only people getting on/off as there is a tile floor. The room was clean and nice. Coffee, refrigerator, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, etc. A lighted mirror which was very nice. The shower was bright and looked new. Sitting area, desk and a bench in the room. We thought it was great. A little lower priced than most hotels in the area and was nicer than some of the more expensive hotels.
