Went in for some help. A man came out to see what I needed. I inquired about a return and was met with a frustrated discussion where I was told it would be a huge hassle for him . He shared he would have to get a Uber and have them sent back. I was not met with a friendly welcoming energy and in fact he has total lack of empathy that was the sad part. This company sent me broken merchandise and when I called to get a replacement, it took 5 calls to reach someone, and they demanded I take a video to prove it. I took the time to do thus but there was no follow-up by Lightopia, and I had to do it again (!). I asked for a return label and refund but they refused despite their policy in writing stating otherwise. it was a $350 lamp so I agreed to try it their way (against my policy of keeping defective electrical products) and they sent me a replacement part, but ONLY if I paid for it. Zi never touched the original lamp except to plug it in. When I received the part, I installed it but it never acted normally. They try and wear you down (5 hours of my time) until you give up. This is one of those reviews that starts off with "if I could give it negative stars..." Never in my life have I had such deplorable customer service. A $1000 lamp arrived with a missing piece. OK, packed at the factory, not the seller's fault. I tried for months on end to get satisfaction. When finally they had the part sent, it was the wrong part. I then asked to return the lamp. They demanded photos to prove that the wrong part had been sent. I complied. Nothing. And by the way it takes a good 40 minutes of waiting to get anybody on the phone. The first time I called, they told me that I needed to call a different number where I waited another 40 minutes on the second number. After nearly 2 months of this nonsense they finally emailed me return labels and then told me that I had three days to get the boxes to the carrier who was shipping the lamp. So purchased on 2/7/25 and finally get labels three days before 3/31/25. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to manage that. I then called the regional manager of the lamp manufacturer to report these people. Luckily she was helpful and got me to their repair service. The gentleman at the repair service replied to my email immediately and overnighted the part for free. I now have a functional lamp no thanks to the unhelpful folks at Lightopia. Incidentally, I've since learned that Lightopia is known for coming up with contrived reasons why your returned item isn't in pristine condition so that you don't get a proper refund as a result. Good thing I didn't ultimately have to return the lamp. Moral of the story. Don't buy expensive items over the internet. You have no control over events. Better to buy locally at a brick and mortar store even if the price is higher. In this case the pittance I saved wasn't worth it. read more

Ordered a light online and was checked out with email order confirmation-now just sit back and wait for it to arrive. 2 days later, I get a suspicious email saying the order was cancelled, due to 'no fraud' with a shady link and email. It all seemed odd. When I called them (after 3 unreplied emails I sent) they said it got declined days later due to 'no fraud'...what? On the call I asked to just run the order again, using a different card maybe? and honor the first sale and price-they said they could not, what?? So I went to the site to just order again, now the light is $300 more bucks! I contact them again, to honor my original price, they would not. Seems shady, very unimpressed. read more

I never received the chandelier that was sent to me- their team was super unhelpful. Sales rep was GREAT, super friendly... her name was Reshma.. but I could never shop at or recommend Lightopia to others given my approximate 2800$ loss on a chandelier that was LOST at no fault of my own...or delivered to the wrong property at no fault of my own.. I still feel sick about this situation.. the beautiful gambit 19 chandelier.. there was no reimbursement or replacement offered by their team.. I spoke with Annette Pyles, senior manager of customer service who was inconsiderate, unhelpful and showed the least bit of empathy for a sensitive situation. She cc'd Ryan Dixon, AnneMarie Gagnon, Corey Rothgeb, John Trotter, and Reshma Madnani in her emails and told me to contact the police. I contacted the better business bureau regarding this situation and they (we) are still waiting for lightopia's response for over 2 weeks. I encourage the public to submit claims on the better business bureau website when running into similar issues/situation and to alert others on these public forums in hopes that they don't take advantage of their customers. Shame on you Annette, shame on Lightopia for this! I plan on updating this review below if their team makes this right OR responds to the BBB engagement. Received a damaged box with a $2,000 light fixture...purchased on a 20% promo. A week after it was installed the LED bulb was burnt out and shortly later another bar was blinking. It took 6 months to get a refund. I was only 1 week outside the return policy due to the extremely long wait from lightopia to follow up with the damaged box and what looked to be damaged fixture. I waited weeks for a response on next steps going forward. I had to pay 2 times to install a light fixture...since I had to purchase another fixture. They refused to send me a box so I had to wait for new light fixture to ship from another company and I had to pay 25.00 to have the box picked up at my home from ups. I requested Myles Felsings email address 2 times and was ghosted by the sales rep. I wanted him to be aware of the horrible shopping experience I had with Lightopia. I have been hunting for a nice lit bathroom mirror for months. My deadline is up, as our housewarming is this weekend. I had to settle for a floor model/demo of some sort if they would be willing to sell them at all. I know it's a long shot, but at this point I was willing to settle for a very standard mirror and at least ask. Two things were said that make my skin crawl: 1) "it's very expensive" --no questions about my budget were ever discussed, at all! 2) "we have some returns in the back, but we aren't selling them." --I'm sorry but do you not want to make $1000 sale, or is that too small potatoes for 9AM in the morning. Very horrible customer service! I ordered a pendant light for my client and she wasn't crazy about the color when we saw it in person. I have tried calling, emailing, filling out online return forms...everything. No one will reply and issue me a return label. Every time you call the returns department, it goes to voicemail and no one will return a phone call. But of course, if you want to call the sales department, they will answer! My husband and I just purchased a new home in RMV and knew that the foyer needed a statement piece so yesterday we went out looking for a chandelier. We spent the ENTIRE day looking at light fixtures and just could not find anything that felt like it would fit in our new home. As a last ditch effort (after having liked a 5k+ chandelier from Restoration Hardware), we thought about going to SOCO Mix to see if there were any home stores in that location that would have something. After walking into the first light store and describing the kind of piece we were looking for (fluid, non-traditional, one-of-a-kind), the sales person actually recommended we go into Lightopia. I don't know about you, but when another light store tells you to go to a competitor ... you have to think that there's something to this other place! Walked into Lightopia and wondered through the store before Jessica came to assist us. I told her that I saw the fixture I was in love with on their vision board, pointed it out, and immediately she KNEW who the designer was. We spent hours looking for something that resembled a "sculpture in air" and every other store we went to had no idea of what kind of chandelier we were thinking about ... and here comes Jessica at Lightopia with "oh that's Terzani." FLOORED. I'm so glad we walked in here, and would recommend working with Jessica. She really knows her stuff and is excited to talk about light fixtures with you. Even if the purchase isn't for now (we still have a few weeks to close), she took down our information, printed out an estimate sheet for us and will follow up when we're ready. This is one of the best, if not THE best lighting store in Orange County. The lighting selection is rich with design in mind. The pricing is reasonable, and sale items are a fantastic buy. We recently bought a few outdoor lights and a very unique light to fit over our dining room table. Studio Manager, Glen Rocheleau, was very knowledgeable about lighting, and specifically about the appropriate dimming switch we could use with the dining area light, and Julian Ramos couldn't have been more friendly when he was processing our purchase. The outside lights we purchased are simple, yet, so classy! If you like modern and sophisticated design, this lighting store is your go-to. I've now contacted the company four different times to either get a return or the part to fix the light. For my 200th review: I've got to review this: Usually, my Boyfriend is the designated decorator of the house. One stop here changed that. I found these unique fixtures I didn't know i couldn't live without, and got them shipped home (less stressful than inevitable airport scrutiny). I ordered Two Vanity lights for our bathroom remodel and received an acknowledgement email saying the lights were in stock but shipping and handling times were extended a bit. OK, California, I get it. Then I receive another email stating the "estimated shipping date" would be Feb 12. That would be WAY too long and I replied no, please cancel the order as I cannot wait that long. The lights are NOT in stock with Lightopia, but an outside "manufacturer". I received a prompt email reply stating "Hello, sorry for the inconvenience we will request your order cancelled and refund you once we get confirmation. Thank you" Four days later I receive notification the lights have shipped. Far earlier than I was told and after the cancellation request was stated. Now I'm told they can NOT cancel the order once it's shipped, even though it was cancelled 4 days earlier. Now I have to wait for them to arrive in holiday shipping times, have to send them back I'm betting at my cost and wait for the whole return process to go through. DO NOT do business with this company as they do not handle customers well at all. Looking like this is going to cost me money when it should not and I'm willing to bet they will not be refunding me the cost to return the lights to them and will charge me the cost to send them to me even though they had been cancelled. I had already found the lights at a better seller, so I just have no use for Lightopia at all. As a interior designer I have been using them as my go to resource for lighting since the day I set foot in their store in 2006 and now there is a second larger showroom with lots great architectural lighting displays and truly unique fixtures in Manhattan Beach. Lightopia represents a wide and varied line of manufacturers for every price point, both residential and commercial. What I really appreciate about the store is the great service, the sales staff is personable, knowledgeable and passionate about all aspects of lighting, as a design professional this is an invaluable resource.
