I've been wanting to stay in a four sisters collection for so long! We came to Newport and stayed at The Newport Beach Hotel in an "Oceanfront" room. We arrived early but they held our luggage for us as we walked around to explore. They text us when the room was ready. The pricing is PREMIUM so I was expecting a little more attention to detail with cleanliness and options in the room. The bedcover had a large makeup stain which they changed right away. The location is convenient but if you're looking for something quiet and peaceful go elsewhere. The club scene is so LOUD at night that for those of us that needed to "get away" weren't expecting. The parking lot and the sounds of the car horns over power the beautiful ocean waves and separates the hotel from the beach. I wish I would have done more research before booking because I didn't realize we would be hearing Mutts Lynch club beats and the party people all night long. The club scene isn't the hotels fault but it is a warning for whoever is reading this. The staff are great and very helpful. The room is cozy, and has great windows that slide open. The room temp is set at 68 but you can adjust it for your comfort. It would be great to have blinds that lifted from the bottom up in order to block the parking lot and still enjoy the ocean view. With that being said, the best time to open them is early morning. The windows are not tinted so close the blinds when you shower! The shower is like an obstacle course, you climb two large stairs to get in so be careful getting out! You can sit in two comfortable chairs that are placed in front of the window to enjoy the view when you're hanging out in the room. The bath products were filled halfway and for premium pricing I'd hope they'd be full to at least give the perception we were the first ones to use them. There is an extra blanket and pillow provided as well as a small fridge There is coffee and tea provided in the lobby as well as snacks and a nice simple breakfast. They have beach cruisers, beach towels and chairs to borrow. You have to sign them out. There are extra drinks in the lobby for purchase and it will go toward your incidental charges if you do. There is a couple of great bars, restaurants and sweet shops nearby. The boardwalk is booming all day and night but it's directional for ease of flow. You can play volleyball, fly a kite or going fishing at the nearby pier. I was bummed they didn't have an onsite spa or hot tub.

Beautiful and convenient location, super friendly staff, but needs some TLC. I can handle outdated and normal wear and tear, but the bathroom needed some deep cleaning. Wouldn't be as huge a deal if the room wasn't small so you literally look at the shower from every spot in the room, and with the rain and cold we were stuck inside all day. Would not stay here again for the price.

    1. Fantastic location. When booking this stay I could not decide on staying in Newport Beach or Huntington Beach, but after staying here I am so glad I chose this spot. The hotel is the last building before the beach. It is composed of a couple of buildings with a small parking lot in the middle. Book your parking or you will be out of luck as it is busy and there are only a few spaces. I preferred this location over the large hotels in Huntington as those hotels are behind the freeway. From Newport Beach Hotel there is just a small parking lot and then you are on the beach. From the upstairs sitting area in the hotel, you can watch the sunset while enjoying a drink-it's quite beautiful. 2. Amenities. We arrived a little early to check in but the friendly lady at the front desk let us store our luggage at the hotel. She texted us when our room was ready and then even walked us over to our room. They show specific pictures on their website of the rooms, so I knew what we were getting, but I was still a little surprised by how spacious it was. The suite was adorable and it felt newly decorated. We stayed in the Sailor Suite and it had everything we needed. This suite has a kitchen and the kitchen was stocked with plates and pots and pans so all you have to bring is the food. They also supply you with full size toiletries, so there is less waste which I appreciated. And they have beach chairs, beach towels and even sunscreen for guests to use. They also offer bikes for hotel guests to use (we had the nicest bike ride to Huntington Beach) 3. Friendliness Everyone we encountered at the front desk was friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. I am missing this hotel, and the beach, as I am writing this. 4. Comfort Although this is in a busy area, it does quieten down at night. We had fantastic sleeps in our room. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner did its job. Would stay here again.

The floor was gross. The second we got there. Our feet were black. The beds were awful, even for my kids. The bed frame in the master was disgusting. It's wicker and looks like it had never been cleaned. Walls are paper thin. You can hear everything. Def a party scene area. 35 bucks charged if you don't do the dishes. Which they don't have any dish soap. No extra garbage bags. I felt like parking was included only to find out at check out it's 30 bucks per day. Would've been cheaper to park in public parking. The only thing good about this place is it's location so close to the beach. I chose this place due to other reviews on hotel.com. Not impressed.

Stayed here for a couple of days. Got room 101 which has amazing oceanfront views and a huge window that opens to see the surfing and fun people watching. Has a ceiling fan,tv,a bathtub/shower combo. Even the shower has a view of the ocean if you want it too! No microwave or mini fridge and must use steepish stairs to access upper levels. But a nice worker helped me with my heavy luggage. I didn't get his name.(I tipped him though) gets kinda loud on Friday and Saturday nights because of the super close proximity to restaurants but just close the windows. All the food you could dream of is in walking distance. MAKE SURE YOU GET A PARKING RESERVATION IN ADVANCE!! It's a beautiful old hotel amongst all the food and ocean you want!

I stayed at this boutique bed & breakfast hotel on Lido in Newport bc I was having some construction done on my house. I reserved a Regatta King Spa room w/ a bit of a view. The plusses are the updated motif, and close proximity to the water, good bars & some average restaurants. In addition, the room is large and it is surprisingly quiet, although Mutt Lynch's is just a couple of doors down. The minuses are the small parking lot and lack on a fridge in the room. I'd stay here again if I was having work done on my house. However, if you are in from out of town, this spot works very well if you want to hang by the beach. Popular tourist attractions like Disneyland and Knotts are a bit of a hike.

This was our first time staying here. The location is perfect. There is a great view, restaurants close by and a few next door, the pier to walk, a donut shop steps away, ice cream near by, and a great view. The hotel offers bikes for free! They have a nice complimentary breakfast, hot cocoa and towels and sun tan lotion available. They have games in the comfortable and cozy lobby and a great staff. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Anything you need is there. We can't wait to be back. Thank you!!!

The view from the sun room

This hotel is ON THE BEACH, literally a step away. It is in the middle of newport central, with shops just a step away. Parking isn't too expensive and conveniently just a walk down stairs away from the room. The room was very clean, and the entire staff was very helpful, providing free beach toys, food, and anything else at a simple request. Oh, the mints are AMAZING, and offered right at the front desk.

One thing I noticed before booking the first time was that a lot of the reviews are from before the property became VEA. In my opinion, those older reviews don't do the current resort justice. The transformation has been impressive, and the experience today reflects that. What really sets VEA apart is the people. Great hotels are built by great teams, and the staff here consistently goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. A special thank you to Mike, Brett, Jen, Tyler, Calvin, and Kieu. Whether it's at the front desk, around the resort, or behind the bar, everyone is genuinely friendly, remembers returning guests, and creates an atmosphere that makes you want to extend your stay. The bartenders deserve a special mention as well. They make the Edge Pool Bar and Lounge a couple of our favorite places to unwind in the evenings, with great drinks, engaging conversation, and outstanding service. Another highlight has been the live music. If you're lucky enough to catch Drew Cole Music during your stay, don't miss it. We've seen him perform three different times at VEA, and each show has been fantastic. It's one of those little touches that elevates the entire resort experience. Between the beautiful property, outstanding service, relaxing atmosphere, and live entertainment, VEA has become one of our favorite Marriott resorts in Southern California. We already look forward to our next visit.

You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

They also offer nightly turndown service, which added such a thoughtful and luxurious touch to our stay. Our room was huge, beautifully kept, and had a balcony overlooking the pool. The entire resort was clean, elegant, and well maintained. Even though they were renovating the lobby during our stay, it did not take away from the experience at all. The breathtaking ocean views, beautiful landscaping, and elegant atmosphere make this one of the most stunning resorts in Southern California. Room & Platinum Benefits As Marriott Platinum members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean View Bungalow without even asking. While we weren't upgraded to a suite despite availability, the bungalow was absolutely incredible. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured a huge bathroom and a private ocean-view patio that quickly became our favorite spot. Waking up to the ocean view every morning was unforgettable. We also appreciated the complimentary self-parking and the $70 dining credit, which added even more value to our stay. ‍ The Spa Was a Hidden Highlight One of the biggest surprises was that all resort guests receive complimentary access to the spa facilities even without booking a treatment. This ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. We enjoyed the spa lounge, pool, sauna, and relaxation areas at no extra cost. The spa staff were incredibly attentive--they even kept refilling my apple cider several times while I relaxed. The fitness center is conveniently located next to the spa, making it easy to enjoy both. Resort Amenities The circular Coliseum Pool is absolutely stunning, with panoramic ocean views and plenty of space to unwind. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely provided five-star service. Another feature we loved was being able to park directly outside our bungalow, which made everything extremely convenient. Breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill We had breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill one morning. The setting is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the pool and ocean, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. However, the food itself was just average, especially considering the price. We ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict ($48) and the Breakfast Burrito ($26). Both were decent but nothing particularly memorable. You're really paying for the spectacular views, elegant surroundings, and resort experience rather than exceptional food. Crystal Cove Shuttle The resort offers a complimentary shuttle to Crystal Cove Beach. We personally didn't find it worthwhile. During our visit, the beach was crowded and not very clean, so we stayed for only about 15 minutes before calling the shuttle to return to the resort. Honestly, Pelican Hill itself is the destination. We'd much rather spend our time enjoying the pool, spa, restaurants, and incredible ocean views. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a relaxing luxury getaway, romantic staycation, or special celebration, Pelican Hill is an excellent choice. The accommodations, service, spa, beautiful grounds, and unforgettable views made this an amazing experience. The food may not always match the luxury price tag, but everything else absolutely does. We would happily stay here again.

Listen here Americans, this is a hard review to make…read more Standard king room, the bed is hard as a rock, the pillows are so soft your head lays on the hard bed. The only reason I will never recommend this place is how bad the mattress and pillows are. Myself, my female partner are sore at the hips from this bed. As side sleepers, it is the hardest mattress I've experienced in some time, probably the same as a motel 6. The mattress is seriously as hard as the floor, the pillows are worthless. The nights I stayed, I used a couch cushion as a pillow because the ones they give you are worthless. I balled up 2 pillows and it still didn't support my head. The bed is like sleeping on a floor. My hips are hurting today from the poor mattress... the pullout bed has a metal bar that runs through it. So if you think that's a better idea you're wrong. I stayed 2 nights, standard king room, 10th floor. And I and partner barely slept because of discomfort. Not to mention the doors slam. So any time someone leaves the room in the hallway, you can hear it or watch your walls. Be prepared for loud slamming noises all night and early in the morning as people come and go. Oh, and we ordered 2 orders of chicken strips and French fries at 9:45pm. The room service arrived at 10:30 and they brought one order. I asked where the second order was. The room service guy say "you must have made a mistake and ordered only one" I showed him the receipt, two orders, 12$ each...he only brought one and only charged for one... he then said "well you're the last order of the night, I can make more if you want?" I said "no, it took you 45 minutes to bring this one, and you only brought half of what we asked" I can't wait until 1am for chicken strips and French fries. overall great location, 90% of the employees are great. The mattress is the sole reason I cannot tell my family members to stay here I see lots of posts about the pool experience so I will address. The pool with the slide is heated. The pool that was told is adults only was much colder, and... to no surprise is filled with kids and families too. We did both pools. So my wife wanted time away from our kids and went to the small adult pool first, and it was filled with unsupervised kids snorkeling (no lifeguard) and drunk adults celebrating a wedding. We chatted with the adults and they were drunk and laughed with us that "this is suppose to be the adults pool" and the women felt uncomfortable in revealing thong type bathing suits, drinking alcohol, around kids. The kids pool with the slide is also ridiculous because people show up early. Lay out towels and hog all the chairs. So when we went down, every chair was taken but like 25 people were in the pool. We found one chair, ONE CHAIR, that was not covered with a blue towel, for us to take turns sitting in. Keep in mind, there were more chairs than people in the pool. No one policed this area and allowed other guests to lay out there stuff, hog and steal all the chairs, more than they needed. A standard couple like us was left out and treated like trash because of the hotel not doing their job. One guy will lay out 10 towels across all the chairs and they won't even use them. So go to the adult pool? Yeah it's filled with kids too. Cannot recommend this place as much potential it has because the mattress and pillows are that bad. I can handle the small stuff like screwing up a room service or jerks taking more chairs than they need. I cannot get over the bed and the lasting discomfort it has given me and my wife. The best thing I can compare this sleep situation to, is remember being a kid, having a sleep over at a friends house? And you sleep on the floor with a crappy sheet and pillow? Yea, it's like that. Honestly, if I was 15 years old and played at the beach all day it's fine. But I'm an adult and not at a sleepover on the floor of my friends house... and paid over 1000$ FOOD: Is another question asked and posted about. Room service, the pool bar, the beach bar the hotel restaurant is all the same menus, (except Henry's which serves straight appetizers). So hopefully you like Cabo Wabo The secret play is order food delivered to your room from a 3rd party. You will get better quality, for less money. And then you tip that driver extra for coming to your room. Cabo wabo is average, expensive. Just 3rd party delivery the food. They will meet you at the valet and hand it off. Lots of guests do this all the time. We learned about it on the second day, so many people are just out there waiting for food delivery

The Newport Beach Marriott Bayview does a lot of things right. These days, service and quality,…read moreeven functionality can be wanting at hotels, but not here for the most part. I was attending a wedding in Orange County and this hotel was part of the wedding block, which they extended by a day for me. When I arrived after a day of travel from the East Coast that became longer and more adventurous than I cared, it was great to be offered two different types of rooms and be personally shown the difference. I chose one on the Ninth Floor. Everything worked in my room, except the shower head, which apparently had been replaced before and now no longer fit precisely in the clamp not made for this shower head handle. It will need to be replaced again, because it falls to the shower floor when the water is turned off and the buttons on the handle adjust themselves to appear to shut off the water flow. This room on the Ninth Floor was a handicapped room and there was no shower door, so this allowed only a small trickle of water out the opening. This is often a problem in hotels, but not here. The televisions worked properly and the thermostat kept the temperature where you wanted it, another issue at hotels. I actually turned the air conditioning off, given the blanket or comforter is not thick enough with the AC on and the ambient air was comfortable without the AC. The AC unit could run a little quieter when in operation, but was comparatively quiet when measured against other hotels. Housekeeping was dutiful and deserved to be tipped, which I did. She was patient with my morning schedule and semi late breakfasts downstairs. She reset the room properly each day. Speaking of downstairs, they have a good bar serving up drinks with quality jumbo ice cubes. My Manhattan was very good. I had a beer poured cold another day. Each time I had breakfast, I had the Denver Omelet coming with well prepared hash browns. The omelet is a three egg omelet with ham, onions, and mushrooms with cheddar cheese. It's a substantial omelet and breakfast for twenty bucks. Served with ketchup and hot sauce at your option. Service is also quick. Given the hotel's proximate location just ten minutes from SNA and Newport Beach in the other direction, your Uber rides will not be overtaxing. 4.2 stars

But, this place is worth every penny (we paid over 500$ for one night, but we might hang around.) The place is really pretty. It is near the freeway, but not so close you hear it at all. Our room is large and spotless. Check in was so easy. It is a tranquil retreat overlooking waterfront views of Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. And believe me I could some tranquilly right about now. You can go to the beach or sit by the wonderful pool. It has a great fitness center and it is not crowded. We had dinner right there at the Vista Kitchen Bar. It is cute and comfortable and the service is great. It is American food and it is great. It is a tad pricey, but we are in a hotel. We are very happy and will return.

The outdoor venue is the perfect size (not too big) so you have a good view of the stage no matter where you're seating. Though I didn't stay at the hotel, I was impressed by the level of service. I went to a vip dinner event before the concert so was able to see different areas of the hotel as well.

Unfortunately, the service at this property does not match the luxury prices being charged. The…read morefront desk staff was great and the staff at Mayor's table was also great. However, the staff at Crew and the pool need some training. At the pool, there are five cabanas, yet a group with several infants and toddlers was placed in the cabana directly next to the lounge chairs where guests were trying to relax, while the other cabanas sat empty. Small children are naturally going to make noise--that isn't the issue. With multiple empty cabanas, the staff should be more thoughtful about placement so everyone can enjoy the pool. The pool staff also need to be much more attentive. At a luxury hotel, staff should regularly walk the pool area, check on guests, clear items, and offer food and beverages. Guests shouldn't have to search for someone when they need service. Our experience at Crew the next morning was equally disappointing. The employee who served my husband and me never greeted us, never smiled, and acted as though helping us was an inconvenience. I asked to see the chocolate croissant and had to press her to show it to me, even though no one else was in line. I later accidentally spilled my coffee and told her, and she didn't even offer to replace it or ask if I wanted another. I wasn't looking for a free coffee and would have gladly paid for another--it was the complete lack of hospitality that bothered me. When you're paying $500 to $1,000+ per night for a standard king room, plus substantial fees, the service should be impeccable. Luxury isn't just about beautiful surroundings and high prices--it's about making guests feel welcomed and taken care of. Both the pool and Crew fell short, and management needs to put a greater emphasis on customer service and hospitality training.
