We chose to just enter the marketplace for $5 which houses food trucks and one beer stand with Bud Light or Stella for $4, or Sky cocktails for $8. VIP is AYCE and AYCD; the marketplace is pay as you go. Originally I thought that VIP or not, everyone was able to try the same food but I realized that VIP had a separate set of vendors. So although the food trucks were tasty, I would spring for VIP next time. You can easily find the food trucks throughout OC at any time without having to pay $5 to get in. In the end the $5 was fine because I understand that they had to staff security, hire the DJ, etc. The general admission marketplace was spacious and we came at an off time so that we didn't have to wait in any lines. After 5:30pm the lines definitely got longer, so arriving at 3:30 was a good call. VIP opened at 5 and I do have to say that it looked super packed, although I can't speak to how things went in there. My friends and I ended up staying until 7 just drinking Stella and listening to the music, so overall it was a nice afternoon and I will be back next year in the VIP.

There was plenty of food to go around and all the vendors were very good about having food ready to serve throughout the night. Lots of free-flowing booze and Hubert's Lemonade (they only had four flavors available. The watermelon was my favorite!) as well as bottled water to wash down all the cheesy goodness! Most memorable bites were the Queso Fundido Chorizo Brioche Donut (aka cheese donut) from Cafe Calacas and lobster taquitos from Slapfish :D VIP tickets include entry to the exclusive VIP section (which is AYCE) as well as the marketplace where you can buy food or merchandise from different vendors and food trucks. In my honest opinion, regular admission to the marketplace isn't even worth the $5. If you're going to make the effort to come all the way out here for this, I highly suggest paying up for VIP tickets ($50). Go big or go home. Free parking at the structure! YESSSS~ Would not have had this life changing experience had Thomas H. not won a pair of VIP tickets through Yelp! This was my first year attending this event and it was quite fun…read more First of all, it's quick and easy to get to the event. Park, enter the hotel, walk upstairs, and there it is. Since it's held inside, it's a bit stuffy and can get crowded. It was packed when I arrived. This event is based on tickets. There are plenty of vendors and lots of tastings from the park itself plus some local business since it's also a business expo. I spent most of my tickets on the sweets vs the savory but still had fun. You can take a break from the fun and enjoy some of the presentations. There is water on the side and that's the coolest spot as well. Some more water stations would have been nice vs just the one. In the future, I suggest they do one entrance fee with unlimited tastings. That's how most of them work like Taste of Anaheim etc. Either way it was still fun.

Ordered the vegan spam musubi from Man Eating Plants food truck. It was $5 a piece which was reasonable. It was small but doable. There were artists and vendors selling art pieces as well as merch. Only circled the place once. Unfortunately it was way too crowded. It was placed in such a small area that it got too claustrophobic. Whoever organized this, probably didn't really think it through. I hope they got the metrics down for next time to make sure they pick another location that can house/hold that many people. The lines were excessively long and people were waiting awhile just for food that was way overpriced. There was also nothing really Ube about it. Most of it were refreshment stands and desserts and some food. Maybe only one or two vendors catered the ube thing...nothing special. Parking was alright. We got lucky finding street parking across the street. The only good thing about this was that it was a free event... and there was good live music. The band playing was awesome and played some really good songs. There was also a dj on the other end. The entrance makes you go in a loop so that people can look through the entire place and see all the vendors. Overall, an okay event. Way too pricey on food, and way overcrowded (small space to hold an event like this).

The event itself was a bit vague about details prior to the event, but it worked out. Since the event was dispersed along Atlantic Ave and Steelcraft, parking was basically wherever you wanted to start out. Participating shops and restaurants mostly sold sampler items right at their storefronts. Pricing of the food and drinks tended to be mixed with some businesses offering good deals and others a bit more questionable. One of my favorite items of the day was the cheese and meat board from The Vintage which was so generous and delicious! The beer samples from Ambitious Ales were also fantastic! Getting around the event was simple enough if you were a young adult, but if you were older or had children, I could see it being an issue. They did have the double-decker buses which were fun to ride, but they were slow so getting around the event might've taken you a while given how big the route was. Another issue that could be improved next time would be managing the lines. Certain booths around the event had horrible lines. This was particularly noticeable at places offering beer as the full menu was basically being offered. This was also a problem at places getting too much demand and running out of the food they had prepared. But thankfully, I didn't see places completely selling out of items so no disappointments there. While I didn't encounter this problem, I suspect with all these waits, people had trouble spending all of their tickets because of the delays. I saw a few groups of people with large amounts of tickets nearing the end of the event. Overall, I loved this event. The spin on the tasting event with the buses was a lot of fun and made for a great afternoon of day drinking. I suspect that there were 2 buses running during the event, 3 might've been a bit more helpful in shuttling people quicker. But i would love to see this event come back, had an amazing time!

This review is for the recent 2007 Orange County Wine Society Wine Classic which was held at the…read moreHilton Anaheim Convention Center on 11/4/07. I had to review it because it would have been nice to know ahead of time what to expect. I will make this short, because I already typed a long review and my explorer page closed...crap. Overall it was fun because I was with some good friends, but this was a sort of backward event...the food was better than the wine. There were a few good wineries that I tasted, most of which I already knew about, but overall a bunch of turpintine in a Riedel glass. Although I was outbid on a good case of wine at the silent auction, I did have a winning raffle ticket for a "gold medal" bottle of port. Can't complain too much. Notables: I knew he'd be there which was one of the main draws to go, but if you get the chance, try some of Kenneth Volk's wine...really great wine from the Central Coast. Trust me. Especially the Pinot Noir. Mad Mike's Gourmet Sausages - he was having a sausage tasting of some of his different types....pretty good stuff and we left with some. Overall, good time, but wouldn't go back.

The backdrop is set up to look like Merida's Scottish Highlands homeland, along with the three mischievous bear cub siblings from the movie. Yesterday my daughter and I were finally able to meet with Merida. For some reason all of the other times that we have tried, they were either shut down or Merida was on lunch break. The line for this princess meet and greet moves painfully slow and it gets tiring and hot very quick while waiting in the baking hot sun. For some reason while we were at the halfway point (along with Merida taking a break), the cast members took away the three little animated cubs, which really disappointed my daughter. Not sure if they broke down or not, nothing was said to us. I'm sure that my daughter and I will eventually be back to see Merida and hopefully the bear cubs will be back in working order by then. I'll just have to remember to bring an ice cold drink and some snacks to keep my daughter comfortable and well hydrated while we wait.
