Stayed here for a night. I was happy with the room, it was clean, and fairly modern. The staff was super friendly and helpful which made the stay so much more enjoyable after a rough day. As far as food goes, I ordered a slice of pizza, a burrito, and a double cheeseburger (recommended by Julissa at the front desk). The pizza seemed cheap and wasn't enjoyable, the burrito was loaded with far too much guacamole to the point where I didn't taste anything aside from guacamole. I had to throw it away. But man the double cheeseburger was amazing. It was a great recommendation from Julissa (Thank you!). If I ever come here again the cheeseburger will be my go to. The housekeeping staff stole clothes with tags from a bag left in the room. We called within 2 hours of leaving and the housekeeping manager said he put it up right away for me to come get. Fast forward - I go get my bag and the NEW WITH TAGS clothes were gone. But the dirty clothes remained. Hotel front manager Jonathan Tellez had me send in receipts and proof of stay and said I would be reimbursed for the missing items. Today I got a call and he told me to go ahead and file a police report that they couldn't find anything on the cameras. We stayed here for 7 nights. The draw for us is that a casino has security and will always be more safe and secure than a regular hotel. Valet parking was free which in LA is unheard of. Charging our Tesla was also free and plenty of charging stations. They have a Starbucks which was great as the ladies at the casino/hotel restaurant are rude, horrible attitude and the food just meh. Now for my complaints- the beds and pillows are horrible and should be upgraded. My back is throbbing after laying on springs and cheap pillows for a week. The linens are also sparse and thin. As for the bathroom I would have to turn on the water 30 minutes before I wanted to shower so it could get hot. That being said, due to safety, security, parking and charging we would stay there again. read more

Here's some truth about the Commerce: If you love Baccarat, this is your place. If you love major poker tournaments (like the WSOP or LAPC) this is your place. But if you are coming here for low stakes cash game poker (1/2, 2/3, 3/5), there's a few things you should be aware of: I've played here about 10 times. Everyone on staff has always been nice. There are colorful, fun people that play here. Some of the regular players are trashy, rude and pathetic- but for the most part, it's not that bad. You can make good money here in low stakes (1/2, 2/3, 3/5). However, playing here at these levels (regardless of your skill) you are more likely to break even or lose over time and here's why: The players here are way too loose. It's an all-in fest on every low stakes table. There's no respect for the game and no fold equity ever. And this is because of the low maximum buy-in limits, high rake and regular players who always jam any two cards just to get awarded promo tickets for drawings. A lot of degenerate gambling here. Cons: If you want to have good poker experience here, you need to be patient with the logistics of the place and be willing to have lots of time wasted on simple and bizarre administrative things. For some reason, they think it's best to not have enough chip runners and not give the dealers enough starting chips in their wells- and given that the dealers are always running out of $1 chips and new players are always waiting for chips, it's even more bizarre that the Commerce doesn't allow $5 chips in play at the low stakes games! This dumb rule also makes low stakes players play from their racks so they can easily switch seats, which slows the game down further. The tables are all 8 handed- which is mind blowing, considering the amount of players constantly on the waiting lists. And there's personal screens mounted into the felt at each seat where your chips go. This is for an optional progressive jackpot side bet thing- but it's confusing, it's cumbersome, cards and chips get stuck on them, they slow the game down and they don't always work. It really takes away from the essence of the game and attracts undesirable type players. Bathrooms are not great. If you're going to be investing 5 or 6 hours (or more) of your time at a crowded place, this is a factor worth mentioning, when it's sub par. They aren't as bad as a dive bar, but there's always puddles under each urinal. It's not Vegas obviously, but with the thousands of people playing at the Commerce at most hours of the day, they should do some renovations in this area and maybe increase the bathroom size, or their bathroom cleaning staff. It's just not enough effort made for such a famous place. Even airports have nicer bathrooms. The poker room itself is massive (largest in the country), but a glaring lack of effort somehow makes it still feel crowded. Maybe if they played 9-handed, they could eliminate a few dozen tables and space the active tables out to make more room?? If they would just have tile pathways cutting through the carpet in the middle like Vegas casinos do... or have an elevated pathway or pedestrian bridge...something to make it nice, other than lame sports flatscreen TVs on the walls. The stuffy warehouse atmosphere and unnecessarily crowded floor affects your poker experience negatively. I think the dealers at the Commerce are OK, but the floor service (or lack thereof) is absolutely terrible. There's usually only one drink cart with coffee and water and you almost always have to get up and get it yourself. And good luck getting any kind of table side food and beverage service at the low stakes games. There is service; I've seen it happen- but it takes forever as they seem to only have 1 or 2 people working the entire poker floor of 1,000 players. Nothing is comped. Everything is overpriced. It just feels stingy. With the amount of money they make, they could make more of an effort to make it nicer. And that's why the Commerce has a reputation for being ghetto, when they should be the most prestigious poker room in the world. *and the area around the Commerce is absolutely ghetto. Don't get cute and try to use an ATM nearby. Stay on the property. The Commerce Casino has enough security and the parking lot is safe, but the city of Commerce and nearby Montebello are quite literally extensions of the hood of East LA. The Commerce property is safe, but know where you are. So overall, I give it 2.5 out of 5. If you've never played here and aren't pressed for time, you should try it at least once. It's certainly a unique experience. But if you are a poker player who wants to use your skills to make money over time, you'll want to either play at the 5/5 level here or above, or look elsewhere. 02/04/2024 Here for the Los Angeles Chinatown Beauty Pageant to select the Queen of Chinatown. This is a huge gala event sponsored by many companies to put this together. I was invited by OneLegacy who promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation. It was a table for 10 and close to the bar. It's a cash bar but you could use a card for your drinks too. Even though it was pouring rain this evening, it was comfortable under the event tent with this giant stage. For this many tables, the food was decent based on how many dishes they need to prepare with choices. What is unbelievable to me is that every table inside was packed. Seems like there are regulars with this packed house. They even set up more tables in the covered patio area just before the entrance to our event. Glad it's not Vegas because during the event, slot machines in front of us making all sorts of noise during the presentation. I'm also glad they didn't make us use the port a potties out in the rain. I was only looking for a place to stay the night, but I had a very pleasant time at the Commerce Casino Hotel. The service was old school excellent. I was able to check into the hotel quickly and the food service at the Grab & Go and at the restaurant was both quick and very pleasant. The waitresses at the restaurant checked on me and my wife often and provided super service with a smile. Even the valet was accommodating by letting us put our stuff in our car in between checking in and out, which enabled us to better manage our belongings. I had good chow mein around 2 a.m. and it hit the spot. The next morning, I had steak, eggs, hash browns, and toast with jam, and it too hit the spot. It reminded me of old Las Vegas. With a Player Card, I got a nice discount, which I gave some back with a nice tip because I frankly was giddy with satisfaction. The Poker Room is a great poker room. It had all levels of Holdem poker and I didn't have to wait long to get on a table and the floor men provided good service, not just pointing out the poker table, but actually taking me to the poker table. Went to a Concert here. The venue was amazing! My hotel suite was incredible! Comparable to Vegas 5 Star Hotels ... The food was limited but sooooo good. I wanted a fruit salad at the end of the night but that were sold out, undesirable. Anyway, I got the Salt and Pepper Porkchop plate. The chops were thin but oh soooo tasty. It also came with rice. I would get this again Parking was crowded but people were coming and young so no problem. All the tables were packed with winners ...lol.. that was a good sign Drinks were reasonable... The walls are extremely thin in this hotel. We could hear every door on our floor closing or people outside talking in the hallway making it very hard to sleep. The room was very clean which is great but the bedding was bleached and stretched so much it smelled like it and felt very stiff. Casino floor consisted of mostly baccarat tables and few 3 card poker tables- not what you would normally think of as a casino. Valet service was excellent and we were grateful to be able to get validated for one night free valet. We didn't try any of the food places because they were closed when we arrived at night. Anyways, I met a client for dinner here, and out of all the Los Angeles 'card rooms' he informed me this was the place to be where he had a significant edge above all else in poker. But this isn't about that. It's about the food. We both ordered a carne asada burrito. $13 seems pretty reasonable compared to where I live in weho. Ordered everything on it. Arrived barren. No salsa. No sauce. Apparently salsa was extra? I managed to convince server at bar to give me tapatia sauce. Very dry. Rice was crunchy and undercooked. The asada was mostly gristle and fat. In short, the burrito was truly dreadful. I don't really gamble, but the bar was decent I suppose. Beers were cheap, and plus there's complimentary snacks just ask server. This review is for the hotel: We needed a room last minute as we were working a convention in Long Beach. We found the Commerce to have decently priced rooms with good ratings. Many of the other rooms in the area were priced higher due to the convention. We pulled up to valet and felt secure leaving our car as they asked us to create a pin to pick the car up. At check-in, I was a bit confused because it said, "Player check-in" and I wasn't checking in to gamble but Johnny kindly greeted me to come up and check-in. We checked in late at 130 am. He shared a ton of information in a well-paced, kind, friendly, informative manner. He shared information regarding the restaurant open for 24 hours including the menu, where the spa, pool and gym were, and wifi information. I went for the carnival staff event and I went last year but this year was just eh. The food was ok, tacos were good. The crepes were lazy just wrapped mangos and whip cream which the inside was fine just to not the crepe part. One of the ride caught fire or leaked oil or something. Long story short, we were starving and noticed the car-side food service option that came with a QR code, displayed next to the chargers. After looking into the menu, we decided to give this a try. 20 minutes later someone from the hotel came to the car and delivered our food. Pricing was very reasonable. The quality, AMAZING! Of course this was for our in laws anniversary celebration and we thought this would be the perfect place since all the guys love gambling and the ladies the shopping and pampering... HUGE MISTAKE!!!! The place is a chaotic starting from the chip runners to their supervisors. Then came the two managers... My father in law recognized her as being a dealer... extremely rude and spoke to her colleague even with condescending manner. Wow times have changed here at the commerce and not for the better! I wish I could give negative stars. I haven't been to commerce in years and won't be back. First off the F&B manager Ramon needs to be better at his job. Me and my family enjoyed dinner there at the resturant which was really good and the severs who were there did an excellent job too shout out to that staff I really thought the night would be pleasant. Once we were done some of my family went to play poker( btw did not know it was now 8 handed which is pretty lame but understandable. Some of us sat at the bar to enjoy drinks and conversations we were at the bar for a good 2 hours probably longer. My sister and bro inlaw arrived and had some drinks with us . After my bro inlaw had two beers he went to use the restroom and when he came back we tried to order a round of beers however the bartender stated my brother inlaw had been cut off. That caught us all of guard as he only had a couple of drinks we couldn't believe it and even asked if they had the right guy as he had just arrived. Then Ramon walks over and speaks to us extremely rude stating that surveillance had called and said my brother in law was walking funny ( btw he has a bad back and does walking funny at times) we tried to explain this to Ramon but as I said he was very rude and was just stating policy. It's crazy to think you can just cut some off without Even a conversation to determine if someone deserves to be cut off which never happened. But whatever we wanted to try and enjoy our holiday weekend so we let it go. Once I hit the tables to play poker I noticed there was not one beverage server anywhere. Other players at the table stated there is no one serving drinks and they always have to go to the bar to get drinks which is so crazy I did speak to a floorman about it and he said they know it's an issue but nothing they can really do as they don't have anyone to serve drinks! Like I said nuts! So I would have to leave my seat to get beers for myself and other players which I did for about an hour or so and I would bring multiple beers for to the table for myself and other players no issues. Around 1230 I went for another round however this a different bartender told me I could not order anymore as it's 2 drinks per player per hour. I was in shock as I was getting beers all night and multiple beers all night and well under the hour. Once again here comes Ramon again very rude and again stating policy. At this point I was so upset I wanted a higher up and ended up in the security office and wrote out a statement and spoke with a Nicole who is the floor manager. Will not be back! Came here for a combat poker tournament and got knocked out in 5 minutes, so I decided to play a little poker to make my trip worthwhile. I'm not a big poker player, usually play some home games or some charity tournaments, so the last time I actually sat down and played here was like 10 years ago. If it's your first time, go to cashier services and get a players card. Then go to the floor and look for the little kiosks to swipe your card. They'll have a lot of different games and you just pick what game you want to play and you just wait until a seat or new table opens up. I played 1-2 nlh and it seems like a mix of some amateurs and some degenerate gamblers. Dealers were all nice and friendly and It's a good place to get in a little practice without losing too much money. I usually play no limit holdem mostly, regardless of what day of week or time, you can find multiple tabl es of each limit. While playing poker you have the option to order table side food. It is a wide selection of items, but mostly Asian cuisine. Secret menu item..not on menu (( tres leche cake warmed up with double scope of ice cream vanilla)). They have a restaurant with American and Chinese food I was very surprised again on the quality of the food due to the prices being so low, usually when the prices for the food are low the food is not that good but the food was pretty good in my opinion, for me and my family too rat was only $55 and my son got a ribeye steak which was very good, definitely will stay again read more
