The open view to the cliff wall from the sliding door wall was about the prettiest scene you would want out of your bedroom. They offer rooms with and without a hot-tub on the back porch, as well as dome rooms, some with skylights for night time star viewing. However the domes don't open for reservations until sometime in April, the rooms with hot-tubs go very quickly!! I regret to say that we only stayed overnight. I now wish I had given us more time in this delightful hotel.

This is a room that isn't advertised in 3rd party sites and has to be booked on the property website only - it's something like 50% cheaper than the rooms in the hotel. The room comes with unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate from the General Store/Cafe. We were a bit confused with how it worked since other customers have to pay for drinks, but the clerk assured us we could go whenever to get drinks (which we did multiple times!) While we checked in too late in the day to eat at the deli and left too early in the morning for Chuckwagon's famous lunch boxes, we did hit it up in the morning for breakfast pastries, which according to the cashier are all baked in house (and why we were attracted to them in the first place). We were having trouble deciding between the Kouign Amann and the Chocolate Croissant, eventually deciding on the former, but the cashier tossed us the latter for free! What great service! Chocolate Croissant (Complementary, normally $6) - This is a gorgeous looking croissant, golden brown with a drizzle of sweet chocolate on top, still soft and gooey thanks to being fresh from the oven. It's baked hard, so croissant shards fly everywhere while eating. I'd say it's baked a tad too long, so while extremely flaky, the interior isn't quite as chewy as I'd like. The lamination does look quite good from what I can tell after having some difficulty slicing through with a plastic knife. As is traditional, two chocolate batons are baked inside. (5/5) Kouign Amann w/ Cream ($6) - Again, this pastry has a really hard bake, so almost the entire thing shatters easily, except for the stellar caramelized sugar layer covering the bottom. It's hardened, sticky, and sweet with a great crunch factor. The interior is actually correct for a Kouign Amann, which is really surprising for a small-town bakery. It's not laminated nearly as much as the croissant, and instead seems to be a nice enriched brioche interior, albeit not particularly airy and soft in texture due to the bake. There's a really tangy and somewhat sweet cream cheese frosting that's piped into the center. I'd actually prefer the pastry without this extra flourish, but beggars can't be choosers! (5/5) Both pastries are more of a 4.5/5 due to the bake, but the ingredients and technique (other than bake) seem to be well thought out. We were not expecting much from these baked goods given that the Chuckwagon Deli isn't exactly a specialty bakery, but in the end we were extremely surprised by the quality. They only offer breakfast sandwiches now but it's made to order so we got to choose type of eggs and proteins. It did take a bit a time for them to make it so factor that in when planning your visit. The sandwiches were ~$12 each but were pretty filling so perfect for another day of hiking.

I figured this was probably my one chance in life to sleep in a wagon, and it had plenty of room for the four of us. The setup is really cool. All the wagons are arranged around a huge fire pit and they look awesome in person. For pricing, our first night in the wagon came out to 319 dollars plus tax. With sales tax and lodging tax, the total for that night was 361.17. We had already paid that as a deposit, so it was covered. The bathrooms are not attached to the wagons, but you get your own private bathroom with a shower and you access it with a key card. The wagon itself has a front door that uses an actual key, which adds to the whole experience. We grabbed dinner, came back, and had a great time at the fire pit while the girls roasted s'mores. Everything felt perfect. We went to bed around ten. Then the wind showed up. At about 2 am I woke up to the sound of the wind hitting the canvas. It was loud. Way louder than I expected. The girls slept right through it, but my wife and I were basically awake for the rest of the night. The funny part is that when I walked to the bathroom at 4 am, it was not even windy outside. The canvas just catches whatever breeze there is and makes it sound like a storm. By six we gave up and got up for the day. The next morning I went to the front desk to see if we could switch rooms. The staff was super helpful and understanding. For an extra 90.58 we upgraded to a cabin and it was absolutely worth it. The cabin was awesome. It had a loft, a big main bedroom with a king bed, four bunk beds, a full size fridge, a microwave, and a two burner stove. The bathroom had a tub, shower, toilet, and sink. It was comfortable, clean, and honestly felt like a small house. After spending the day hiking around Capitol Reef, coming back to that cabin felt amazing. Our second night in the cabin was 399 dollars plus tax. With sales tax and lodging tax, that night came out to 451.74. Between the wagon night, the cabin night, and the upgrade charge, the total for the stay was 718.01 before taxes and 812.92 after taxes, which we had already paid. The front desk staff deserves credit. They were friendly, patient, and gave great tips for food and even where I could charge my car. Bottom line. The wagons are a fun and unique experience, but if you are a light sleeper, the wind might get you. The cabins are fantastic and worth the upgrade. The staff is great and the location is perfect for exploring Capitol Reef. I would stay here again, but next time I am booking the cabin from the start.

Onsite restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a BBQ restaurant across the street. There are several hotel-like sections with either a parking lot view or the mountain view in the back. There are also small cabins, teepees and covered wagons to rent. It was chilly and windy at night in May, so I was glad we had a room with a window heater that worked well. The room's windows opened which was nice for fresh air. Some rooms have better chairs to sit to admire the mountain view; ours had a cushioned metal chair like you would see in a banquet facility, but I thought it was a thoughtful touch to be able to sit outside our room to sip a coffee and admire the view. The room had a sofa and coffee table and wet bar with a Keurig coffee maker with Starbucks coffee which was a nice touch (instead of generic or cheaper coffee) and a generous supply of creamer/sweetener packets. Mugs and paper cups were provided. Refrigerator (no freezer}, and microwave. Lots of room on the bathroom sink. Toilet and bathtub/shower in a separate room. I can't remember if it was this hotel or another one where the bathroom fan in the toilet/shower area would run for a pre-determined time even if you shut off the switch - just let it run. There was a slightly annoying curtain between the bathroom area and the bedroom which was pulled back but still hung down on the top. It was to provide privacy if you were changing in the sink area which would be nice if you had a family or friend you are traveling with. Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap (rather drying to the hands), hand/body lotion, mouthwash, Q tips, a dark makeup washcloth were provided. Two luggage racks and extra blankets in the closet. The room looked a bit dated and had a Southwestern theme, but it was clean and comfortable. We had room 406 at the very end of the hotel building section next to the covered wagons. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the main building with the restaurant. Pool was 3 - 9 feet and the hot tub was deep and felt wonderfully hot. Wooden steps up to the hot tub. There was a closet filled with towels which was really nice. Fitness center. Outdoor gas firepits and chairs. To get heat, it was better to sit where the wind was blowing but it also blew the gas smell. It was a bit too windy and cold to enjoy so we didn't stay long. Breakfast (not included) was fresh and hot, scrambled eggs perfectly cooked. Small gift shop with some snacks on-site. The front desk receptionist greeted me every time I walked in and was nice in our interactions/questions. You would reserve llama and horseback trips, but it looked like the llamas will carry the gear and lunch if you choose but not you. We drove to La Cueva Mexican two nights for dinner - good prices for the amount of food, and I loved the salsa. We stayed at the resort for two nights before going to Bryce National Park for a night then to Zion. This isn't a fancy, modern resort, but it was clean, comfortable, and had some thoughtful guest touches. We would stay here again and recommend.

The amenities here are fantastic--there is a large recreation area featuring a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, and pickleball courts. Breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of options including waffles, breakfast sandwiches, cake loaves, oatmeal, fresh fruits, and a wide variety of coffees and teas. Because we used a free Hilton night certificate, the price wasn't an issue for us, but room rates this May were running around $600 a night. For a property commanding that premium price point, there are still a few operational details that need to be ironed out to match the high-end experience they are aiming for: Front Desk & Service: The front desk is currently not staffed all day, which can be inconvenient for a luxury resort. Communication: Communication needs a bit of tuning, specifically updating their welcome email template and ensuring guest text messages are answered promptly. Signage: Physical signage from the main road needs improvement, which is especially important if you are arriving without a working GPS signal. Overall, it is a gorgeous property with excellent bones and great potential. Once these smaller service details and the new dining options are fully sorted, it will easily be a top-tier luxury destination!

The pillows provided little support, and the shower was a bit tricky to change from the faucet to the shower head. With all that being said, I'd love to come again and bring my own pillow - easy fix! The staff was SO nice - thanks Michelle for taking care of us! If you're planning on staying here to visit Capitol Reef, I HIGHLY recommend this place. It's about a 15 minute drive from the park and a very affordable price. There is one Mexican restaurant within walking distance.

Later at night, when people where talking as they get in their room, I could hear them. In the morning, everyone who passed by, and when they used the ice machine at some ungodly hour, I could hear them. I swear it was like our door was made out of paper. The faucet, they're the bowl style sink, that didn't work out. If you put it at light water stream, the faucet lever drops so water stops. If I put the lever higher so it doesn't drop to automatically close, then it gushes water too much and now it's splashing all over the place. I was heavily disappointed because they promoted themselves as a spa, but there was nothing spa like about this place.

I mean... I've stayed at motels and even campgrounds that were nicer and cleaner than this. Extremely disappointed and definitely the worst stay of this trip. I came to check in at 2:55pm and the woman at the front desk seemed extremely annoyed that I was there before the 3pm check in time. It seems like she gave me the worst room in retaliation. I don't know which rooms have the nice upgraded interiors that are pictured on Google, but be aware that they are NOT all like that. The pictures on Google are MUCH nicer than the awful room that was given to us. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We were on the 2nd floor because the first floor room only slept two adults and we had three. That first floor room is ADA friendly. I believe there are about 10 rooms in the entire building. All have different names related to a school setting. There was an interesting front door policy but for the sake of safety I won't write about it. We stayed in the Arithmetic Room. It was clean and ready upon our arrival. We arrived one hour early and were unable to check into our room??? So we went in search of food. It was slim pickings for sure. Torrey is a sleepy town. Many establishments open at 8:00 am and close by 3:00 pm. Some places are closed In the middle of the week. I wish I'd known this before booking a room. Our room was really two rooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom. The decor was what you'd expect in an antique-vibe establishment. As far as beds and pillows, the pillows were too hard for our liking. My mom and I woke up with stiff necks and headaches after the first night. We did check out all the pillows on the other beds and found two that were softer. The actual beds were great. The bathroom was not ADA equipped and was not marketed as such. My mom had a difficult time using that bathroom. We had an excursion that first morning and were being picked up at 7:00 am. Since breakfast is served at 8:30, there would be no breakfast for us. When I informed the owner of this, no other provisions were offered. We were not offered coffee, which ended up being Folgers anyway so no loss there. We were not offered any kind of small snack etc. I even texted the owner the evening of our first night to remind her that we would not be around for breakfast. We were the ONLY party staying at the facility this first night and I wanted to ensure that breakfast was not cooked and wasted due to our absence. In the name of customer service, I was hoping we could grab coffee or tea and a snack and then head out for our excursion. Unfortunately, none were offered. The grounds are well manicured. It is a lot of work to maintain these gardens which were beautiful. My friend is an avid gardner and explained the various varieties of flowers, plants, and shrubs. A deer hung out in the gardens that first day. It's a very serene setting. We had two tv's in our rooms and could pull up Prime, Netflix, etc and watch just about any type of program. We did get breakfast today. It was pretty amazing. We were served gluten free banana crepe/pancakes, cantaloupe, grapes, grass fed beef sausage, poached egg with cheddar cheese and condiments like strawberries and yogurt for the pancakes. Canadian maple syrup was also served. Anyway, I gave this BnB a 3 because we did not feel very welcomed the first two days. We seriously did not see anyone on that first day after that initial meet with the owner around 2:00 pm. We were not asked yesterday about how we slept, were we comfortable, did we need anything etc. In fact, we didn't see anyone yesterday either. Today seemed more welcoming. You can ignore the old review comments about Irene and Kim, also the Yelp business description. They sold the business to Shawn and are no longer active here. If you don't mind the cost, I recommend a sunset tour in a utility terrain vehicle ("side-by-side" aka UTV). Adam took us up top a nearby rock formation that let us see all of Torrey, and gave us quick geology & history lessons while we were up there, it was a great time. Finding the Skyridge's entrance dirt road can be a struggle, and they appropriately warn guests that your phone's map will probably fail on the listed address.
