When I voted here, in the Senior Center, it was great to meet and greet with volunteers from the Senior Center who told us more about the activities they do on that side. They put on social events and dances and educational programs. I would have never known. There is a Louduon Rec Center Guide that comes out seasonally. Within it, there are classes for kids and adults on activities at the rec center and surrounding. I signed up for a few things for our family members and other than one event, they all were exceptional! I recently came for a Play All Day event. There was demonstrations in the lap pool, scavenger hunt in the leisure pool for kids, Bounce houses outside, dancing class for seniors, live band and food trucks, etc. It was amazing to see the facilities and use the rock wall for free. The daily passes to the rec center are so reasonable too with $6 for adults and $4 for kids. They even have family passes if people from the same house hold are coming together. As I continue to discover more and more about the recreation center, and meet all the wonderful people that work here; I continue to get more and more amazed at this place and their offerings. It's great running into your neighbors and bonding with the new summer staff from local high schools.

I've been to Oak Mont, Providence, Audrey Moore…read more Amenities: -pool - ranging from 0 to 12 ft deep, has ~10 lanes, during the day though there are often classes or team practice, so best to do lap swimming during the day -locker room - showers, separate family or senior changing rooms (4x) -hot tub -sauna -cardio equipment - treadmill, ellipticals, bikes -indoor track -weight room - dumbbells, machines, squat rack -basketball court/pickleball court -pilates studio - no sure if you have to pay extra but there was a class going on when I looked in -various dance style rooms for classes Where to put your stuff -there are generally a lot of open cubbies throughout the facility -any lockers will require a quarter, you can't use your own lock --wish they would change them to normal lockers -bleachers in the pool area and basketball court -some chairs at the ends of the pool lanes Cleanliness/Overall Experience -dry land (yes I am a swimmer) equipment and areas seem to be pretty clean -swimming - ok if you swim in the early mornings, but lanes are a bit narrow and you will likely have to share. If you are a lap swimmer, it will be tough getting a lane in the evening -locker rooms - eh ok for a public facility like this but expect mold, hair, and other gunk in showers. Definitely lots of room for improvement for shower cleanliness -staff have been warm and helpful -value - their membership does allow you to use all the Fairfax rec centers, so if you do that, then it is a decent value. Still a struggle if you are a lap swimmer like myself. If they could have better cleaning in their facilities and more dedicated time to lap swimmers then it would be an amazing value.

We saw a few weddings here last weekend. Plenty trails and photo ops! Looks like a lot of people come here for maternity shoots and engagement shoots- the photographers have a special entrance ticket and rules to abide by. Don't sleep on this hidden gem during cherry blossom season! The rest of the botanical garden is well worth a visit, with a greenhouse, polished garden favorites, and wild woodland scenery. There are also children's gardens and a small playground, as well as many benches with different views to enjoy. One of my favorite spots is the fairy garden right outside the entrance, with all kinds of small-scale flowers. Admittedly, I've only been to Meadowlark during two seasons and have yet to witness fall and winter. I'm eager to go for the holiday lights, which I've heard great things about.

They even have a sauna! This is not a resort by any means but it is a great way to entertain kiddos on a cold, winter day and get some wiggles out. The locker room is clean and well-kept and they even have a family changing room which comes in so clutch for my husband and my daughter. The total cost for an afternoon of fun is approximately $40 for a family of four, which is a total steal. Add in a trip to the nearby Chick-fil-a and you are in kid heaven. They also host birthday parties for a fraction of the cost of places like Chuck E. Cheese or Scramble.

The weather was great and parking was plentiful. When I arrived I noticed the staff did not have the room prepared for the party people to set up- tables were locked in a closet with the chairs- which caused the event to start late and ALL hands on deck to help get it up- the staff agreed to an extra hour because they failed to have the room prepped- so as an attendee I was happy and said great they are making it better- However once our extra hour was the start a new and extremely rude employee denied the previous grant- she was awful to us yelling about trash. And inserting herself in the party. She stood over one of the servers and was so rude to him. This I felt was unacceptable and such a poor reflection on the event space. The only way I would ever come back is I was assured in writing accommodations and that same older woman was not working.

The river was relaxing, the views were gorgeous, and the whole day just felt easy and fun. A huge shoutout to Spider, our guide, who truly went above and beyond. Not only did he keep the energy high with great vibes and a friendly attitude, but he also made sure everyone was safe and accounted for throughout the float. We noticed him picking up trash along the way. So awesome to see someone taking care of the river and setting a great example. He really cared about both the people and the environment. If you're thinking about doing a tubing trip in Harpers Ferry, this is the place to go--and if you're lucky enough to get Spider as your guide, you're in for a great time!

Several walked by saying hello with smiles. Again, coming from MoCo, I was like "Maybe moving to Northern Virginia is worth the cost". The bathrooms are a bit outdated, but not a deal breaker. It is still relatively clean like the rest of the facilities. The kitchen to the community room that my friends rented out had a lot of appliances (4 air fryers) and a large oven for reheating. Was here over the weekend for a fairy festival put on by the Reston Association. Parking was a…read morelittle awkward along the street but that was because they used the nature center parking lot for fun stations for the kids. My daughter enjoyed the bubbles and ribbons. I saw older kids appreciated the pine cone fairy crafting and wand making. After checking in we made our way along the walking trail through the woods to the pavilion where the fairy queen read a cute story while the kiddos enjoyed lemonade and snacks. The fairies and fairy houses along the way were adorable! Would love to come back and check out the visitors center when it isn't as crowded. I saw there was a lot of educational material about animals and plants.

I visited Great Falls NP on a spring-like day on May 30, 2026. This is a fantastic place to enjoy…read morenature on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. What are the pluses? First, the park includes waterfalls, pine trees, granite cliffs, and babbling brooks. Second, the Visitor's Center area has restrooms, staff who can answer questions, and a simple "old-school" ice cream and snack shop. Third, the river trail and waterfall outlooks provide amazing scenery without much effort - just a bit of walking. What more can you ask for? It's $20 per vehicle (for 7 days of use), or if you have an annual national park pass ($80), it's valid here. On the last Saturday of May 2026, it was crowded but parking was still available in the additional parking lot (second one past the visitor center) around 11:50am.

Great Falls & National Parks, Oh my!! (US National Parks) worth an Annual Pass…read more Do you like easy walking trails? Beautiful views? A front seat to nature...ducks, frogs eagles and other animals await your visit to Great Falls Park. It's really 2 parks in 1, or is that 1 park cut into 2? Let me explain, Great Falls is a national park that sits in the border of Maryland and Virginia. The trails were relatively easy, in regular sneakers. Apparently, if you get up in the morning you can see an amazing array of wildlife and a huge amount of birds. There's even a man made waterfall, areas to enjoy water sports and fishing. It cost $20 per car, $15 per motorcycle and $10 on foot. It cost $35 for Annual Pass (only for Great Falls Park and C&O Canal National Historical Park). There's also an America the Beautiful--the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, which cost $80 for US residents and citizens. For nonresident it cost $250. There are even a senior citizen resident annual pass for $20 and lifetime resident pass $80. For the cost of a one year annual pass, you can visit many times in a year. It's cheaper than paying each time you go...if you are into physical fitness, trails, nature and the great outdoors. Did you know the US National Parks include a rainforest and a Spanish Fort located in Puerto Rico, a US territory. Yes, for such a small area Washington, DC has 30 National Parks (including historic sites, memorials, and parkways). But wait there's more, The Greater Capital Region (DC, MD and DC) has 86 Parks in total with all parks and sites maintained by the US Parks Department. Are you going to Great Falls or will you hit all the US Parks this summer? Get a pass and get out in nature.
