The water here tastes like straight bleach and this effects the water and all the fountain drinks and the coffee I tried three different drinks and the gave up!! Cassidy has done a wonderful job, not only with the menu but the feel of the diner itself. I should know. I am the grandson of the original owners, Sophie and George Archer. I grew up in this diner. I know it and the food intimately. The booths, counter, stools, etc... are original and well maintained, but definitely NOT dated. She's upgraded and changed the layout a bit. For the better, I think. What was a storage area is the kitchen. The old, tiny kitchen is now a dining area. The menu retains all of what you've come to expect from a small town diner and is done very well. Great breakfast with all the standard fare. Great sandwiches, burgers and fries cooked to perfection. Cassidy has also added some very nice menu items, such as a Cuban sandwich. My grandparents would have never thought of it. Her chicken riggies are award winning! In short, my grandparents had a high standard for their food. Cassidy has surpassed that. She supports local high school sports, local clubs and organizations, even paint -n- sips. So, if you're looking for a clean, bright, friendly place to eat with great food, you'd be hard pressed to find better. She's been around for just about a decade or so and I don't see her stopping any time soon with the great food and service she's become known for. read more

Came here and the place was empty, even though it was cute and clean and tidy. I kept wondering why such an adorable diner was empty. The waitress was pleasant. Took my drink order and gave me time to look over the menu. Came back and took my order and went back to the kitchen and proceeded to talk really loudly about her problems. Brought me my breakfast and all I can say is UGH. The cook couldn't even get eggs over easy right. The corned hash was gross. The homefried potatoes had absolutely no seasoning, dark brown from old grease, and partially cooked. I will not be coming back here. Ever. read more

My wife and I checked for restaurants to stop for lunch on our way home. We choose Cassidy's for lunch because of the great reviews. Cassidy's is a nice small diner with excellent service. I had a burger and fries. I wife had a cheeseburger and fries. The buns the right size and not over sized and doughy. The buns were lightly grilled but still soft soft. Both the burger and cheeseburger were made from fresh meat. They were excellent but a little beyond medium rare. The lettuce and tomato were placed under the meat. Great idea to prevent the the bottom of the bun from getting soggy. The large fries were excellent. Crisp outside but soft inside. If we're in the Richfield area we will definately stop again. read more

I'm spending a couple of weeks in Richfield Springs for business and taking advantage of trying out 4 of the restaurants in town (6 if you count Subway & McDonald's) - and by far Cassidy's is the friendliest and serves the best food, The only downsize is that it is breakfast and lunch only with the exception of a Friday Night Fish Fry. Cassidy's is the American Small Business Success Story. Apparently, she was once the waitress for another owner who for one reason or another lost the business. Then there was another owner who also lost the place. Now Cassidy has taken over the restaurant and doing a great job. Cassidy runs the front of the house, by herself and her customers love her. I've now been in there 3 times and every time there is cross-table conversation taking place and Cassidy is in the middle of it all. Like her tag line says, "Hot Coffee and Good Conversation!" Speaking of coffee, she does serve a very good cup rich and bold the way I like it. The menu is not anything special - it's diner food, but the execution is very good. Doesn't matter if you order a burger or a sandwich for lunch, you'll be pleased. Same goes for the breakfast - how ever you order your eggs, that's how you'll get them. The home fried potatoes are to die for - very good. Friday night I went in for the Fish Fry and had the Clams - served with two massive sides. I had the coleslaw and cucumber salad - both very good...both a little different than what I am used to, but that's what makes traveling so great - new ways of experiencing the same comfort food that I eat at home. Hats off to Cassidy's for making an out of towner feel right at home and welcome. Each time I returned, I was welcomed as an old friend and that felt good. I have no doubt that Cassidy, with her bright and engaging personality will make this diner a home town success story that will last as long as she wants it to. read more

Diner dining at its best! You want to go where all the locals go, and this is the place. The cooking is EXCELLENT! The staff is very friendly and accomplished. The first morning we went, the diner was slammed! An entire youth baseball team occupied the long counter. We were directed toward the back, where we took the next-to-last table available. The server (yes, only one at that moment) was spectacular! She zipped around, meeting everyone's needs graciously & with humor. The surrounding customers, all "locals," were very welcoming to us and friendly. The eggs were cooked perfectly to our specification (over lightly), the bread (rye), excellent, and quantities generous. We had a lovely glimpse into the character & personality of the town of Richfield Springs and felt very comfortable. Of course, we went back the next morning. This will be our go-to breakfast sport each August when we go to the Cooperstown area! read more

Spending the last week and a half in upstate New York, I got the chance to try a lot of small establishments around the Cooperstown area. The best breakfast I had though, was at Cassidy's. To start off, I ordered a coffee, which I drink black with one sweetener due to lactose intolerance. It was AMAZING. This was some of the smoothest, most robust, fresh...ugh, not enough adjectives to describe my love of this coffee. Lucky for my future mornings...I was filled in on where to get it. Secondly, the potion sizes were something you could expect in a small town diner. My plate was very near to spilling over with all the homemade goodness on it. Both mornings we visited, I was stuffed to the gills! If by some random happenstance, you find yourself driving through...be sure to stop into Cassidy's and at least have a cup of that ridiculously delicious coffee. read more

Excellent diner! Food and service are perfection. Had the biscuits and gravy, meatball sandwich, and blueberry pancakes. Everything is homemade and cooked exactly how you ask for it. The eggs are of good quality and the blueberries in the pancakes were fresh...it's these little touches that let you know this owner cares about the establishment. Oh and the coffee is delish!! My daughter and I were traveling through Richfield Springs and stopped at Cassidy's Dinner for lunch. We both ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich which is grilled ham and cheese sandwiched between two pieces of French toast. It was delicious, grilled to perfection and had some delicious honey mustard on it as well. The sandwiches were served with fresh cut sweet potato fries that were also very good. Our service was excellent - the waitress was very sweet and attentive , we even had a bee at our table that had come in from outside and she happily removed it promptly! This place is a wonderful little diner, and if we're lucky enough to be passing through Richfield Springs again at breakfast or lunch time, we'll definitely be back! read more
